This is the best place to view elephants up close They walk the elephants down to the river so they can roam around and play in the water It is fantastic just to watch them play and you are very close to them I could watch them for hours this way just doing what they love to do

Watching bathing elephants is a fantastic view. Apparently there are 60+ animals in this shelter and they have all been rescued. Some were chained (maybe 2-3) so I was reading about the reasons and these are the more aggressive/ misbehaving ones, mainly males. The other elephants are walking freely and enjoying their baths.

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an amazing place to visit if you're a nature lover and especially if you're fond of elephants. One of the main attractions of this orphanage is the elephant bathing place, where you can witness more than 30 elephants bathing in a river. The best time to visit the elephant bathing place is between 10 am to 12 noon or 2 to 4 pm. The elephants here are well-cared for and you can see them living in a natural environment that is as close to their natural habitat as possible. Overall, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a nice place to visit if you want to spend some time with these beautiful Sri Lankan Elephants . It's a great place to take the family and enjoy some time in nature. The orphanage provides a unique opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close and personal.

Amazing scenery to see the elephants catching our eyes through their games in the river. It’s located inside a lane direct opposite to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. In this place elephants usually visit to take a bath. Tourists will be allowed to touch the elephants with the guidance of care takers for payments.

Place is used to bring elephants for bathing twice a day. Morning and afternoon. It's nice view to see those elephants passing by so closed to people, completely ignoring them. But, always need to remember, those elephants are semi wild and should not approach carelessly. Specifically, they got small baby elephants with them and need to lookout. If someone need to take a picture with elephant, sometimes they can by talking in advance. There are events, for feeding elephants, as in the picture, but not free.

This bathing site is located on the opposite side of the elephant orphanage by the river Ma Oya. Elephants are herded two times daily to this site for bathing. Watching elephants in water is one of the most popular activities to be done at Pinnawala. However it is better to keep your distance from elephants.

The elephants are taken here from the orphanage to have a bath around 2 pm. You can use the same ticket you bought for the orphanage to get in here. It's actually pretty cool seeing a bunch of elephants enjoying their time. If you are going to buy food around this place, be aware that the price is a bit higher than the regular price. Tourists are allowed to touch and take photographs with the elephants with the guidance of care takers, with a little payment of course.

This is the place elephants are taken to have their daily bathing. Around 20-30 elephants take bathing at once . There is 2 elephants bathing sessions sessions daily and one start at 10am and other start at 2pm. There are few small hotels and restaurants where you can have a meal or snack while watching these giants taking a bath. Or els you stand and watch them near the river. It’s a very interesting thing to watch them having a bath and daily 1000s of people from locally and overseas come to watch this.

Great to watch... Elephant not always like to have bath, people have to work hard to make them clean. They bring the elephants in two schedule morning 10-12 and evening 2- 4. Officials keep making warning Alarm while elephants are brought from orphanage to river so that people are alerted.
