This place is the most unwelcoming place to watch a college football game. If you’re an Alabama fan, stay away from here. We arrived 45 minutes before they opened, because they can’t be bothered to update their hours of operation online. The owner allowed us to grab a seat and turned the screen tv on our channel, but never turned on the sound to our pre-game. It made sense when an Arkansas fan who must be a regular at the place walks in right at 12:00, 45 minutes after us, and sits at the bar and the owner turns the sound onto the Arkansas/South Carolina game and when we kindly asked if there was any way that the sound could be turned on for the Alabama/Texas game, the owner laughed and said that the Arkansas fan arrived before us and would not be turning on the sound for our game. We immediately left because who wants to patronize a place that blatantly lies and treats customers like that?

First of all...the place was completely empty...and I was surprised as it is called The Black Pearl...so the bartender when I asked how it got that name, didn't have a clue, but was QUICK to tell me it wasn't from that "stupid Johnny Depp movie". We are HUGE PoC fans...and as far as football goes...Texans and Bears fans...so he had to emphasize that they were "a Patriots bar" (sounded like he was from Boston). No menu offered for food and the hand poured drinks were as light as the footballs during deflategate. Worst drinks and service...of course we looked across the street and saw a pirate flag (skull n crossbones), a US flag and a Marine Corps flag...we went to investigate ..and found Murphy's fine food and spirits. It was 3/4 full, great ambiance and atmosphere. We spent 4x the amount there, on fantastic fish n chips as well as a great cheesesteak that I could only eat half of...the drinks flowed beautifully, and we left a very generous tip as the bartendress was social, funny and made us laugh! Skip the Black Pearl and go to Murphy's across the street! Way better place!

Super cool place with a nice vibe but our bartender Casey made it the greatest Saturday afternoon you could ever imagine! She was entertaining, very accommodating, and had no problems juggling a large crowd and keeping everybody happy with their drink of choice! Will absolutely be back very soon! Was looking for a new bar for Saturday afternoon and this will be it!

This is an awesome place. The bartender, Brittany was by herself tonight because another staff member didn't show up. She did amazing!! The bar was fully packed and she handled it. We will definitely be coming back regularly.

We had to show love to this low key local bar. Friendly and welcoming staff and just overall a good vibe.

Very nice spot. I was born and raised in NY but this cool bar that is covered in Boston baseball memorabilia doesn't scare me. The staff are friendly and always greet you with a smile and a hello. Stop on in and have a cold one. You won't regret it.

The bar was a very friendly place. Everyone in the bar made me fill like I was a regular. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 10.

Oddly, no one there at 8 pm on Saturday, but Theresa (our mixologist from Connecticut) is smart, savvy, and the consummate professional. The establishment is clean and has plenty of TVs for a great sports-watching experience.
