Climbing with Hot Rock during our time in Krabi, Thailand over New Years 2023, was unforgettable. With little warning (I reached out on our plane ride into Krabi from Koi Sumoi) Hot Rock was flexible to string together 3 solid days of guided learning and adventure on Railay’s famous limestone. Our guide, Rat, quickly sized up our abilities on day one and exposed us to new and challenging terrain, while teaching technique and fundamentals particularly suited to Railay’s rock and unique titanium anchoring system. Rat was kind, adventurous, beyond competent, and respected by all the locals. Anyone who has the chance to climb with Rat, and Hot Rock is in for challenge and fun of the best kind imaginable. We are scheming to go back even though the jet lag of travel back to Vancouver, Canada is still in full swing!

Hired Hot Rock for a full day of private rock climbing guiding for me and my wife. I am a guide myself but wanted to enjoy some climbing without the burden of having to be "working" - or bring all my kit! We got paired up with Lek for the day. He took us out for some warm-up easy pitches to start the day, building up from there. Everything was on our timetable and what we wanted to do, which was perfect for us. He did a great job managing the sun exposure, moving our climbing locations throughout the day to keep us out of direct sun. Even operating in a crowded environment, we had very little downtime as he moved around and got positioned on routes for us. We ended up that afternoon trekking through an amazing limestone cave before rapelling down the other side to find some more climbing with STUNNING views. When I hired Hot Rock I emphasized that I wanted quality climbs and experiences over volume or difficulty, and Lek absolutely delivered on that mark. Lek managed safety throughout the day very well, in my professional opinion, and provided just the right amount of encouragement and advice as needed. I enjoyed chatting with him about the area and he was very knowledgeable about Railay and Tonsai. If I come back to Railay and need a guide, I will 100% be contacting Hot Rock again. This was an experience of a lifetime. Rat was our guide and he was just so amazing and supportive. I climb regularly in a gym but this was my first time climbing outdoors and i have a fear of heights. He supported both myself and my husband with lots of technique tips and reminded us to breath and focus. He always said that i was safe and that he had me. It was like i could feel his safety through the rope even though i was so high up on the rock. I would never have finished those climbs without him, he pushed me because he knew i could do it and this will definitely be something i never forget. All the equipment was very well kept, they provide as much water as you like. We did half a day and were knackered afterwards, but you get plenty of time for breaks. It was worth every penny. Highly recommended!!

This was a great option for a solo traveller. The group I joined was slightly bigger so we had 2 guides. They made sure to do all the necessary safety checks for each climb, for both experienced and inexperienced climbers. I did not use any of their gear but I noticed that they were in good condition. The guides knew the routes very well and were able to point out the holds when needed, which was extremely helpful! Belay was tight when necessary. Will definitely climb with them again. Prior to booking this session, I communicated via email and WhatsApp and replies were timely and detailed ☺️

My partner and I recently took a 2-day lead climbing course with Yup at Hot Rock Climbing School in Railay Beach, Thailand. We had been climbing indoors for about 4 months and were eager to learn how to lead climb and to climb outdoors. While booking Sara was very responsive and informative about what to expect from the course and they hire out Black Diamond climbing shoes and Petzl harnesses, great if you have no gear and you are shopping around for what brands to get. Yup was an excellent instructor. He was patient, knowledgeable, and reassuring. He took the time to explain all of the necessary skills and safety procedures in a calm and a learn by watching and doing. He also made sure to tailor the instruction to our individual skill levels and needs. On the first day, we climbed some easy top rope routes to get used to the rock and the outdoor environment then slowly introduced the fundamentals of lead climbing while practising on some easy routes we climbed in the morning. On the second day, we climbed more challenging routes, and Yup helped us to push our limits safely. He was always there to give us advice and support, and he never made us feel rushed. We had a great time learning from Yup, and we highly recommend the Hot Rock Climbing School course to anyone interested in learning to lead climb outdoors.

We had an incredible day with our guide Lek, this was definitely a stand out highlight of our trip and I'd highly recommend it! Hot rock were very accommodating when we were struggling to reach Railay in the morning and still managed to arrange for a packed day of activities. It was just the two of us with one guide so we had lots of climbing time. Lek picked out some climbs that were perfect for our ability and had some really interesting features. We also hiked through a cave and abseiled out the top with excellent views across the bay. An all round excellent experience 😊

I highly recommend Hot Rock climbing! I was staying in Ao Nang, and had to commute to the morning class, and Saralis gave detailed instructions on how to do so. I ended up being late because there weren’t enough people to fill the boats, but they had someone wait at the shop to take me to the site. They were very organized and professional. It was my first time climbing outside, but my guide, Pac, ensured that I was safe and pushed me to become better. He gave detailed instructions when needed, but allowed me to learn on my own. He is the reason I am no longer afraid of heights!

I spent half a day climbing with Luang, he is a five stars instructor in Railay. I am a beginner, he gave me useful and simple advices. We climbed, then went to caves with beautiful view, and finished with an exciting rappelling episode Thank you for your kindness and for encouraging me to push my limits

Had a great experience with hot rock climbing school! I climb a lot in bouldering gyms and took the 3-days course to learn the techniques to become an independant outdoor climber. The teachers are very friendly and will adapt the course to your level or depending on what you want to learn. Beginners to expert, everyone can enjoy the experience. This was definitely the best part of my 2-weeks trip, highly recommend!

Had a great time climbing! Our instructor was very good and made us all feel comfortable throughout our climbing. We had a mix of abilities between the three of us which was catered to very well. Worked out 1500 baht per person, which I think was definitely worth the experience.

What a great time we had! My 13 year old daughter was so looking forward to climbing in Krabi, but we had our planned session with a different company cancelled on us at the last minute. Hot rock got us going again on last minutes notice. So accommodating, helpful, and nice. My daughter had a wonderful time with our guide, climbed until she could barely move her arms that day! Would highly recommend them!

Wonderful experience with Hot Rocks! We hired a private guide for a half day and he was top notch, very professional. Took some time to evaluate our skill levels and found the best routes for us and taught us about the different climbing areas in Railay. We went back a second day and rented equipment and felt comfortable to go climbing on our own. Great company, very friendly owner and staff.

recently visited Railay Beach for a rock climbing adventure, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the quality of service and experiences provided by the climbing guides at this company. The limestone cliffs were absolutely stunning, and the overhangs and steep faces provided a thrilling challenge for climbers of all levels. One of the things I appreciated most was the availability of varied grades suitable for everyone, from beginner to advanced climbers. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and patient, and their attention to safety precautions and procedures put me at ease throughout the entire climb. As an added bonus, the views of the Andaman Sea were simply breathtaking, and the fact that Railay Beach is only accessible by boat made the experience even more unique and memorable. The rental equipment was top-notch, and I felt completely comfortable and secure throughout my climb. Overall, I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an adventure-packed, socially and community-driven rock climbing experience at Railay Beach. Wanted to get out for a climb one afternoon in Railay Beach. I'm really happy with my experience. Half day tour leaving at 2pm. Climbed until my arms couldn't take any more. Pak was an awesome guide and catered to the style of climbing I wanted to do. Went to two different climbing spots, awesome views at both. Overall great time. Definitely recommend

We had a lovely climbing day with our guide called New! Definitely recommend going here (routes for both beginners and advanced climbers). Even though we didn’t book in advance, we were able to immediately do the half day climb (we did come in low season, so it wasn’t very busy).

This is the best rock climbing school in Railay, Krabi. I would 100% recommend this school to anyone who wants to have an adventure experience of sport climbing or hiking with the safety equipments and skillful lead. I have a wonderful time there and couldn't make it to the view point or lagoon without my lead, Luang! He is the best I could ever ask for. Highly recommend Hot Rock Climbing School if you’re keen to experience outdoor climbing in Krabi! Our group of 4 were relatively inexperienced outdoors but we felt safe and had so much fun! Our instructors- Yup and New, were super assuring and detailed in their explanation. They ran through the steps multiple times on the ground and had eyes on us all the way throughout the climb, suggesting betas and making sure we are okay. It’s with no doubt that they know the area so well, suggesting different walls through high tides and drizzle. The school also has all the equipment you need, and they also brought along mats for us to put our bags on. The last we need to feel is to be pressured and rushed while climbing in a foreign space, and we definitely felt nothing close to that. Once again, a huge shoutout to our instructors for taking us through the experience!
