the

Petite
Montague,
the
Citadel
Fort
is
located
at
a
height
of
100
metres.
Also
known
as
the
Adelaide
Fort
(named
after
the
wife
of
William
II,
when
the
British
held
land
in
Port
Louis),
the
fort
offers
stunning
views
of
the
harbour
and
the
entire
city
of
Port
Louis.
Constructed
in
the
19th
century
by
Colonel
Cunningham
to
protect
the
British
Army
from
the
enemy,
the
Citadel
Fort
has
been
constructed
in
a
Moorish
style,
complete
with
horse
shoe
arches.
The
fort
has
been
constructed
using
large
rectangular
blocks.
In
present
times
the
fort
has
been
converted
into
a
National
monument.
Surrounding
the
fort
are
also
the
Caudan
Water
Front
and
the
vast
Indian
Ocean.
Fort
Citadel
remains
a
popular
tourist
destination
owing
to
the
stunning
views
it
provides.
