This hostel is perfectly located. The walls and doors are very thin. You can hear a lot noises. Mostly it is clean. Sometimes the toilets are dirty but this is because of the guests who are living there. The bed is old and super used. Not really comfortable. But the staff is friendly! In total it's ok for the money.

Hands down this is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are INCREDIBLE and plan so many activities each day. I was getting tired of hostel pub crawls and Onefam planned much more original activities such as tapas nights, street festivals, day trips, pool days, sunset picnics, and of course bar and club nights too. Almost every night there was a free dinner downstairs and the best was Papa Angel’s dinner. Rooms are great, have AC, no bunks, and no 10 person rooms. All of the bathrooms are private too which I loved. On top of all of this, the staff helped a friend of mine late at night when they were robbed ensuring that they were okay the next day and letting them use the hostel phone to contact family and cancel their bank cards. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Pros: - Very friendly and welcoming staff! Excellent people who can speak many languages - Excellent location in the center and between 3 metro stations - Very well equipped kitchen - comfortable beds - clean rooms, toilets, showers… Cons: - Very noisy during the night! people will be crossing the street and yelling all night long! The windows aren’t soundproof! - There’s no elevator for those who might need it.

It was a pretty good hostel. Friendly people and staff, tons of tours and group activities, and tapas every night. The whole staff would remember your name and were always happy to help or give advice. The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable. It really is in the heart of the city, so everything is within walking distance. The only thing I would change is the shower curtains are a bit too long for the showers and so the bottom stays wet pretty much all day. Also be aware that it’s on the second floor and there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your bags!! (But the guys are more than happy to carry them for you if you need)

Almost perfect, a very nice experience with lovely activities throughout, definitely worth it and would recommend. Negatives are the climbing the four floors every time and bathrooms can be a bit far depending on your room. Lovely staff tho. Oh and the street noise is also something to keep in mind.

I was a bit nervous when choosing on a hostel, it was my first time and I couldn’t be more happy and satisfied with my experience. The reviews really live up to the expectations. Place is decorated very lovely, the rooms are nice and comfortable, the atmosphere is just fantastic. Everything is very clean and the staff is simply AMAZING. Angel y Alonso were super nice and caring and I really want to thank them for adding to my experience, cos this really was an unforgettable trip. Thank you so much and see you soon. Now I know where to book every time I go to madrid. Loved it.

This was by far the best hostel in Europe so far. Such an amazing group of people to welcome you and help out with almost every single thing. Every night there is some event or another. They don't have bunk beds which was pretty good and beds were comfortable. Definitely going to stay here during next visit....

We stayed here in 2021 and we had such an amazing experience. This was my first hostel and to be honest I was a little scared because I've watched one too many horror movies. But wow the experience was even better than a hotel. Everyone is super friendly, dinner is cooked fresh, some breakfast snacks provided, onsite laundry, and an amazing location!

This hostel is absolutely amazing! Big enough rooms, very good AC, clean and big bathrooms, free toiletries and big chill areas where you can meet new people. I also loved the activities (like daily tours or picnics to watch the sunset) and sometimes free food (tapas night, churros in the morning). The staff is so lovely, too! So so great, would definitely go again!

Great location and nice facilities but the best is the excellent service, the staff is super friendly and go all the way and beyond to make you feel welcome and help you make your stay the best it is. It says "no breakfasts" but their snacks are plenty and definitely counts. A lot of varied activities too to help you know your fellow travelers. Will stay there again and definitely recommended

A great hostel! I was really surprised to see so many activities and it was nice to see the staff so involved with everyone and being so open and friendly! If you ever go to Madrid, this truly is the place to stay in! (plus bonus part, it's literally in the center of everything, you couldn't get a better location ;) )

One of the best hostels that I have ever stayed. It's located in the heart of Plaza Del Sol and within walking distance from various Madrid tourist attractions. The hostel has many activities (Toledo trip, tapas night, nightclub visits with no cover) and free breakfast everyday (and free dinner on some nights). Angel was very welcoming and gave me abundant recommendations and details about what to do in Madrid. The volunteers (Florian, Ipek, Agustin, Gabriel, Felicia, Valentin) were friendly, inclusive, and professional. Also, the bed and room were very comfortable, secured, and well-insulated from noise and there were many bathrooms in the hostel. I never felt lonely and enjoyed my vacation to the fullest. I will definitely come back when I visit Madrid

Super friendly staff and awesome events. Rooms were clean and many services offered including laundry at reasonable prices. Highlight was definitely the staff. Special shoutout to Jenny, Carlos and Angel that made my stay an 11/10!

There are a lot of really good things about this hostel. Mainly the cheery staff and the activities stand out. The location is perfect. But the price is very high for what is offered. The furniture as well as beds are super cheap. The bathrooms are clean but have some broken tiles here and there and don't smell good. Also the breakfast is only churros and some apples everyday. Towels and shampoo is provided at extra cost. This is generally fine but for the price it should be included and the amenities should be in much better condition as well as better mattresses and furniture.

I visited this hostel last week and before that 4 years ago. And even though many years and lockdowns went by and the staff changed, the atmosphere did not! It is still the same welcoming place where you can easily meet other people to hang out with :) Almost every night you have dinner together with who stays at the hostel and literally every night the staff takes you out to bars or clubs! The staff gave me the same feeling of love and care and dedication that I felt 4 years go :D It truly is an amazing place !

This is one of the best hostels in the world. Lovely atmosphere, comfort beds, lovely shows and convenient location for Madrid. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. It’s so easy to meet new people as a solo traveller and I would highly recommend taking the day trips! Special mention to Agustin, Jake, Gabi.

Awesome hostel, as a 1s time in a hostel guest i was kind of skeptical. But Sungate one was pretty much the best experience i could have imagined. Special mention to Carlos, who checked us in in the middle of the night and was super friendly and welcoming, Gabriel who took us to some local spots and on a walking tour of Toledo and Angel, who seemed to always be around to help out anyone that needed anything, from recommendations to practical info. The free breakfast is a great way to start your day, have a chat in the kitchen/common room and decide what you are doing and with who. Free tours of Madrid every day, tons of other activities ranging from making (and eating) Tapas, to pub-crawls and picknicks at sunset. If you don't want to do those events, they have a google maps with suggestions for you. 24H Reception, so always someone to ask your questions to or ask for help. They also seem to be cleaning the place all the time, so very clean and tidy. The other guest where also great during our stay but of course, we might just have gotten lucky there.

Sungate Hostel is absolutely amazing!! I’ve stayed here twice and had a great time as a solo female traveler. Friendly staff, volunteers and visitors with many outings and activities- even with COVID. Highly recommend! You can’t be any closer to the best of Madrid

Such a great hostel if you’re a solo traveler and looking to meet new people. Stuff had made that part so easy by doing different social activities. Walking tours, day trips, free tapas nights, picnics etc,. Rooms are ok. I’ve stayed in the 4 female room, and there was plenty of space. Bed was comfy. Never had to wait for a shower or a toilet, there were many on our floor. Location is superb, literally 3 min walking from not one, but two metro stations. So overall my stay was really good! However, be ready for a walk to the second floor with your luggage (no lift). If your room is facing to the inside of the building you will hear EVERYTHING. So probs not for light sleepers. And you’ll need to take your own lock and towel with you, they don’t provide those

It's just perfect! It was my second time staying in a hostel and the first one was not great, so I was really anxious going in here but it totally changed my mind! First of all the location is just the best, it's in the center of the city with access to two Metro stations and 10 minute walk from anything. The staff are nice to a certain degree, and the private room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, but there was no cupboard. The shared spaces (bathroom, shower, kitchen) were spotless, fridge was a bit of a mess though.

I had an awesome time at Sungate One. The size of the hostel is perfect you meet a large amount of people frequently and there is a family feeling while staying there. The staff are great as well always looking out for you and preparing events such as free meals or free day trips to nearby cities. Still in love with the Hostel One brand

Decent budget-grade hostel, but not at a budget price level. Also accepts large youth groups it seems (there was one there while I stayed) which can be obnoxious for solo travelers. It would be a fine hostel if it were a bit cheaper, but I don’t see why it’s the best rated in Madrid, I’ve stayed at cleaner & comfier hostels in India.

This is one of the best hostel that I have stayed. They have free churros for breakfast, free tour every morning (and the tour is amazing, you can’t miss it), a list of places to go (all the recommendations are great). During the check in the staff give you a map and explain to you where is the main places to go. All they staffs are extremely friend and they suggested me really good places to eat with good price. The hostel is also full of activities. Definitely I will stay here again.

An amazing place to stay in Madrid! The location couldn’t be better, you can reach all the must-have-seen stuff easily by walk or public transport. The staff is super chilled & very helpful. The hostel has all important stuff you might need & also offers free coffee, tea & churros every morning. I’d also recommend to join the daily activities offered (most of them for free). It’s been a pleasure & I’ll be back for sure!

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we think we made the best decision to pick this hostel. The staff is super friendly and helpful. As for the location, I don't think you can get a better spot, because it was right next to the city center. Although our room had windows directed towards busy street, the windows were quite soundproof so our sleep wasn't disturbed at all. The room equipment was OK, the place was clean and tidy. The majority of hostel guests are Americans and Australians, but you will meet people from all around the world :)

  • 5/5 Luka J. 5 months ago on Google
Very social hostel on great location, with everyday activities and free snacks/dinner on most days. Rooms and common areas were very clean and spacious enough. All staff and guests were great to be around. Overall a superb experience.

Staying in this hostel radically changed my trip to Madrid for the better. The variety of services provided by the staff was stellar! I particularly had multiple great experiences with Abdy and Harry as they really provided a welcoming atmosphere for me and the rest of the guests! Will come again :^)

I stayed for a weekend in Onefam Madrid! Everything went well and smooth! The guys on the reception all of them they were super super helpful, Special thanks for Abdy and Teresa for the help they provided from the check in till the check out, literally they helped with everything single thing regardless if it’s something in the hostel or anything I needed during my stay in Madrid The hostel community is very active and always on activities and dinners! And its worth mentioning that regardless of the energy inside the hostel, the rooms remain quite during the day and at the night as well.

I got there at night and was received with a hot dinner plate. This hostel is perfect to meet new people and make friends, the free family dinners and outings are super fun! Everyone is really friendly and helpful. The hostel is really clean and comfortable and the location is excellent you can walk everywhere in 20min max.

AMAZING HOSTEL and AMAZING STAFF!! Super sociable, with different activities everyday. (If you're travelling solo DONT HESITATE stay here. I stayed in other famous hostels in Madrid and this one was the best.) Also it's super clean, has lots of bathrooms and no bunk beds. (i left the hostel for an airbnb and I regret it soooo much. I still visit everyday and i wish i just stayed at the hostel until the end of my stay in Madrid) HIGHLIGHTS: >>> Toledo trip with Gabi. Don't miss it. The city is amazing and Gabi is chill and a lot of fun. Also he took a bunch of pictures of all of us :) >>> Walking tour with Mel. The girl is just hilarious. It was a great way to find out more about Madrid. >>> Coworking space. if before coming to Madrid I knew they had one, i wouldn't have booked the airbnb. All I have to say is: Thanks Sungate One for making Madrid even more amazing.

I absolutely loved it! The rooms were clean, they offered various cool activities throughout the week and you could always find someone to chat with. The staff were incredibly nice and it was so lovely to hear their stories and talk to them :) I've especially made friends with Teo and Melissa. Both of them were soooooo nice and I wish I would have had more time with them. Whenever I had the slightest doubt about anything/ or just needed a recommendation of where to go that day I would ask them :)) I hope I can return soon!!!! <33

Don’t stay in this hostel if you coming on holiday to Madrid you will feel like you’re in quarantine hotel!!!! some of the staff are very psycho about rules ! Sheets and blankets are outdated could do the new ones ! Just at any other hostel not this one !

I went on a spontaneous trip to Madrid a few weeks ago and stayed in Sungate One. Two weeks later I came back cause I totally loved the city AND the hostel family! Nothing but good about this place, can totally recommend

  • 5/5 Juan S. 2 years ago on Google
This is the best hostel ever! I enjoyed it so much I extended my original stay and also stopped by again later on my trip in between destinations. The staff and volunteers are super friendly and are some of the coolest people I've met. Plus I had a great experience of meeting a lot of fellow travelers from all over the world who quickly became friends. Shout out to the following (in random order): Agus for being my first friend in Madrid, Melissa for being the best tour guide ever, Gabi for all the fun events he led and always being around to help, Amit for the great conversations we had, and Carlos for keeping everything looking good at night and making sure I was good after partying. Besides being a place to crash at theres: day trips to Toledo or Segovia, walking tour of Madrid, bar crawls, clubbing, and beautiful sunset picnics all organized by the staff! So you're getting a lot more than just a bed! The people here made me feel at home and like part of the family so quickly that it made me want to never leave! If you're looking to have fun and meet great people come here! I know I'll be back again!

From the moment I entered the door I was greeting but some of the nicest and most helpful staff I’ve ever encountered at a hostel! I especially want to thank Agus for being so incredible. She was always happy to answer any questions I had about my stay, the city, and made me feel right at home. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Madrid!

A great hostel! Superb location. The staff is awesome, funny and helpful. Clean and nice vibes. They also do regular activities like tours and pubs, which contribute to the friendly and warm atmosphere. I had a great time! And Amit is the man ;)

Had an amazing experience here. The atmosphere is very social due to the daily planned activities. They have free breakfast and occasionally dinner. There was also free sangria my first night there. The staff here are so welcoming and friendly and truly make this place feel like “home”. Highly recommend this hostel for solo travellers trying to meet other people or for groups of friends wanting to meet some awesome travellers.

I can’t wait to come back to Sungate. It’s such a welcoming environment and all the programming the hostel has is great. Much love to Carlos, Valentín, Jack, Alonso, Augustina, Augustín, Gabriel, and so many more of the hostel staff for making the experience so lovely and fun.

My friends and I had an amazing stay at Sungate Hostel!! Walking in, I immediately noticed how clean and welcoming the environment was. The staff was so warm and friendly, and eager to help you with anything! The best part about the stay for me was the community created in the hostel. We were only there for a short time, but the staff and other guests treated us like close friends. The staff showed us some special spots in Madrid, made us complimentary tapas, and escorted us to various nightlife spots. Truly, it was a very special trip and I would highly recommend Sungate One Hostel to everyone!!

We had a really great time staying at Sungate One! The location is amazing and central to everything we wanted to do while in Madrid. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and they gave great suggestions for restaurants and activities. The rooms and facilities were clean and well kept. We took advantage of the co-working space and movie room. The social activities were great as well, and we really enjoyed the free walking tour. I would definitely stay here again!

Look no further. This is the hostel for you. It is the perfect location central to everything. The staff is incredibly friendly and they have fun activities everyday. The hostel is very clean (rooms and bathrooms) and they even have a free breakfast. We met so many travelers from around the world and the staff is local. Stay here and enjoy all that Madrid has to offer.

Stayed here in July during the record hottest days in Madrid and this place was a safe haven from the heat. It is in the most central location. The front desk people were very nice and informative. The hostel runs great *FREE* tours and events and makes it very easy to meet other people. The rooms and bathrooms were really nice *with air conditioning* and I would definitely stay here again.

Sungate One is the best hostel in Madrid and all of Spain! The staff were all so welcoming, it immediately felt like a family vibe. Every night they have different events like tapas, sangria, cooking tortilla, and going clubbing. The rooms feel big and no bunk beds - so nice. It's always clean! I can't recommend it enough - you have to stay here! Thank you to all the staff for the environment and memories made! 💓

  • 5/5 Tania C. 1 year ago on Google
I cannot recommend Sungate One enough! I stayed in 4 hostels during my 2.5 week trip in Spain and this was by far the best. This was my first stop on my first solo trip and I was really nervous but I immediately felt at home when I got to the hostel. The staff was so friendly and helpful whenever I asked for suggestions of things to do or places to get food. I went to the tapas tour on my first day and planned to have an early night but ended up staying out all night with my new friends! The front lobby and kitchen area is a great way to meet people and the staff always makes sure everyone’s having a good time. The rooms were nice and spacious, there were plenty of bathrooms and showers, everything was really clean. There were both daytime and nighttime activities and everywhere we went was inexpensive. Location was amazing so you could easily walk everywhere or take the metro. This was the perfect start to my vacation and I was lucky enough to spend 1 extra night there before going back home because I missed my flight. I highly recommend Sungate One and I told multiple people to stay there when they got to Madrid and everyone loved it. Thank you so much Gabi, Val, Angel, Tato, Agustin, Sara, & anyone else that I’ve missed for creating such a fun, welcoming environment and making me feel like part of the family! I can’t wait to visit again!!
