Very nice pub; looks great both on the inside and out. Beautifully done inside; the outside beer garden is good - I think a bit more more could be done to make it more ‘costy. Some great beers and friendly service. Will be back for a meal soon!

Beautiful location, inside and outside. Able to accommodate a large group on a Sunday at short notice for roasts without problems. Amazing food, both the roast was delicious and they serve the best Ale & Steak pie I’ve ever tasted! Lovely local pub cat as cherry on top

We held our wedding/committal service here on 22.02.2022. We had a sit down roast beef, chicken or nut roast dinner for 50 people. The food was perfect, lovely veg selection, crispy roast potatoes, massive yorky's, loads of gravy. Chocolate or carrot cake for dessert, very scrummy and children catered for too. No complaints! Staff friendly and helpful, great service. For us it was the perfect venue and all our guests said how great it was too. We had a wonderful day. Thank you Tom and your team xxx Recommended ⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐

We rented a space at Hangleton Manor for a celebration of life. The Manor provided the catering, which was high quality and reasonable. We stayed in the room for 8 hours and we were very, very loud. The staff not only tolerated this but were extremely helpful and pleasant throughout. We are very grateful for this and would highly recommend this venue for a private event. We would especially like to thank Donna and Michael who were incredibly helpful and patient with us.

Came for Sunday lunch. Been somewhere between five and ten times previously, this one a little disappointing. Two people had roasts, one the sharing platter of wings. Roast potatoes weren't boiled or roasted long enough, and the chicken roasts were a bit bland and pale looking for us, a bit of rosemary and garlic woud be nice and a bit more colour. The chicken wings were supposed to come with tempura (battered) onions, but it didn't have any. The younger waiting staff could see, and agreed to bring us some chips as a compensation and so there was at least some contrast in texture to the dish. But then a manager came out and said there were a chives added instead because they'd run out of onions. No apology. But then promised chips didn't arrive either. Left a bit of sour taste, to be honest. If you don't deliver as advertised, there should at least be an apology. You might want to avoid the roast potatoes!

This is a very atmospheric and historic pub, dating back around 500 years. Today, food is reasonable and prices are good. Safe to say this pub is unique in the city. More of a country pub than a city pub. Pay a visit

Discount Monday. Excellent coffee and very nice red velvet cake. Triple cooked chips were great. Lovely place to have on your doorstep.

Awesome place to hold a party! We celebrated our civil partnership in two rooms, with a live band in one and Karaoke in the other. Amazing service, great buffet, at a reasonable price. Thoroughly recommended.

A beautiful old building that provides excellent service and beautiful spacious beer garden. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff that work hard to please. Beer is perfect and staff happy to bring it out to the garden if you wish to spend time there. Only draw back is the recent modernisation of the bar area and the overpriced and superficial nouvelle cuisine style menu is not in keeping with the character of this listed building.

Went for roast dinner on father's day, lovely setting, character pub with pleasant garden. Yorkshire puddings and veg nice but the veggie roast looked unappetising - a slab of grey mush and tasted as expected - no texture, or flavour. Very disappointed. Planned to email HM for comments, rather than post public review but the only contact offered is to call, or use social media.

Really enjoyable pub when it comes to having a drink but the Sunday roast was a disappointment. The potatoes were old and certainly not freshly cooked. The vegetables arrived just about warm as well as under-seasoned at the table and the Yorkshire pudding tasted stale. The beef was ok but certainly not more. It felt as if we had a left over portion. On top we asked whether there was a chicken roast which the waitress confirmed to us has run out. But before we left the table next to us had a chicken roast. It is a shame because the pub is really lovely but the Sunday roast was a disaster.

Very disappointed with today at HM. To be fair the food at HM is very good, hence the reason we go. However, we have noticed on the last 3 occasions that service has got slower and slower. Today though was simply unacceptable. Firstly, our reservation was lost after booking on their website. Once that was squared away we ordered our drinks (5 people) and it took 30 mins for them to show up. Then we ordered our food and it all disappeared into a black hole. After repeated requests from the staff to update us on our order, we waited for another hour and thirty minutes - we were constantly told you are next in line and only 10 minutes. By this time we’d had enough and time to go. We cancelled the order and to be fair again we were not charged for our drinks. However, it is Sunday lunch and a special meal for the weekend and this is not acceptable for a pub/restaurant of this type to have such poor service. We went to another of our lunch favourites (The Regency) and got served in minutes of arrival. To note, The Regency has never in 15+ years of going put a foot wrong. HM, please take note and maybe ask them for tips on good service. I am not happy about leaving such a poor review, but I expected better of HM. I sincerely hope it improves as the food is very good.

Very nice, traditional pub/restaurant. We didn't eat there but plenty of others were. It was pretty busy mid-week, which is always a good sign. Beautiful location, lovely inside - all wood everywhere - and a lovely large garden.

Lovely pub, they were very accommodating when we had to change our booking slightly for our engagement drinks. Had a fantastic night and really pleased we chose here for our special occasion. The staff behind the bar were great, particularly the young man with the shoulder length blonde hair, he was fantastic! Thank you for helping us celebrate 🍾

This is one of those places that words and images do not do it justice, you must see it to really appreciate its magnificence. Regardless of where inside or outside you decide to dine your eyes have a feast all of their own from the incredible decor to the gardens. Every tiny detail has been well thought out. We were welcomed and served by Maizy who was extremely knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The service she provided was unbeatable. The food was excellent, have dined here before and gone away craving more. Whatever you order from the menu you will not be disappointed. Deserts are out of this world. The atmosphere was warm and friendly throughout. Highly recommend to everyone.

Meals for my family were very good apart from mine. Fish and chips. The batter was not good at all. I had to remove the fish. On its own it was delicious!. My peas were served when I was three quarter way with my meal. One of my family members had 2 pots of sauce delivered before her meal which was brought after all of us had finished ours!!!! How great was that?

Me and my husband recently had our wedding reception at the Manor. Highly recommend. Hired out both rooms, a bar was provided separately from the main bar. Staff were great! Lovely buffet food. The DJ kept that dance floor full. Donna was fantastic at helping plan up to the big day and made the day itself go smoothly. Thank you!

👍👍 What a nice pub! This is not your typical country pub, but it's still a great venue. Located right next to Portslade train station on a busy high street (often with railway crossing congestion) it is well located for a quick cheeky pint and a burger after work or a Sunday roast. There is an sizeable...

👍👍 Yummy Thai cuisine. I discovered this gem through a colleague and I was not disappointed. The service is quick and the drinks at the bar are reasonably priced. I had a chicken penang curry with rice for my main which was very tasty. There is live music on occasion which attracts a decent crowd. From...
