A cozy bar with homestyle Quebecois comfort food. Feels like you're dining in a friend's kitchen with a 90s retro vibe. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious, especially given the price point Maybe not worth driving out of our way to find this place, but if you happen to be in the area, it's a very cozy experience!

Was looking for nearby restaurants to eat at in Quebec and chanced upon this on Google Maps. It had lots of good reviews so I gave it a chance. True enough, it did not disappoint! La Cuisine serves comfort food. Their servings are huge — I remember telling the server, “wow, this lasagna is huge” but I ended up finishing it. 😂 Literally the best meal I had in Canada. — Also loved the restaurant’s vibe. One of the reviews was right, good energy all around. :)

I went to the La Cusine for lunch and my family had a great experience. I loved the soul of the day. The food was delicious and the price super reasonable for what is offered. Comparing that with Toronto prices, it looks cheap. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu. The space has a cool atmosphere. If I go to in Quebec City again I’ll definitely return there.

Simple food done well at a fair price. The owner was very kind and explained the whole French menu in English which was very sweet. We ordered some soups and grilled cheese as quick bite to eat. The soup of the day was pea soup and we also got the French onion soup but I wish there was more cheese in the onion soup. We also got the bri, apple, and walnut sandwich which was really good with the soup. We would love to go back there because it was quite cheap with a funky vibe and decent food!

Really nice retro decor inside. The staff lady was really sweet and charming. The prices are affordable for the sizes. Their homemade hummus was very tasty! I had the meat lasagna which comes with a small salad. The lasagna was light on cheese and seasoning, but otherwise fresh. Finished the meal with a delicious poudding chomeur which was the highlight of the whole meal. Definitely recommend taking that sweet dessert.

What a great find!! My husband and I were visiting from Maryland and stumbled upon this place the night we arrived. It has a fun, eclectic vibe. Serendipitously, we sat at the table with the video game console. While we waited for our food, we played old school Mario. The food was delicious (didn’t even take the time to snap a photo) and the server was so friendly and accompanying to us native English speakers. Will definitely go back if we visit this area!!

Great food, great service. Highly recommended. Although they were super busy by the time we arrived there, they prepared our food very fast. I recommend both Lasagna and Cabbage rolls. Their price is also really reasonable compared to their quality. They had play station games for children and child-friendly environment.

Wow. What a spectacular restaurant. The decorations are perfect. The food was delicious and gentleman who served us was incredibly helpful. He spoke both English and French. I loved the old school video games available at the tables. If you’re in the area definitely check it out. This is a real taste of the Quebec flavor.

Very interesting restaurant. Feels like home cooking. Very retro feeling atmosphere, with a bar/kitchen open to the seating area. The food was great!. The beer was excellent. Seems like a local spot, so we enjoyed it even more, being away from the tourist area.

Came here by accident and fell in love with it! The food is reasonably priced, as are the drinks. For the midday crowd, this is a great place to do some work over a sandwich or a drink. The service is helpful, prompt, and bilingual. The decor is cute, and if you look at the photo the space behind the bar is made to look like a home kitchen! It was a little dirty on the bar (also pictured) but it was cleaned up within about an hour…I imagine they were doing cooking or prepping of some kind. I’ll definitely be coming back in the evening sometime to get a feel for the night at La Cuisine.

Cute vibe! There’s improve on Sunday nights from 8-10pm. It’s a nice place to chill with some friends in a cozy environment. The beer is normal, but the sangrias taste like pure juice. Also, the grilled cheese are tiny and the nachos are… special. So, love the vibe, but not a big fan of the food. I’d probably go back there for another beer and for the improv. The beer pitcher was served in a garden hose 😅

Great ambience. The place is small and quirky but cozy. There is an open kitchen with regular home appliances which is best. Service was prompt. Deducting 1 star just because they don't have much chicken options. Otherwise loved the place.

Probably one of my favorite culinary experiences in Quebec City, and we stumbled upon it by chance. We had the Pâte Chinois, Cipaille and Pudding Chômeur and would recommend again. Very eclectic and friendly vibe. Lots of games available to play. They all spoke English as well.

This place was heavenly. Like stepping into your friends home. Packed on a Thursday at noon. From the Lasagna to the French onion soup, everything was delicious. Very reasonably priced.

I liked the food that wasn't stimulating. The staff explained the menu very kindly for us who can't speak French. However, the seats were very small.

Been at La Cuisine while travelling Canada with my boyfriend last autumn. I’m dying to have their recipe for the Cigare au chou cause was one of the best things I have ever had!! Please, let me know. I’d love to be able to do it against back home in Italy!

We visited this place TWICE in our 5 day stay in Quebec City. The plates are delicious, the prices are really good. Portions are filling. The onion soup was AMAZING! They have a good selection of beers and wine. The atmosphere is cool with video game consoles all around as well as board games that you're welcome to use if you'd like! The service was awesome, very friendly and professional staff. We're definitely coming back next time we're in town.

It’s a must visit hidden gem of a restaurant. We reached the city a bit late at night and wanted to have a nice dinner. After trying our luck at the touristy side of city and having unable to find a restaurant open at that time, we stumbled upon La Cuisine which is surprisingly open until 1 am. We were greeted warmly by Eduard when we reached the restaurant. There’s a really nice retro feel to the restaurant with the cartoon show Popeye running in the background and retro gaming consoles set up across. We instantly fell in love with it! We tried their white beer and cider on tap along with onion soup, bean chilli and meat lasagne. The drinks were refreshing and food was absolutely lip smacking. We are definitely returning here whenever we can. Would give a solid 5 star to this place and highly recommend it!!!

Pros: Awesome decor. Good music. Good food presentation. Waiter was great. Glad he was bilingual. Decent prices. Can eat inside or outside. Cons: Food is bland. Menu only in French, recommend having screens installed to avoid having flies around, indoors. Overall no regrets choosing this as our first resto upon arriving for our vacation. Good experience.

Away from the touristy crowd, this hole in the wall restaurant is a gem for simple yet delicious food. If you visit do try their cabbage roll...It's a must try delicacy.Perfect blend of flavours. And we loved the Shepard pie as well... The place has amazing staffs who took time to help us understand in English their menu which was written in French. They helped us with choosing our order. In the current summer months, relaxing on their patio and having there delicacies out here was very relaxing and memorable experience. Will visit again when in Quebec city.

we got the lasagna, shepard's pie, tomato soup, and nachos. everything was average: lasagna was mostly tomato sauce and not enough of the other things, nachos lacked sufficient cheese, shepherds pie was steaming hot geriatric slop (we still ate it all). tomato soup was FIRE though. relative to the other restaurants in the tourist part quebec city, i guess it was pretty okay for the price ($20 after tax and tip per person). the environment is much more memorable though. waiter was very nice, decor was so fun and warm and inviting. why aren't all restaurants decorated like this

Excellent restaurant! The place is cool and the food is simply delicious. Do not miss the "Croque Monsieur de pommes et brie". You will find some board games and videogames. The service is fabulous. Thank you!

The energy here is superb. Come here if you want to experience local cuisine and vibe. They prepare the food in front of you (open kitchen). In awe with their speed and passion for what they do. Price is affordable for what you get. I liked the onion soup a lot. Simple and hearty. will come back!

This restaurant was so adorable. The decor and atmosphere was so welcoming and warm. It felt like I went to visit friends for dinner. I got the lasagna and hummus and my boyfriend got the grilled cheese and French onion soup. Everything tasted amazing and the portions were incredible. The staff was lovely and took the time to explain the menu in English and give us recommendations for what not to miss out on while we are visiting Quebec City. Highly recommend.

We brought our toddler and had a lovely quiet dinner at La Cuisine. Friendly staff. The food was excellent. We ate the warm spinach salad, lasagna, and shepherds pie. Beautiful side salads. All delicious. Merci!

The service was honest and helpful when looking for something to eat and drink. Their French onion soup left a sour taste, but their lasagna turned it all around. That lasagna took me back to when I cooked with my dad. When we ate dinner together. I have never had such a food to bring back memories like that. Thus why I am still giving La Cusine a 5 star rating. Would eat here again.

For starters, I came here based on a few recommendations I saw online and also from the reviews on google. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating despite the fact I only speak English and no French. From a taste perspective, the food and drinks taste good although the flavouring isn’t overpowering and perhaps a little bit bland, feel free to add salt as needed; you can think of the meals presented with a touch of home cooking style. Pictured is the soup of the day, the lasagna, the cabbage rolls, and the cider. The prices are quite fair as well given the portion sizes, although do note that due to the limited amount of staff, you may have to wait a little bit of time although that’s reasonable given the number of tables compared to the number of staff. The only complaint I have is the fact that when I brought my takeout back to eat, I found a piece of pink/purple plastic when I scooped a spoonful out of my cabbage rolls and bit into them; the texture of the plastic was very hard and I’m not sure how it got into the cabbage rolls. Unfortunately due to this, I wouldn’t be able to give a high review considering the piece of plastic was quite large and could be a safety concern for somebody who could potentially be intoxicated on a night out with drinks while eating at the same time. Otherwise, I would say it’s worth it to come by to try it once if you’re in the area as long as you’re cautious when eating here.

Great experience at this restaurant! Took a chance based on the reviews and we are glad we did! We don't speak much French, but the woman was very kind and made sure we were good to order. We ordered the grilled cheese, lasagna and the pizza. All was very good! We were very happy with the service and definitely going to remeber this as a part of our trip to Quebec!

The food was satisfactory, but the service was truly exceptional. I must say, I was taken aback with the use of canned tuna on the nicoise salad. Additionally, I would suggest considering the combination of pear and brie as a substitute for apple in the sandwich as it adds a delightful twist to the flavor.
