👍 Nice place for a quick snack or coffee. My review is strictly on their Croissant which was pretty good and I’m sure would’ve even been better if it was fresh out the oven. Service was quick and friendly as well and I’d definitely return to try some other things 👌🏼 People often mention coffee, good, great, Quebec, delicious, staff, Great, quick, chocolate, cafe,

Nestled in the heart of Quebec City lies a quaint and charming cafe and bakery that exudes a warm and inviting ambiance. Despite its petite size, this cozy spot is sure to win you over with its delightful offerings. While the date pastry was alright, the Blueberry Macaroon was an absolute delight that had our taste buds dancing with joy. The coffee was also top-notch, with a rich and delicious flavor that left us wanting more. Although our coffee lacked the promised artwork, the taste more than made up for it. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making our visit all the more pleasant. With a self-serve setup, everything is easily accessible, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the charming atmosphere of this lovely cafe and bakery.

You can’t go wrong with La Maison Smith. They have 3 excellent locations in old town… great coffee, great variety, lovely staff.

We, the party of 4, all liked the croissants, and coffee here. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. No wonder it gets very busy in the morning!

Great place for a quick breakfast. Opens at 7 am. Had 7 types of milk for lattes. Amazing pastries. Welcoming service.

Sub-par chocolate croissant that tasted like it was from a hotel continental breakfast. Apple turnover had a good amount of apples inside but neither crust was very flaky. Watch out for seeds! The "tropical" smoothie with mango and pineapple tasted more like a slushi. Way too much ice.

Excellent coffee (flat white) and pastries (brioches à la cannelle). Very welcoming staff. Also, they have delicious sandwiches and salad options - if you want to eat healthier. There’s a space in the back that I use for reading or social media scrolling. And it’s air-conditioned, essential during the humid summers! I will be back daily. Love it!

Starbucks. But it's french so they're justified in charging 1.5x. Also large drinks come in bowls. No latte art for $6.

The cold smoothie we received was not up to the mark for what we paid. It tasted like orange Tropicana with a lot of ice in it. Macarons flavors were good.

Great service. Very quick despite crowds. Had the quiche Lorraine which was excellent. Went with several friends and they had from vegetable quiche to different types of croissants and pastry. They all loved it. Also coffee was excellent. Wish the place was a bit bigger as we were pretty packed in there

The croissant was likely buttery, flaky, and had a satisfying crunch on the outside, complemented by a soft, airy interior. Paired with a creamy, rich hot chocolate, it was a delightful combination of flavors and textures

The coffee is delicious! I saw they had maple syrup infused with coffee beans so I had to pick some up. It sounds amazing so I hope it also tastes good.

Nice ambiance and polite staff. Good selection of sandwiches, quiches, cold pastas, tarts, bread pudding, macarons, coffees, teas & smoothies

Everything about this cafe was amazing. The coffee was beyond delicious, pastries were huge and out of this world. Service was sweet and they speak English. The cafe is super cute and cozy! It was one of the few places we felt comfortable, where as other restaurants were rude when needing to speak to us in English.

Wonderful aroma of coffee invites you in from the street. Croissants as big as your head (not quite but a good size). Great relaxing vibe inside. Only downside was a lack of a washroom facility as it was 'Out of order'

This cafe is a local chain and became our go to for breakfast and caffeine needs. Try the maple macaron. You will thank me!

It's cute but nothing to write home about. As was requested by the owner, I am expanding on my review. As stated above, the facility is cute and well maintained (clean). The issues I had were staff members who seemed uninterested in providing any type of assistance. My thirteen year old daughter had a few questions on the macaroons (she has visited and consumed these from around the globe), and the counter person refused to answer her. I had to finally ask myself with a slightly elevated voice. The presentation was terrible. They were tossed in a box with no care at all. Half were ruined. While paying, I had to grab my wallet from my wife, and they were grumbling even though I was the only person in line. Overall, it is not worth the time to stop in as Quebec City has many more family-friendly shops to pop in for to grab snacks. Though if you're in Quebec seeking that Parisian rudeness Paris is famous for - this is your place.

Such a great place to have breakfast! The chocolate almond crossiant and the cafe latte is highly recommended. Service is excellent too and price is reasonable.

The best hot chocolate (seriously authentic dark cocoa chocolate) we EVER had. The cookie was SO yummy and rich. The place was busy but understandably so!!! The must visit in old quebec.

We go to this café often. The quality of the drinks and desserts is good. The staff is friendly.

A beautiful café! You will find many in Quebec City. This location made us feel we were right back in a European or Parisien café, watching passerby’s as we enjoyed some superb coffee and yummy treats!

The latte was well made and the croque monsieur was delicious! The café itself was quite nice to spend some time in. Spacey enough and had several tables.

Best coffee I've had in Quebec. Tried about 6 different places over the course of my trip and Cafe Smith had the best coffee by far. Breakfast bagel was decent, 4/5 for that.

Thank you Alex! I am pleased to get your advice to get light roast, I loved it! The only con is the coffee could be warmer, I dont know maybe it iis just because outside was -20 degree :)

I took a chocolate croissant and it was not bad but it's not worth the price (it was barely with chocolate inside).

Decent pistachio latte. The croissants looked great but didn’t taste fresh.

Great find on a quick trip to Quebec. Pleasantly tart but smooth roasty espresso and excellent strong cold brew. The date square with strudel topping didn’t travel well, but was delicious in whole and smashed form. A surprisingly wide selection of in-house roasted coffees for purchase as well.

Took a quick break from our afternoon walk to get out of the rain. The place is nice and homey. The staff were nice and polite. We had mokaccinos and a cinammon bun. The coffee was good -- could definitely taste the cocoa and was not too sweet. The bun was OK in flavour, but a little dry.

Second Smith's café I tried at Quebec, their coffee's very good, affordable viennoiseries, I wished I had my croissant heated but I think I should've asked it myself! There's something about Smith's cafés' rustic interior design that just makes you want to go back, not like a Starbuck...

During our stay in Quebec, we were recommended to have our coffee at Cafe La Maison Smith St- Jean. Our party of six ordered different type of coffees - all were enjoyed. The pastries, salad, and sandwich was good too.

My experience here was absolutely horrible. I won’t speak about less that mediocre coffee and an un tasty sandwich (well, I personally don’t like cooked veggies and pickles hidden in chicken sandwiches, but that’s my personal taste). But the almond croissant! OH MY GOD! It was soft and wet. Have you ever seen a damp croissant? I took a bite and threw the rest away. Such a waste of money and such a waste of products!
