This is a cozy, hidden gem. We were there for hours enjoying story time with friends in front of the fire on a snowy day. When you step into this establishment you will feel like you've gone back in time....in a good way. Staff was attentive ...drinks and food were good.

Lunch here was great at this old school pub. Great food menu, great beer menu, and great spirit menu. Arched brick ceilings, brick walls. Warm and cozy by the fireplace. The staff are very friendly. I will definitely go back there.

Really fun and energetic staff. I particularly liked the lunch servers. I don't know how they kept up the energy and humor. I stopped by for lunch and had a beer and the crab cakes, which were really good. Then I realized they have hard liquor too, so I stopped back for a whiskey and a smoked meat sandwich- also a good choice. I actually wanted to order the French onion soup on my second visit because I had heard theirs was good, but they were sold out. And because I'm not a quitter, I tried once more to get the soup the next day, but they were out of the cheese. I ended up going elsewhere that 3rd time and my server was so apologetic, I wanted to give him a tip anyway. He seemed genuinely disappointed that he couldn't get me what I wanted even though I never even sat down at a table that last time. I sat outside both times since the weather was so perfect. Just as well, since the inside was overly hot. Probably really cozy in the cold months!

We couldn’t eat the food fast enough, it was so delicious. The two of us split the melted Brie as a perfect appetizer, and then finished off with French onion soup and a smoked meat sandwich. Le Trappeur coffee was delicious as well. Such a fun environment with great service. Would recommend it to anyone and definitely come here again.

Beautiful old pub that’s well worth a visit. However very limited food menu so just go for the drinks. NB Kids are not allowed in at all.

This place will be hard to top! I had looked it up ahead time and we were so excited to go. The atmosphere was unreal! The coolest historic building I've ever been to. Was so cool to be in a cellar from the 1600's! It's a small place, smaller than the photos make it look, but the bartenders were amazing, so friendly and welcoming! They loved feeding us the maple whisky shots with every beer that was ordered, for only $3, and the long island iced tea was delicious! We had the French onion soup and it was delicious! That's all we are there. I think if you're looking for food specifically, maybe this isn't the place as the menu is limited, but if you're looking for a fun atmosphere, cozy with a fire, friendly people, this is the place! We went back both nights we were there and the bartender remembered us. No bar topped this for the rest of the time we were there!

This restaurant gives you all the good vibes of sitting and boozing at a cave bar we see on movies or web series like Hobbit/Lord of the rings/GOT etc. We ordered Crab Cakes and Hot chocolates. Both had an amazing taste. More than the food, one should go there for experience.

The ambience here is wonderful, sitting in a cellar from the 1700's with friendly service and a good selection of drinks. Made for a great spot to stop for lunch with some beer before wandering some more ..

The Onion soup is excellent and that is saying something. Nice urban tavern with an old feel very intimate and cozy. The service is good and the pricing low-medium. The soup is definitely a must especially after a long walk through the snow.

Love this place. We have to stop in for a pint and some onion soup every time we're in Quebec. This time, I had a shot of some kind of maple liquor. It was great. Our awesome waiter recommended I just pop it in my beer. So I did and loved it.

We popped in for a drink and snack last night. I give 5 stars for atmosphere, as the pub was quite busy and lively. The pub was in some old cellars by the looks of it and had a wood fire roaring away, which was a blessing as it was so cold outside. I only give 3 stars for food and service because the service was very slow. We waited 1hr 15mins for soup and hotdog. One group left before food arrived as they were waiting longer than us. There were only 2 staff working though, so there's that. My wifes onion soup was very nice, my hotdog was ok. I'm not sure how hygienic the cooking area was though. Twice, I saw the guy behind the bar cough above the bowls as he was pouring soup into them. Occasionally, he rinsed his hands under the tap with plain water. Good for drinks, not for food (in my opinion).

Service was a bit slow, but the staff seemed overwhelmed/in a disagreement with other. My food was delicious and the atmosphere was very cool. Chatted with some other tourists and we all had a grand time.

We had an amazing meal here. Incredible atmosphere - could imagine the fur traders sitting around drinking in this place. Make sure you get the maple whiskey shot with your pint.

Close to the main attractions in old Quebec city but in a narrow street a few blocks away from the busy centre so a perfect compromise. Owner/ barman was extremely helpful and gave some good suggestions for the rest of our visit in quebec city. Would recommend, and I'll certainly go back there!

I mean what can I say about this place. It's just the coolest little gem I have stumbled across in my travels. So old and rustic. The staff probably the nicest people so outgoing, willing to converse with all patrons. The beer was fantastic, the drinks awesome. Love this place can't wait to bring more people.

No a/c inside, but still stylish and awesome. Waitress has her own charm. Also she was creative when I asked for the "weird shot"

Good place, outdoor patio in the historic part of Quebec City. The food is great, we actually went back there on the second day of our trip for a late, light supper after a day of exploring.

We had a bit of trouble finding the place but it was worth it. We were walking and Google maps made us zigzag on different streets it was confusing, also end of November so pretty cold for someone who lives in the South West. The drinks were good and the onion soup is delicious. When we left we followed the server's directions and voila they were easier and shorter, to the point we couldn't figure out why maps would make it so complicated.

The French onion soup was soooo good!! Wasn't a fan of the chicken wings though. Very nice hidden place Great atmosphere.

Tiny pub. Neat atmosphere. Beer a little expensive but seemed appropriate for location. Food looked and smelled amazing though pub fare. Bathroom confusing....I think I used the men's room. Appeared to be well loved by locals and close to capacity in the afternoon.

Right in the heart of the Quebec City touristy area. The three of us had 3 drinks and some olives to snack on. We were not offered water despite the sweltering temperatures inside the building where we were seating (the patio was full), which on this very hot day would have been a good attention (no AC in the building). Service was a bit slow. A bit pricey but the inside of the building architecture was quite impressive with vaulted ceiling and extra thick walls. A good venue still with a very limited kitchen though, only a few types of dishes are available (no actual kitchen, just a small oven), so they essentially have simple dishes.

Quiet and cozy. Had mulled wine and crab cakes. Both were delicious. Wanted French Onion soup, but it was not available. Wish I had more time in Quebec City; I would visit the pub again.

It's on ground floor, but looks more like a cave. Terraces outside but you have to go inside to get the real picture. Great beer selection.

The place has a super nice atmosphere. The walls are beautiful and nicely decorated. The food is good and the drinks are great. So many options for drinks, ranging from regular stuff to local gems and in-house mixed drinks. The mulled wine is excellent. The french onion soup is one of the best I've had.

Bartender was great! We didn't eat. Just enjoyed the experience...one of the coolest bars we've ever been in! Completely done in stone its as if you're in a cave! This bar had obviously been there a long time! A must visit in QC

Awesome hole in the wall in Old Quebec. Great smoked meat sandwich at a reasonable price. Staff was very welcoming and bilingual.

A very cool hole in the wall style pub. We went here for a few drinks, and they had some absolutely wicked specials. I’m talking four shots for $20 kind of thing. If you were in the area, or doing a bar crawl definitely add this place to your list. It’s worth it for the aesthetic alone. My fiancée and I had a blast at the staff, but didn’t stay too long as we had to head to dinner

This place is awesome it's open very late it's located in the best place you can be right next to the water in the old historic area of Quebec huge drink menu and very friendly service the main guy there is really funny and has a funny English accent his favorite line is quote quote I come back. He hustles like crazy we were there on a night where he was the only one serving and there was about four or five tables of people full we did not have to wait for anything it came on a flick of a finger he really deserves five stars and super thumbs up way to go check this place out you won't regret it

The pub is a nice and cozy place with a small selection of your typical foods. The onion soup and hotdog were very nice. The drink selection is as you would expect from a pub, but the prices were a bit higher than the norm. Overall the experience is nice, and it’s location is quite lovely to walk around.

Great place to warm up after some time exploring the city. The smoky fireplace, vaulted brick ceiling, board games and good food all contribute to the intimate atmosphere. Make sure to try the Maple Whisky.

Great little pub in lower Old Quebec. The french onion soup was the best we had during our trip, and they recommended a maple whisky shot which was fantastic. Atmosphere was excellent, staff were great.

Go back in time! After a long COLD walk through lower city. We entered the pub for some hot soup and a little pick-me-up. A blazing fire was burning in the hearth right as we entered, and the smell of burning wood and onion soup filled the air. The onion soup was amazing! The sign did say best in the city, and they were not lying. There is a maple whiskey that was recommended, best I've had. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it. Definitely a worthwhile stop to enjoy some old Quebec charm in a cozy atmosphere.

This is not a full extensive review, but this pub boasted the best french onion soup in Quebec City. I only had the one, but it is by far my favourite french onion soup I have had. I don't have this dish often, but in Toronto, they don't do this dish justice. The soup is hot, fresh from the pot, cheese is crispy and gooey, but the baguette or bread they use wasn't fully maintained. Maybe just me though. When you eat the soup, it is an actual onion like broth, there is a clean finish to every bite, and the cheese is tasty. I wish I spent more time eating this Canadian dish. The pub itself seems like a historic building, almost a dungeon, but not dingy. The seating in the side room looks a little cramped but we got to sit close to the bar. Staff were friendly, despite our lack of French. It seems like a solid spot for drinks, but maybe not for everyone. If you look dark historic building vibes, it should fit your fancy.

Great atmosphere even though it's a small place it was a fantastic find! You can find Sortilège here which is like some kind of maple whiskey. They offer it in shot form or as part of other drinks. They had a wide variety of drinks on their menu.

Cool little bar with a great staff. Didn’t try the food but the drinks were cold and the conversation was fun. Glad we checked it out while we were visiting Quebec City.

Limited menu but a good place for drinks and watching the world go by. Smoked meat sandwich is very good. Crab cakes are “OK”. Nice prompt staff, great ambiance.

Very cool pub just around the corner from a tourist square. Located in the basement of a 1700’s building, the dining room used to be a storage room for furs. The smoke meat sandwich looks small, but is filling! You can get soft or hard mustard. The hard mustard wasn’t too spicy/horseradishy.

This place is cool. The building is amazing. The staff were friendly. Couldn’t get any French onion soup, but the maple whisky is awesome. More like a smooth/sweet schnapps than a whisky. We t was very nice.

Absolutely amazing. Stopped here on our visit to Quebec City. Staff were professional and personable. Prices were very good. We had brie and a salad and smoked meat sandwich with a baguette. Wine to drink as well.
