It was late afternoon and my wife and I were looking for a new restaurant to try locally. Let's support our small local businesses! I did a little bit of research and came across this restaurant on Google. We were very hungry so we ordered four dishes. 1. Pepper shrimp chow mein 2. Curry goat with roti 3. Alex chicken with steam rice 4. Spicy garlic calamari The restaurant was not busy just a bunch of older guys drinking at the bar. They have a mix and match 5 bottle beer bucket for $19.99. This includes Heineken, Corona, Coors light, Budweiser, Molson Canadian. We noticed their special was $5.99 calamari with choice of spicy garlic, black bean or hot spicy sauce. Great deal!!! The food came out altogether which was nice. Food was hot and spicy. Good thing we had a pitcher of water to wash all it down! The pepper shrimp chow mein had lots of crispy shrimps on top of chow mein noodles (Hakka style noodles). The shrimps were spicy but not over the top. I would have liked more noodles underneath. It seems like the portion is smaller compared to other chowmein dishes. Curry goat had lots of meaty pieces of goat which fall off the bone. The spice level was milder. The roti had plenty of lentils and was great for dipping in the curry. Wife enjoyed it Alex chicken was a chef's specialty named after the owner. There were long pieces of chicken thigh meat coated with a spicy sauce and mixed with onions, green and red chilies. This is similar to dry chili chicken but with a unique taste. Last dish we had was spicy garlic calamari. This was a big surprise as the dish was full of cripsy pieces of calamari stir fried with spicy garlic sauce. This house special at $5.99 was amazing and we will definitely order it again. We will probably come back and try some other items on the menu like their sizzling plates and chef specialty. Update review... I came here for takeout. The restaurant was almost full of patrons. You can smell the aroma from the kitchen. I ordered the dinner special for one now costs $11.95 with a free pop. The box was loaded to the top with Alex chicken and egg fried rice. Taste on point as usual. We also got the goat curry with lots of meat and less bones. The curry sauce had the right amount of spice and was great for dipping my roti. Excellent food and glad their business has picked up more. They still have the $6.99 calamari special. I will grab that next time. Update Nov 2023. For the most recent visit, we came here for lunch. We ordered the lobsters 2 for $34.95 cooked in ginger and green onion, sizzling beef short ribs $17.25 in black pepper sauce, beef lo mein $13.50, and spicy garlic calamari $7.25. The total bill came up to $82.43 The food was definitely worth it. The lobster came out hot and fresh. The beef short ribs were served on a sizzling plate. The beef lo mein was really good but a little bit greasy. The same server is working both the takeout and dine in customers. She's really nice and checks up on us regularly. There's a few large big screen tvs showing live sports at the time. So if you're looking to enjoy NFL sunday then the owner will change the channel to the live game for you. The dining area is clean and spacious. We really enjoyed the food and recommend you come and try the lobster and beef short ribs while dining in. Thank you again Caribbean for a delicious weekend meal.

I've always had take out from here (which never missed a beat), first time dining in. Service was fast after lunch hours and our food arrived hot and fresh. Restaurant is clean inside. The Coconut Breeze appetizer combo stood out the most. First time trying the Short Ribs, the honey spicy sauce was more sweet but you can always add on more pepper sauce for some heat if you need a kick. Their Mango Martini was definitely a surprise, excellently prepared, try that one out when you stop by. The Long Island Ice Tea also was a nice treat.

The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Our waitress was so polite and as a bonus, we didn't have to wait long for our food. I highly recommend the Alex chicken. It was so tender and flavorful. My husband got the sweet and sour chicken and loved it. I will definitely be back and will use them for catering.

This is the second time I ordered food from this location and I was not impressed at all! Today I got the Chicken Fried rice, Shanghai Noodle (which was only half a container full, still looking for the noodles) and the Chili Chicken (which I took back because it didn't like the texture of the chicken at all). I will not be ordering from here again. If you want good Hakka food, check out Fredericks Markham location. Fantastic Chili Chicken and Singapore Noodle dishes.

First time visiting this place. Food portions were very generous. Price was reasonable and felt great considering how large the portions were. Everything was delicious, Spicy rice was a bit too spicy but that's alright. Calamari was delicious as well as the Chilli Chicken. Will definitely be coming back!

The service was great off the bat. The server kindly helped us figure out what to order. The food was amazing, the portions are massive. Great place to try if you're in the area!

I love West Indian/Chinese cuisine and Caribbean Heat has an amazing variety of dishes. I got hooked on the Alex chicken the first time I tried it. I get it with an extra serving of plain rice. The fried rice and lowmein were great, my next trial will be the spicy squid because I love seafood. Large, open, dining room with a quiet atmosphere - except of course for the sounds of chatter and of people enjoying their meals. Helpful and friendly staff are always on hand to make your dining experience great.

Caribbean Chinese cuisine. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. It is one of my favorite take out options. It is also nice for dining in and having a few drinks.

It's been a few years, since before the start of the COVID pandemic, that I've been to Caribbean Heat. They serve delicious Caribbean and Caribbean style Chinese food. I used to love their weekday lunch buffet that offered a variety of foods at a great price. It seems, however, that COVID has put an end to the buffet. They do, however, have some great weekday lunch deals that include a drink. On this visit, I had the Alex Chicken with Fried Rice, apparently named after the chef. It was a very generous serving of deliciousness, easily enough for two people. The boneless chicken was stir-fried with onions and hot peppers, and served over vegetable fried rice. This was only $10.99, including a drink. So good! Although I really like their food, not everything is perfect. I find this place too loud. Usually it's music but this time, the TVs were all cranked up playing the World Cup soccer games. The hard wall surfaces didn't help, resulting in lots of echo. Diners almost had to be shouting in order to be heard and this just contributed to the overall noise level. If you're in Pickering, check them out at Brock and Bayly. ------------------------------------ Previous Review (2000) This place usually has a very good weekday lunch buffet but that's on hold indefinitely, due to COVID. Their Guyanese Chinese style food is very tasty and affordable. On this occasion, we had curry beef with roti, and chicken served over fried rice. Both dishes were very tasty and plentiful. I took home the leftovers for dinner. I've had other items off the menu in the past and have never been disappointed with the taste or value.

I was passing by one day, and decided to try this place out. I’ve only been in Pickering a few months so I’m slowly figuring out all the great eateries. When I went inside, it was busy. Always a good sign. There were lots of people dining and lots more getting takeout like myself. They even have a catering menu that I will be taking advantage of, one day. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to eat, when I stumbled upon the “Alex” chicken. When I asked about it, I was advised that it’s more spicy than the chili chicken. I decided to test it out and BOYYYYYYY was it hot! It was also very tasty. 10/10, will return again.

We visited after the lunch rush this time and had no issues getting a table but lunch rush is always full. The menu has so many good dishes that you won't be disappointed. One of my favourites is the pineapple chicken. The food is all cooked fresh so it's very hot when you get it. Big portions, too!

We we there on Oct 15th to celebrate our family members wedding anniversaries. They set up their party room for us to dine privately. The service was amazing considering how busy the restaurant was. We were taken care of very well. Now the food, all my family members were over the moon with how great the food was. Their honey spiced short ribs are amazing. We had the spicy Calamari, peppered shrimp, fried banga Mary, egg fried rice, shrimp curry, Shanghai noodles, honey spiced short ribs, the lobster plate and the kids had the fries and chicken wings. Not one dish disappointed. This is truly Durham Region West Indian Restaurant Gem. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making our anniversary party a great success. We went there for lunch today and had the spicy squid, peppered shrimp, chili chicken, fried rice with chicken on top, goat curry with rice. The portions are huge. Their chef rocks. Real guyanese food at its best. The restaurant is spotless and the service is excellent. No more trips to Scarborough now that we have discovered this little gem in Pickering right on Bayly and Brock street. The absolute best and most flavourible authentic west Indian food. You all have to try it.

When I go for Caribbean food, I expect it to be prepared by Caribbean people. Our non-caribbean server was not very attentive at all. We had to repeatedly call her over to request more drinks, Cutlery, hot sauce, etc. The portion size was great, and the food tasted good but the atmosphere was less than cozy and seems like the server didn't really care that we were taken care of.

Food is good however service is not up to par. Wings were not given even though we were over the order limit to get them free. If it’s free do we still have to order them? That makes no sense to me.

The food is spicy and tastes great. Lunch was @ $15 bu5 comes with a pop. I didn't finish and the kids rinced it when I got home. Best Chilli Chicken in Durham so far that I've found.

1st experience on a Saturday evening, food, drinks and service was good. Since then , Very inconsistent food quality . Stale food, precook fried chicken being served. Mock calamari, hard fried rice .Guy serving , bartending is miserable, unfriendly. Hope they will Take feedback and make improvements.

Found this place last month. It's become a weekly stop... minimum lol. The food and service has been great. I would recommend the Alex Chicken and Pepper Shrimp. The chicken balls were my only disappointment ...all balls with barely any chicken lol. Most places fail at this dish anyways. Other than that though, all dishes have been great. It's my regular place now. Cheers.

Ordered the curry beef with roti. Everything was good except the beef. They used the same thin sliced beef, like if you ordered beef and broccoli in a chinese restaurant. Tasted boiled then put in the curry.

Went for first time today to eat here…worst chicken on planet earth. Boiled, Rubbery, fatty, smelly, tasteless, foul taste. They use same chicken in all dishes we ordered. Chicken Roti, Shangahi noodle, ate 0 pieces of the chicken. The chicken in the chicken balls and hot and sour soup smelled horrible tool and reeked, was also uncooked, took one bite and returned it, still have the horrible taste in my mouth, they took the unused Chicken balls and Soup off the bill after initially refusing. Brought out doggy bags for me to take home left overs, I adamantly refused, worst chicken in the world, so rubbery could bounce off the walls like an Indian rubber ball. Please switch to using real chicken in your dishes or this place will go the way of the Dodo bird! Bye!!!

Lobster was a great deal. On special snd tasted great. Got the chicken fried rice but it had a dull taste so thought their hot sauce would help but they added way too much vinegar into that pepper sauce. Overall not bad if your in a rush just to grab a bite.

Tried this place for the first time based on a recommendation. Chow mein lacked any kind of flavour including salt. So tasteless... Fried rice was overcooked so it was dry and hard. BBQ chicken tasted ok, but was also on the dry side (probably overcooked). We won't be coming back for food at this restaurant.

Quite possibly the worst chicken I’ve ever had in a roti. Was the typical low-grade dark meat slimy rubber chicken. 80% of the meal went in the garbage.

I've wanted to try this place for a couple of years. I regret waiting so long. Very, very tasty food. Loved every dish. Pepper Shrimp Fried Rice to die for. General Tao, Kung Pao Chicken and Spicy Beef Short Ribs - all tasty. Special Chicken Lo Mein was phenomenal. Lots of leftovers to look forward to tomorrow

Food was amazing service was excellent! Would come back even if they increased their price by 50%!!!! It's a steal what they're charging. I would recommend their Alex chicken, never had chicken so tender before.
