Just wow! Be aware of restrictions to enter this place. They close the route by 6PM in the evening and open again at 6AM. The coast guard patrol takes over the evenings. Best time is the morning and you can catch the sunrise and it's a surreal feeling. The ride on the road is just amazing. Straight roads with beaches on both sides and you can stop anywhere and get to the water and continue again. Once you reach the tip, there are no restrictions on where you can venture. So, take the step on the rocks and sit close to the waters and observe the sunrise. There can be a bit of crowd, but there is plenty of place for everyone! At around 8AM or so, it slowly starts getting hot, so plan accordingly.

2 day planner for Bengaluru to Rameshwaram via Madurai. We started from Bengaluru at night 10pm, so that we can reach madurai by 5am. Lodges are available for getting refreshed at madurai before darshana from Rs.500. We were able to finish darshana along with breakfast before 10am as the crowd was less. We left for Rameshwaram which is around 170km, can have good south Indian lunch on the way. Should be there in Rameshwarm by 4pm, book a hotel after refreshing leave for dhanuskodi by 5pm which nearby. We had booked Hotel Sentur Raja which costs around ₹1200 for a treble bed room. Which is clean and recommended. On the way you can have amazing view of Rameswaram bridge along with few beaches. Dhanuskodi is one of the abandoned town in tamilnadu, the town of Dhanushkodi is believed to be the place where Lord Rama had ordered Lord Hanumana to build a bridge which could carry his army across to Sri Lanka, where Demon King Ravana had kept Sita captive. As ordered, Lord Hanuman had obliged and it was here that the Ram Setu was built by the Vanara Sena. Can have variety of fresh sea food nearby, must visit for seafood lovers. Entry closes after evening 5.30pm and there are no lighting available during night, overnight stay not allowed. Comeback to hotel have dinner and morning go to darshana of lord Ramanatha swamy by 7am, After finishing breakfast after darshana start to Bengaluru and can reach Bengaluru before 10pm.

We reached there around 6:15 am for the sunrise, there are restrictions by the police and traffic is allowed only after 6 am. Pls carry water and some light snacks like biscuits , in case you feel hungry. However there were several roadside vendors who had started setting shops at 7 pm. Since it was early morning there was no traffic and we could park the car at the turnabout and the sea's were slightly rough to play. While driving back one can see the ruined Dhanushkodi on the left side of the road, there are couple of shops selling sea shells etc here

If you're at Rameswaram, visit this place. Look for local town bus ply to Dhanushkodi every hour which will cost you Rs. 30/- instead of spending hundreds by local tour operators. Best time to visit is.in Morning or Evening and it's HOT during Midday though there is cool breeze from ocean. Take water & food if possible as there is no such options. Regarding the location, simply beautiful. Enjoy the confluence of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean with contrasting characters.

One of the Best place to visit nearby Rameswaram. Absolutely stunning Scenery with great views in surrounding. There are only a few historical structures across the globe that link mythological and historical theories together. One such construction is Adam’s Bridge, also known as Ram Setu. Recently, the central government approved an underwater exploration, to study the structure and determine the age of the Ram Setu and its formation. This study will also help in understanding if the structure is as old as the Ramayana period. Also, there is a demand to make Ram Setu a national monument, although the matter is sub-judice. With this, it becomes more interesting to know if there are possibilities to link Indian mythology with modern day structures.

It is famous for end point of indian mainland. Its a very beautiful deserted place due to an old tsunami incident. We can see old ghostly things like old harbour old railway station and its rail path, broken houses temple chappel etc. The place lost its old beauty after dreadging sand from here to pass boat . This place is meeting point of indian ocean and bengal ocean.

People ruining this place with plastic and food waste. No proper maintenance and total place is filled with small shops. I think government did the great mistake by adding proper road because of that lot of people ruining, but it's life time experience of every bikers and travelers. Just imagine you are traveling on a nice road which covered by ocean on both side it's fantastic feeling in your life time. Pro's: nature and scenic view Con's: people and their unethical behaviour

This is one of the best 🤩 beautiful scenic places in India . The route going there itself is surrounded by sea by both sides and wow it looks beautiful. There isn't any ramsetu so that was disappointing. I think the best time visit will be either sunrise or sunset .

  • 5/5 Sankar S. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing place to spend time with the nature. Can get crowded depending on weekends or festive times. But there are enough car parking and places to get good space. There are many shops to eat snacks drinks and buy some souvenirs. There are barricades on the sea shore on one end, sometimes there are high tides which can be dangerous. Always follow the security guidelines for everyone’s safety. Access to beach closes at 5 pm, so visit early.

Excellent Sea Border At The End Of Bharat. Nice Sea View, Nice Road But Not Good To Visit Between 11 To 4 Pm. Ad There Is No Shadow To Rest & Relax. Better To Visit Early Morning Or Evening.

I recently visited the Ram Setu viewpoint and it was truly breathtaking! The viewpoint itself is well-maintained and offers a great vantage point to take in the beauty of the surroundings. The information boards provided give a brief history of the bridge and its significance in Hindu mythology, which was fascinating to learn about. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Ram Setu viewpoint for a unique and memorable experience.

The last land of india, we went at 6:30 and experienced awesome sun rise, people where less and no security, later people started coming and security and police came they moved people away from sea and made to stand upto a marked flag since no one is allowed further. People perform pujja and can watch old town which was destroyed during tsunami. Can shop for shells and related artifacts.

Must visit place if you are in Rameswaram, nothing much visible about rocks or Srilanka, but travel upto last point itself is very good, sunrise view is amazing, can be more clean and should have security as many people do some adventurous acts

According to the Hindu epic Ramayana, Ram Sethu (also known as Adam's Bridge) is the bridge that Lord Rama built to reach the island of Lanka in order to rescue his wife Sita who had been kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. Lord Rama, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, sought the help of Lord Hanuman and an army of monkeys to construct the bridge across the ocean. The bridge was made of stones that floated on the water and was strong enough to support the weight of Lord Rama's army.

Super place to be at... Plan your timing to visit here, this place is open from 6am to 6pm, preferably reach early to get a view of sunrise, as the sun rises so does the heat, bring in your caps and cooling glasses.. you can see the shades of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean at this Strait...it gets pretty crowded through the day... you do NOT get drinking water here so please carry plenty of it.. you will find locals selling pineapple, watermelon, raw mango, ice creams etc... we had a lot of pineapple and watermelon for hydration... you do have one gentleman with a telescope who shows you the shoreline of Sri-Lanka provided it is a clear day.. there are no garbage bins provided, could see a lot of people littering the place.. you have govt buses plying regularly from Rameswaram Temple (Agniteertham) to Dhanushkodi with very nominal charges... the new road is fantastic to drive.. you can also take a holt at the old railway station, church, beach etc.. you can buy some shell handicraft here.. on this route do not miss on ice apple (palm fruit) when in season, must try the palm jaggery and palm rock-sugar..

Sunrise is a visual treat at the point. You can go explore the magic and fearful face of nature at this tropical land's end point. Observe the life and culture of the fishermen and their communities on the western tip of the subcontinent. Do collect souvenirs from the sea , you'll see plenty.

One of the beautiful places of India. Driving on the road covered by the sea on both sides is a mesmerising experience. The government had a taken wonderful effort to make this place accessible for public and now the people's responsible to keep this place clean and sacred.

One will feel amazed for being here. I can't express my excitement when I reached here. A point where you see sorrounded by three different oceans. It's a great creation by whoever. The religious feelings followes then. The view is charismatic. Generally peaceful waves. People get in the water and it looks harmless. But you will not be able to take a bath in fresh water. The drive to the spot is another amazing feeling. I suggest it to be a worthwhile visit for every Indian.

Its a great place to visit. Better visit early in the morning otherwise the temperature will become a little difficult to manage. Try to do some research on the history of Dhanushkodi and what happened there, after knowing all those things it will definitely give you different feelings when you are there.

It was a very pleasant experience over there. Seashore breeze will give you different level of feelings. It is a must visit place for any one visiting rameshwaram. To reach here, you can use your own vehicle or hire an auto, taxi from Rameshwaram for Rs. 800-1000. The best time to visit Dhanushkodi is during early morning hours from 6 am to watch sunrise. Before 6 am it is not allowed to go there due to the coastal region nearby Srilanka. The best time to visit is 6-8 am if the sky is clear.

Great view, great experience. You must come to see this place at least once in your life. When I was at the front of Asoka Piller at Dhanuskodi, the feeling can not be explained, it only can be felt. Moreover, getting a message from Srilankan telecom service is just awesome. I was on Indian soil, still I got the msg. Just terrific.

It's one of a kind experience. We made a bike trip to the spot. The journey from Rameswaram to Shri Ram Sethu view point was a terrific experience. The straight stretch of road. The wind, the eagles gliding in the wind. It was a beautiful experience. There were some stretch of beach that were deserted and so scenic. Awesome journey.
