This
is
THE
beach
when
I
was
a
child.
We
(and
everybody
else)
would
bring
our
own
home
cooked
food
in
metal
tiffin
and
tupperware,
a
mat,
umbrellas
and
what
have
you,
spread
it
out,
and
forked
a
couple
of
ringgits
to
rent
the
huge
tyre
tube
as
pelampung...
Then
we'll
play
and
bath
at
the
beach
until
out
digits
are
wrinkly
and
our
skin
burned
like
a
roasted
peanut
(or
lobster).
Good,
old
times...
It
is
sad
that
nowadays
everything
costs
money,..
The
beach
is
undeniably
cleaner
now,
with
better
facilities,
and
lots
of
food
and
games
being
offered,
but
everything
comes
at
a
cost,
and
well,
ok,
that's
fair
The
bane
of
it
though,
is
that
you
have
to
fork
out
substantial
amount
of
money
just
to
have
a
good
spot
on
the
beach!
You
would
have
to
rent
a
tent
at
a
ridiculous
price
just
to
sit
down
with
your
family?
And
if
you
don't,
good
luck
because
the
tents
are
everywhere,
as
if
they're
the
landlord
of
the
land
and
we
are
all
just
peasants
who
don't
deserve
to
have
your
own
time
and
private
space
on
the
the
beach
So
(sigh)
two
stars
only,
for
the
natural
beach.
You
are
really
better
off
a
hundred
metres
both
ways
from
this
place,
where
the
beach
is
cleaner,
quieter,
and
best
of
all,
free.
