Absolutely delicious food here! We had a beautiful window-side seat and ate the fresh vegetables, hummus and the gazpacho! The meal was light but also very filling and the service was amazing. Thank you to all of the restaurant employees for being so kind and explaining all the dishes to us!

We ordered the Blini, Duck and Waffle, and the Escargot. All were great! The duck was melt in the mouth soft. Loved it

Amazing service and fantastic food. This was a really delightful restaurant to eat at to round out a day of exploring the city. It’s tucked away and has a really laid back atmosphere. The food was delectable from the first bite to the last with flavor combinations that will knock your socks off. If you’re a fan of (alcoholic) Ciders, make sure to order one for your table as you take your time with your meal. You won’t regret it. The menu changes regularly, but you will not be disappointed in the food no matter what’s being served—a lot of care clearly goes into the menu here.

Tldr: meh Well... Hate to give it two star but I have to. Dish was really mediocre, especially after waiting for 40 minutes plus the waiter messed up our order several times and we didn't get the half-chicken that we ordered. Beef was really overcooked, not tender at all. Octupos was alright. Considered the price I really don't think it was worth it any how. Probably not a fair review since the place is really under-staffed and I understand that covid made everything harder. Probably will try it next time.

Fresh, delicious food. Simple, rustic ingredients but so yummy. You can tell the chefs put in effort and love into the preparation. The dishes were beautifully presented too. Service was excellent. Will be back!

Great place for a nonpretentious yet elevated meal. Our experience was great, with really friendly staff and quality food. We first came here for lunch then decided to come back again for dinner. Would definitely come back and recommend this place. Good mix of both locals and tourists.

My favourite place to eat in Quebec. I stayed at Auberge de la Paix next door, and the new owner operates both. I ate here so much over three days. Very friendly, relaxed staff, incredible food for a great price compared to everything else around Old Quebec. Truly a hidden gem!

What a delightful find and our top choice for dining during our weekend in Old Quebec! We had the pleasure of visiting twice, once for dinner and once for brunch, and sampled a total of 9 different items, all of which were delicious. Our favorites included the onion soup, squash soup, Caesar salad, and the remarkable key lime pie. Speaking of the key lime pie, it’s a hidden gem not featured on the menu and not available every day, but it’s a real treat, resembling crème brûlée with the perfect balance of sweetness. Adding to the charm, the restaurant is nestled in an antique setting that provides a peaceful escape from the bustling main streets, avoiding the noise and crowds. The staff, while friendly, appeared to be a bit short-handed at times, resulting in occasional delays in service. Nevertheless, it was a great dining experience that we would highly recommend.

I loved everything about this place – from the great onion soup and snails to the delightful potato/salmon entree. The cozy ambiance makes it a perfect spot for lunch.

The food was ok, but very few options available on the menu, and even some of them weren't available on that day. The service was just fair, 6 people behind the bar but only 2 really working so the order was delayed and mistaken. They speak French and English so language wasn't an issue. The onion soup was tasty but a bit expensive for the size ($14/each). The risotto was overcooked, more like a rice pudding texture. Not the worst, but neither the best restaurant in old quebec.

A truly remarkable experience in Quebec city. We ordered the octopus and the gnocchi and both dishes were incredible. Great textures and flavours! The space is very cozy and the staff is very nice! Can’t wait to visit Quebec again to eat here!

Went here for brunch and dinner. Ordered the Continental for brunch, which had a butter crossaint, a boiled egg, a small portion of fruit, and candied citrus. For the $14 it cost, this was a good meal to start the day. Came back for dinner and ordered the Terrine, which was a chicken liver pate-mousse, with crusty bread, and candied citrus peel. Although I wouldn't say this is my palette, it was still very good and tasty. I could have probably got a bit more bread, as I was smearing big portions of the mousse on it. My entree was a mushroom risotto, which I added duck to. The duck was very tender and moist. The risotto was cooked almost al-dante as it has some bits of crunchiness to it. It was very creamy, and had some good pieces of mushroom. A very good meal. The staff were very friendly and answered questions, and the atmosphere of the place is nice and off the beaten path. Definitely will return to this establishment if I come back to the city.

Loved their escargots. There was a tiny wait to get a table. I got the venison with mashed potatoes and that was yummy. I usually don’t like french onion soup but i really liked theirs. They have a limited menu that changes to the season. Our waitress was very kind.

A gem! Authentic food, far from a tourist trap. Everything paired well together, dishes are researched and well executed. One of the best culinary experience I had in Quebec. The restaurant itself is charming, it feels like the owner invited you at his home. Chefs, cooks, servers every staff member was welcoming.

Our Friday night family dinner was perfect at Chez Temporel. This cozy bistro is tucked away from the busy main streets and had a warm, welcoming and rustic vibe. We started with french onion soup and the escargot, which was buttery rich and set our expectations high for the mains. The beef burgundy was hearty and the meat was tender. The duck confit on mushroom risotto was savoury and perfectly done. The octopus dish was so tender and tasty. All our dishes were lovely and filling! The service here was five-star perfection as well. We would love to return next time we're in town and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Very friendly service, home style cooking, overall very good experience. The steak entree is a bit on the chewy side. Enjoyed the charcuterie board.

Loved this gem off the beaten path. Don’t bother with the pubs and eats on the main roads in the city, this spot had better food, reasonable prices and wasn’t over run with rowdy patrons. We’re vegetarian and the options available were fantastic. We had the vegetable plate, the gazpacho and the hummus. All were very rich and flavourful. Loved each dish.

Genuinely some of the best French food I’ve ever had & I’ve been all over France. Superb. Beautiful restaurant, good prices, and very kind staff as well. So good we came back twice. My highest recommendations

We had a delicious dinner with friendly service. The duck confit Caesar salad was superb and the scallops were also delicious. The setting is super simple andcasual, but the food was outstanding

How do they create so many flies in a restaurant like this! We never felt comfortable while seated. Personally, the dish with the soggy octopus and the escargot resembling risotto didn’t bring me any joy either. In any case, there were far too many flies!

Avoid the tourist trap and stumble into this gem instead! Known for their outstanding duck, we ordered the snails on pastry and duck risotto which where equally sensational. The snails balanced a subtle profile of lightness and creaminess whilst the duck risotto was bold with crispy duck and earthy mushrooms. This bristo is all quality!

A cosy little restaurant with an interesting menu. The seared foi gras was outstanding and so well presented that I had to take a photo. For our main meals, my husband had the beef cheek and I had the octopus. Both had amazing flavours, and the crème brûlée rounded off a perfect dinner. For 3 courses plus a bottle of red wine cost around $350, including the tip, but it was worth it. Friendly service too.

Soooo tasty. I think the escargot is the best dish I’ve eaten in one week in Quebec. Highly recommend! 🐌 Also good were the duck confit and venison. French onion soup was just ok.

Wonderful dinner experience in Quebec City! Every dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Fresh ingredients. Server was attentive to our family of four, checked on us often, and very patient with our questions. Definitely recommend RSVP because the place gets filled even on a week night.

Great cuisine and very hospitable staff. I ordered the Cod with a glass of white wine and finished with a slice of the maple pie. The meal was fantastic start to finish and could not of asked for a better experience.

What a treasure! Just a few steps from Rue Saint-Jean, this Bistro is hidden on a side street, just off main touristy area. It is so worth a short detour. This place is priced right and most importantly the food is great. Locals come here. We were trying to experiment with various restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner and in hindsight, we should have come here instead a few time as we had bad luck with all other restaurants. This bistro serve staples of French cuisine, all prepared fresh in a nice bistro setting. The food delicious, even for the most pickiest of eaters. Avoid tourist traps - go where locals eat!

We had a lovely evening- a truly wonderful dinner at this charming restaurant in Vieux Quebec. We had the soup de jour (tomato cream) and the onion soup - both were so tasty and full of flavors. The scallops, octopus and risotto entrees were each fabulous! The chocolate and pistachio mousse was a great way to end our meal. The waitress was wonderful - very helpful in navigating the menu and listening to us attempt to order in French. I would highly recommend this when you visit!

My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch when we were visiting Quebec City for one night. The restaurant was not even officially opened yet (they opened at 11 and we arrived at 10:20) and they still welcomed us with open arms and smiles. The service was impeccable even though we probably interrupted their preparation routine in the morning, and the food was the best brunch we have ever had. Everything from ambience, to music, to kind service, to a great brunch and amazing espresso made our visit here exquisite. Thank you to the staff and kind chef - you made our short trip to QC very memorable!

Such an amazing delicious romantic meal for my husband and I on our honeymoon! Great service from start to finish. Got a deal cocktails and the charcuterie and cheese board to start, I got the hangar steak and my husband the mushroom risotto with duck confit. Finished with some of the BEST café au lait I’ve ever had! Perfect spot in Old Quebec, but make sure you make a reservation!

A nice meal in the Quebec City Although the risotto looks a bit watery, it tasted really nice and creamy. Loved the fried squash with the risotto. The onion is a bit bland though. Also ordered the soup of the day (Tomato soup) and a latte. Both are decent but nothing surprising. The server was nice but I would recommend dining on the ground floor than going upstairs if you can choose. It just looks a bit messy up there with weird big mirrors. Kinda creepy to be honest.

The octopus was the best I've had. So soft and grilled to perfection. The vegetables went nicely with the octopus. The duck breast and the foie gras sauce was so creamy and umami. The owner was very helpful in choosing our meal.

The best hidden gem of Quebec City. Right off a main touristy street full of restaurants and chains is Chez Temporel. We were only in QC city for two nights and managed to make it back twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the aesthetic was always cool and calm. The menu is short and sweet. We ordered brunch plates and duck confit salads and breakfast croissants. The coffees as well as the cocktails were terrific. I would go back again and again. Highly recommend.

We stopped for an overnight in Quebec and dined at Chez Temporel. We had the best diner of our trip here!. The Flank steak diner was simply amazing and the staff were wonderful. I would recommend this gem to anyone visiting in Quebec City. Food was 5 Star and service was above a 10! Sunset while dining was a bonus!

Came here on a Monday evening and had a cappuccino with dessert. The cappuccino was a lot stronger than anticipated, it was more like espresso but the mousse dessert was absolutely delicious. It’s been my favourite dessert so far during my trip in Quebec City. The server was also very kind.

Look, I gave it 5 stars because it's simply excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and if it's busy, it feels like you're at a big dinner party. The service is really good, both servers had warm personalities and took great care of us. The cocktails were well made and tasty. The FOOD! I cannot stress this enough, if you want perfectly executed dishes made with care and have flavours that wow and make you want more, this is the place. I had to order as much as I could off the small menu, French onion soup, tuna crudo and foie gras to start, escargot, Caesar salad and scallops for main, sugar pie to finish with espresso. All but the sugar pie were one offs with amazing faclvors. The French onion soup had a rich broth and they use the 1608 cheese! The foie gras was cooked perfectly and served on toast with jam and peanut butter. Never had anything like it, it was a game changer. I can go on about all the dishes but I won't, just go and give it a shot. The wine list is short but very good and there are a few by the glass in all categories!
