Extremely popular, especially with the locals so its almost always full. Must call and reserve ahead. The service team is extremely friendly. We went here for the Francesinha and the rissoles (fried meat patties) and were not disappointed. Both the beef and shrimp rissoles were too good! The portion sizes of the mains are quite big so best to go with an appetite.

3 stars are for the staffs, they were more than welcoming and caring. The food was not tasty for our taste but the beer were ok. The starters were ok but too oily. I can’t recommend it to anyone in love with spices and salt.

This Portuguese restaurant is probably the best one in the town. They have really great service and friendly staff, however, none of them speak English. So, try to practice your Portuguese or use a translator if you can't speak the local Language. The food was worth the price!!!!! Try their Franceshinha and the desert! 💕☺️ we had two dinner meals with a big portion (but it was normal for them), two fancy beers and one jar of Sangria cost us 44 euros. We were too full for dessert, unfortunately :( This restaurant has so many customers, please avoid coming in the peak hours or you should wait to be seated. I love the atmosphere in the restaurants. They also have a bar 🍻 Hope you enjoy the restaurant as much as I did 😊

One of traditional stops for lunch or dinner in Porto. Away from the touristic Hotspots it is possible to enjoy your meal in a relaxed manner. Had the francesinha with a nice cold superbock from the tap. Our waiter was pleasent and quick recovery explained a bit of the history of the restaurant and answered all our questions The food was comforting

Very nice environment. I tried the fish there and it’s great, I can totally recommend it. Besides, they make their own beer and the IPA Amber is by far one of the best beers I’ve ever tried. A friend of ours from Porto recommended us this place. It’s a local restaurant so you don’t see that many foreigners over here. I could tell by the way waiters were putting extra attention 😉 Still I loved the experience 👍 I’d be glad to come again whenever I’m back in Porto. You really need to come here if you’re in town! 🍛🍻

I went back to Capa Negra II during this 2nd visit to Porto and still found it amazing. Their "francesinhas" are absolutely delicious, my family's chicken salad and beef was also very tasty. Dessert was yummy too. We had a great visit. The only thing that we did not appreciate was that even though we had a late lunch and they wanted to close, mind you we were not the only ones in the restaurant, someone went and turned off the TV's near us and would stand behind looking at us all as though to hurry us off. I fully understand the hours but if you have paying clients that are almost done it wouldn't hurt to wait a bit. It's called Respect. Overall service and food was great.. will go back.

We ordered two francesihna and asked for the Bavarian weis beer. We were told that it's sold out and so we were offered the super Bock. We have received the food without napkins which is hardly working out with this kind of food. Later on, we saw people inside drinking dark beer so we asked for it but the waiter told us again that all this beer is sold out "solo super Bock". So we asked him what the people inside the restaurant were drinking and all of a Siddon we have received it as well. So the food and the location is just fine and famous - people were waiting for free tables outside - but the waiter was just awful.

The vegeterian francesinha is just filled with random veggies, terrible… for the normal francesinha they have added olives to the ham which is super weird and not common at all. AND THE TOILET BROKEN

October 12, 2023. Thursday. Dinner. Our first night in Porto and we decided to visit this joint. It was directly across from our hotel and seemed to be packed with locals. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated and every table looked to be full. Even the dining counters were full. This place reminded me of an American diner. Every waiter bustled to and fro and I think all of them were guys. Our waiter recommended a red wine blend (17 euros) called Quinta Crasto which turned out to be exceptionally delicious. The only problem was that the wine did NOT pair well with the heavy food. I ate a caldo verde (5 euros) a hearty, thick Portuguese soup with kale, chorizo, and potatoes. The soup tasted good, though I wished they included more chorizo. My wife ordered with the traditional Francesinha with egg and fries (14 euros). It looked like most people in the restaurant were ordering this. Her dish had lots of fries and was piled high. They are very generous with the food here and she left a few fries on her plate. I couldn't help her because I barely finished my bacalhau braga (23 euros). My dish came with fried cod buried in brown gravy, carrots and cauliflower, and lots of potato chips on the side. Basically a Portuguese take on fish and chips. The cod tasted light and amazing but the very filling, heavy food and wine didn't go well. I think a light, carbonated drink would go well with this food. Service was fast, food piled high and very generous, and the other diners were very comforting to see. Prices were low, so we visited here once more before leaving Porto.

The food was very good but our waiter was extremely rude. Basically, because we were not Portuguese speaking, we were an afterthought. I had to get the owner's attention to get our bill and take away containers. We when the waiter brought the bill it like he been forced to give to us. Needless to say not impressed will not go again, even if very convenient being right across the road from the hotel.

If you're looking for an authentic "francesinha", this is definitely the place to grab one. They don't only make francesinhas, they have yoir typical portuguese staples as well. Great atmosphere, very clean and the service is great. Highly recommend if you're in Porto.

Relaxed and most enjoyable. Various eating options on offer. This evening we enjoyed coffee and a delicious ice cream and ordered a take-away chicken soup that we enjoyed later at home. On other occasions we've enjoyed a full dinner with wine. The range and flexibility of Capa Negra II's menus is a real strength.

It was my first Francesinha and what a place to have it! It was absolutely amazing! It’s a bit outside of the more downtowny Porto area so it seemed much more local which was very nice! It had very diner vibes which was interesting and unique!

We were in Porto for a few days living near this restaurant. We stopped to eat lunch on one of the days and had to come back as we ate the most unique Portuguese traditional soup. The food was delicious. The meat and shrimp patties were to die for. Absolutely love this restaurant.

Very typical Portuguese restaurant filled with tradition from Porto, a placed filled with tourists and locals. The food is amazing and if time is not a concern then it’s a must. It’s very crowded and the staff was not able to efficiently respond to all the demand, we waited a lot for our order to be taken and the waitress was not available in a reasonable time (5-10min) to be asked for refills. One of us had to get up and almost go into the kitchen so that they could grill a little bit more one of our steaks that was asked well done and came medium rare…

Good rissole and one of my favourite francesinha, a bit lighter than other versions around the city. The service is really nice and friendly here, and you can always expect a fresh beer coming quickly.

One of, if not the best francesinha I have ever had. The sauce is quality. The taste is superior and the overall experience was a delight. A definite must try if you're ever in the area!

Fantastic francesinha but horrible service. The guy didn't look at us, just threw the menu and later the receipt on our table when passing by. What a terrible service!!

A bit crowded, but a nice place to have dinner. The food is good, but the service seems to be very confused.

A highly recommended place by other travellers led us to this place and we were not disappointed. It is a huge and spacious place but was almost full with so many waiting outside , this is a great indicator of their popularity. Food was great. Our gang of nearly 12 ordered 12 different stuff from the menu without realising how huge the portions are. Food presentation was eye catching. Portion of food each plate was massive but delicious. Server could speak English and he was kind enough to describe the contents of most of the dishes. For a traveller who is willing to try out the local delicacies of Portugal this is one of the must visit places in Porto

Excellent food and service! I had the steak, medium, with an egg on top, french fries, white rice and a spinach, garlic puree. It was amazing!

Waiting time between starters and main was too long, then 1 dish came and then the 2nd but had to call waiter to ask for the redt of the food as they were serving other tables that came after to find out they gave ours to someone. No apologies were given. The food itself was medíocre, dont understand how they are so busy. Beer was nice and cold.

Francesinha. Capa Negra is another way to say Francesinha in Portuguese. That says it all.

  • 4/5 David Izquierdo A. 2 years ago on Google
If you come here it's because you're seeking the best "francesinha" in the city, a typical plate which consists in a mega sandwich stuffed with everything you can imagine and bathed with a yummy sauce, you better be hungry. I guess other dishes are good too, but this what most local people come for. Not giving a 5 stars because I think service can be improved, maybe our luck that day, but waiter wasn't really kind and a smile or a hello wouldn't harm either..

The place offers a variety of Portuguese and south European food. Everything is made to the highest standard and the service is professionally impressive. This was the first restaurant that we ate at since we came to Portugal and it definitely made a great impression about the people and their lovely country. Obrigado!

👍👍 We experienced a very pleasant greeter who helped us make reservations for later in the evening. When we arrived, we waited a few extra minutes for our table - there was a consistently long wait outside. João was our waiter and was beyond friendly and helpful. He really made the dinner fun.
