👍👍 Our family got the booster shots on last Sunday afternoon. The whole process took only 30 mins. The Gates Medical Centre is very well organized and the clinic is neat & clean. Our family really appreciated everything the staff are doing for us during this difficult time. Big shout to the RN Nicole... I cannot speak for every single front desk ladies, however I had one of the worst experiences with a few of them a couple of days ago. They were incredibly rude and awful. You should know how to treat people, I am disgusted and extremely upset. I never leave bad reviews, but this has really been bothering me.

My daughter was very nervous about the covid vaccine, but it turned out she had a great positive experiences. Great work everyone!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE hire some receptionists that can actually work with people in pain. I'm not the only one writing about the extremely poor customer service of these receptionists, so this SHOULD raise serious questions of how these ladies are handling patient's calls... WHY aren't you doing retraining, take measurements, hire people that, aside from appreciating they have a job, they are also compassionate and respectful...?!?! Do you, doctors, agree with this?!?!?!?!?!?! This is a MEDICAL place of business and compassion should be NUMBER ONE quality. No matter how urgent the matter is, patients are left at the mercy of some wannabes... Sorry, but the frustration is getting the best of me and I can't wrap my head around how a receptionist has the power of deciding when can a patient be seen by a doctor, and on top of that, treating a patient with disrespect and disregard to their health... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!?!

Good luck getting an apt!! Just over a decade ago when they were starting out, they were so eager to please… now it’s a joke. You can’t even get an apt on an urgent basis, and simply told by the rude receptionists to call back at 4pm, leave a msg and maybe you can be seen the next day… days later still no apt. They were never like this before.Receptionist assured me it’s like this everywhere , and told me I could gladly take my business else where when I disputed that fact. Thank God for online doctors… got my son the prescription he needed within 30 minutes and didn’t have to leave the house. All covered by ohip. It’s really a shame because Dr. yamagishi is amazing, but I guess you need to be famous, or a family member of the receptionists to actually get in.

Doctors here are great. Front desk admin staff are not great. Zero people skills. Here is some advice.... people come to the Doctor because they are unwell. Your interactions are a representation of the whole practice. If you have to tell someone bad news (regarding appointments or whatever) try to be empathetic and helpful. Make time for the clients and try hard to help them leave happy. Background.... i had an appointment for 9:45am for my son. It was an emergency appointment. I was 3.5 minutes late. I was at total fault. The way they dealt with me wasn't in a professional way. No customer service skills at all. No way to rebook. They told me i had to leave and phone in (just so i would leave). So i left and phoned in to make an appointment while standing outside. There was no one in the waiting area and 3 staff at the desk..... you think they answered the phone? Not a chance lol i walked back in and told her that i wanted to make another appointment for a later date and i won't leave until i got one. They were puzzled. She came over after a bit and explained that my appointment wasn't for 945am and that it was for 940am. So i was like.... okay whatever. I'll leave unhappy (Which should NEVER be the case). When i got home i explained the situation to my spouse and she stated that it was for 945am. It's just a shady situation.

So good! We came in today for booster shots. Two appointments at 10:45 and 11:15. We walked in together at 10:35am, were greeted by a gentlemen who told us which seats to take, were administered our booster shots by friendly, competent staff, and were done in about 8 minutes. We have had no problems with previous shots so we were allowed to leave right away. The car was still warm! Such a good experience. Thank you!

Extremely kind staff! I had booked an appointment and waited around 15 minutes in line outside to enter the clinic. It was cold but I was smart enough to bring a jacket and enough layers. Having said that, the wait was understandable since once inside, all nurses were busy vaccinating people and there was a capacity limit in place. Upon entering the clinic, I had my vaccine within a few minutes. I am very happy with my experience! Most of the people complaining about the wait and lack of specific vaccines sound entitled to me . . . things are always changing last minute and the staff is trying their best to make the vaccination process as smooth as possible given the circumstances. Don't forget to be kind!

I discovered their vaccine clinic via the Durham Region website and boy am I glad. I had my shot last week. The whole process took 30 mins and was very well run. I have also referred a number of friends and family in the area and they have all had a positive, efficient experience. Great work everyone!

Was spoken to very rudely by woman named Tammy. I felt 100% judged and profiled by my physical appearance. Completely ruined my day and made me feel horrible .

The front desk staff are terrible. I’m constantly calling with zero answers all the time. I’ve had enough, and I’m searching for a new family doctor. They’re so disorganized.

Amazing nurses for the kids covid shots. I can’t begin to express my gratitude for how she helped my daughter who hates needles not even flinch. Highly recommend if you need to get your kids vaccines. Thank you so so so so much to that nurse.

I am not a patient here, but have been able to book my baby's pediatric flu shot and you can also get their Covod shots here. They have a wonderfully well-run vaccine clinic. Efficient, clean, fun environment, and super friendly young people working there. Our nurse we had for both of the flu shots was soooo good with babies and kids. I wish this was our family doctor's office.

Have been coming here for years. It’s the only place that’s I’ve ever been that keep to scheduled appointments EVERY TIME. We literally have never waited past our appointment to see our Doctor. And the whole clinic is clean as clean can be. We’ve moved out of town and we still drive 45 mins to come here for the awesome service and professionalism everyone exudes. If you’re lucky enough to get in (I know there is a waiting list) don’t hesitate!

The best group of Dr Clinics I've ever gone too. It's very well organized and ran. The staff are all amazing and friendly. Depending on your medical issues, they have great appt times with real same day emergency appts that are always on time or within 5 to 10mins of appt time. If our main Dr is not available, they have Dr assistance and backup Dr's to cover. My kids and I have been going there for years and Dr Hiploylee is amazing. I'm very grateful.

I love doctor Hiploylee, she's the best I've ever had. The staff are nice and friendly. The one and only thing that bothers me a bit is, THEY NEVER EVER PICK UP THE PHONE!!! It always goes to voicemail, even way before the corona virus. I wish they change this, then they'd get 5 stars from me. God bless.

They cancelled my appointment because l was late 5mins with no forewarning of this policy after travelling for 1hr to see the doctor. I asked to see the doctor to explain my situation but the front desk manager refused. No compassion at all for patients.

Echoing the praise of Dr Chung. He's warm and knowledgeable. But my absolute favourite trait of his, and the reason why I would follow him to another clinic, is that he is not afraid to say "I don't know.. but I'll find out". And he always follows up. This is the best attitude in a primary care physician. I unabashedly can say that I love the man!

Called them four times(on three separate days) and they never pick up their phone. Voicemail said to leave message with my name and phone number and they will get back to us with in 4 business hours. Still waiting for their callback after FOUR BUSINESS DAYS!

I’ve been a patient here for years, and the front desk staff have always been kind and prompt here. Sometimes hard to get through the phone to someone, which is expected honestly as they’re usually quite busy, but any voicemails I’ve left have always been responded to. Dr. Chung is a wonderful family doctor who is worth the travel to see even after I’ve moved towns.

Very efficient system for covid shots. Online booking tool is smooth, and minimal wait time when you arrive.

Very disappointed in staff. Needed my Dr to release 10 days of my antidepressant meds before my appointment. Was informed that this is my fault and will be charged for this. Explained I can't afford that being a single mom just before Christmas. Staff again pointed out this is my fault. Have now been off my meds for over a week. Desperately need my antidepressants

The doctors there are excellent and they have a lot of support staff to keep appointments moving and on time. This has been our family doctors office (Dr McLean) for many years and we find them kind, caring and amazing to deal with.

Absolutely the best medical office I've ever dealt with. Reliable, puntual, knowledgeable. My only complaint is that they haven't taken on new patients for many years, so I haven't been able to get my husband in as a patient. Great work Gates Medical, I'm a very happy patient!

Gates Medical Centre as for GPs is the best since I have lived in Durham. The staff greet you with a SMILE and by name. My doctor is the best. Very caring and knowledgeable. He is not the kind of doctor to rush you out the door and he also listens with his heart.
