I recently visited Hotel Pinnalanda in Sri Lanka and had a delightful experience. One of the highlights of my visit was witnessing the Pinnawala elephant bathing, which was an incredible sight to behold. The view from the hotel was spectacular, and it was a treat to be able to witness this beautiful and pleasant site from the comfort of my seat. As for the food, I ordered a vegetable burger with fries and salad on the side. The food was delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The burger was well-prepared, and the fries were crispy and flavorful. The salad was fresh and perfectly complemented the burger. The service at Hotel Pinnalanda was also noteworthy. The waiter was polite and attentive, and made sure that all my needs were met. The chilled Lion beers added to the overall experience. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Hotel Pinnalanda and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. The Pinnawala elephant bathing was a truly unique experience, and the food and service at the hotel were top-notch.

Rooms and bathrooms are new and comfortable but the rest of the hotel is pretty ugly, looks like an example of north-korean concrete architecture. Dinner was pretty scary, you sit in this dark place (walls are painted black) with a light pointed in your face. Breakfast also nothing special. We had to clean the pool by ourselves and pool itself is located just below the street level and next to it, so passers-by the just stop and stare at you. If you want to see elephants I recommend a nice safri, it is much better and the poor animals are left free,

hotel steward’s are going to be like General Manager. They don’t know how to respect each others. Specially in weddings, it’s not nice work. Hospitality are very poor for music bands and photographers at least no water to drink.

We had a lovely time at Grand Hotel Pinnalanda, this was our 2nd time at theirs. Such lovely and helpful staff, always goes above to help their guests. “Ela” and Miraj both were very attentive to all the guests and helpful at their best. There was some issues with the electricity in our room, but Mahesh (electrician) and Miraj took care of it during our stay, going above and beyond to ensure we are not disturbed with the power issues. A huge thank to Shantha, the manager who is a people pleaser and always tries to make every guest returns to them again. He even helped us buying tickets for the elephant bathing session. The two lovely ladies at the reception (sorry we couldn’t take their names) were welcoming, polite and friendly. We are definitely going there again next time we visit Sri Lanka. To the owners of this property - Your strength is your lovely staff, take good care of them! There’s a lot of room for you to improve things in this property for more guests to return to you on their next visit to Pinnawala. Try and invest some money on improvements in the property and your guests will pay happily to enjoy as your hotel has the best view of the river. Also we believe that you don’t need to keep the minibar filled in all rooms, not even 5 star hotels do that nowadays. Instead, invest some money on improvements and maintenance of the property. It’s a lovely property that needs a bit of love from the owners.

Super room, super food and super view. Bathroom also cleand well. Room is well equipped except WiFi. However Wifi is broken. We took room number 304. As it seems hotel is keeping number 300 range rooms for foreigners. For locals they providing other rooms. But 300 rooms are the ones has super wide angle view. While we booking the room via call, we asked a room number starting from 300. But once we going to check-in they have booked something else. So we again asked any room starting from number 300 and then receptionist talked to the manager and provided room number 304. From number 300 series rooms we can watch maha oya fully thru balcony and can watch elephant bathing till 4PM from 8.30AM. HOWEVER JUST PLEASE CHECK AND COMFIRM THE VIEW FROM ROOM BALCONY BEFORE BOOK. Must say the staff working here is very friendly. And also we can arrange a table for balcony by a request. Then we can use that for liquor or for food. Food is superb here. They have very good buffet area with lots of foods. There is a beautiful pool also included but it is in other building. Previously that building is owned by other hotel. But now it seems that building also owned by hotel Pinnalanda. At night we asked a small table near by the pool area to have a liquor. Everything was perfect. They serves both hard liquor and beers. Bar foods also tasty. Andd small music team also available. We can ask to play any song by a request. Then they will come to our table and sing. Please give some tip to those guys if u are willing to listen any songs. In our room milk powder was not included. So we dial 0 via the telephone and requested it. Parking space available for free

I had an exceptional stay at this hotel! The staff, especially Andrew, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. From exploring a traditional wedding to bathing with elephants, the experiences offered were unforgettable. The breakfast variety was impressive, the WiFi reliable, and the rooms were spotless. A truly memorable and delightful stay!

During my recent food requirement from Pinnalanda Hotel, I had the pleasure of experiencing a truly outstanding food ordering service, all thanks to the incredible support of Mr. Chandana, the manager. I am deeply appreciative of the efforts made by Mr. Chandana and the team at Pinnalanda Hotel to make my food ordering experience so smooth and enjoyable.

Since I visited 1.5 years a go this place has improved dramatically. Specially the pool area. Food and the presentation was very authentic and the service was extremely attentive. Paired with a unique view it is an experience to remember. If you want to get up close to elephants in a one of a kind setting you won’t be disappointed.

We recently stayed 2 nights at the hotel. The rooms were neat and clean. The bathroom was nice and modern, and had everything you needed. We got the room 206, and even though we didn't book a room with river-view, we could still see the river. Such a bonus. Sleeping here was lovely and comfortable. The staff was excellent. Everyone's so friendly and helpful.. They know the area well, and is kind to give suggestions. The best part of staying at the hotel was for sure the elephant-experience. In the morning, go for breakfast before 8.30. The elephants will walk from the orphanage to the river around 8.30. Such a lovely experience. We were lucky enough to enjoy the twins for an hour playing around in the river. The staff is very respectful toward the animals, and will not allow you to feed them. Which is good. The waiter at the restaurant was kind to tell us, that more elephants would come to the river around 10. We decided to enjoy the view from the pool area. And it was pure joy. Around 25 elephants walking around the river, playing and bathing. For hours.. We highly recommend the hotel, if you want to experience the beautiful elephants while staying in a nice hotel.. You for sure have the best view from here.

By the way I'm not talking about the rooms here. We had lunch at their restaurant. And it is one of the worst places for dinning. Only good thing about this restaurant was the location where you can see elephant bathing. The place was so ugly and untidy. They don't even bother to clean the restaurant. Most worst thing was it smelled like we were inside a broken toilet. Not recommending for dinning at all. Althogh the food looked good it wasn't up to the standards.
