Beautiful church both on the outside and the inside. Loved the service as well, too bad there weren't more people present

A beautiful ancient temple where the residence of the Metropolitan of Plovdiv is located. The temple with ancient architecture is beautifully painted with icons. Services every morning at 9 o'clock and in the evening at about 16 o'clock

Beautiful church with richly colored paintings on the arched ceilings of the portico. The inside is filled with icons and murals and carved wood. It feels very peaceful and is a lovely place to rest and /or pray. There is also a multitered carved wooden bell tower on the property just outside of the church.

Very nice church very close to the Roman theater. A wooden bell tower and many old paintings. Inside the church you'll see a beautifully wooden crafted alter and many icons as well as oil lamps. Worth a look.

The renovated frescas are clashing with the conservative architecture. Speakers are very loud during service and the service is being broadcasted live on TV. Camera men don't care about privacy. The unique wooden bell tower in the back is a must-see.

This is the bishop orthodox church in Plovdiv. Located next to the main pedestrian street (opposite the stairs where the Roman stadium starts). The bishop of Plovdiv is named Nikolay.

Tried to call to ask about Easter service time but as soon as they heard I spoke English they just hung up. I tried calling again but they basically kept on hanging up. Not professional especially for tourists who want to celebrate Easter.

One of the oldest churches in Plovdiv. It has been built already during the reign of the Roman empire to address the needs of the first Christian community in the town. Back in these centuries Plovdiv had a different name Philippopolis. During the centuries it has been destroyed many times and rebuilt again. The last of these reconstructions took place around mid of the 19th century. Definitely worth seeing besides that is located directly near the main pedestrian area of the city center and gives the opportunity to make a prayer and take a break from the busy life. The garden around the church is nicely decorated with lots of flowers a welcome oasis for the spirit middle in the heart of Plovdiv.
