A great hideaway to escape the busy life and to blend in with peace. The small river flows through the hotel adds another level of beauty. Luxuries rooms are big with small bathrooms. Only down side is no wifi in the rooms. Limited spread of the dessert section in the buffet but foods are very delicious with lot of options. Absolutely loved the green environment and the clam atmosphere of this transit hotel with eye catching architecture. You can reach the Udawalawe National Park, Udawalawe dam, Lake, Elephant transit home and many other places from this hotel. Special thanks to Mr. Dhanuka and the reception team. Also the amazing hotel staff. Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort is truly a grand gesture of discovering wilderness in a luxurious way.

Positives - big room, convenient location, good value for money Negatives - no wifi in rooms (unforgivable these days), poor breakfast (at least if you arrive at 9.30), expensive buffet, gives impression of being government-owned

Just here for one night on an organised tour. The hotel is really well designed as a safari hotel amongst well-treed gardens. The weather is hot, but the rooms and dining area is cool. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The food has been very good without being outstanding. Used the beautiful pool last night and the gym this morning. :)

I went with friends and family last weekend. We had an amazing time. The kids enjoyed the pool, bike rides and other activities the hotel offers. The staff were professional and very hospitable. The establishment is a fine example of Sri Lankan hospitality!!! I would like to thank everyone involved in making our stay a memorable one. Ryan (Melbourne).

A good hotel, Nice surroundings, Delicious food, Luxurious suites, Clean swimming pools, Calm gymnasium, Friendly staff, Warm hosting and one of the best places in SL to enjoy the nature with Udawalawe National Park and Elephant Transit. I was lucky to find one of my lost gold ear rings ( even after checking out from the hotel) with integrity and genuineness of the hotel staff. Thank you 🙏

Great rooms, all you need is there. Then you come out of your a/c room into the humidity and into a NON a/c dining area, which is lovely but very hot! The pool area could be great but looked neglected and run down. Only me in a huge pool. The changing rooms were again in need of some tlc. Staff very polite and friendly.

We spent one night in this lovely place. They have built keeping the trees intact so you get the feeling of being with nature. You can watch monkeys and birds in the trees. For a week day i didnt expect a buffet for dinner but they gave a good buffet. The drawback i see is the showers are built in to the bath tub. A shower cubicle instead of a tub would have been nice.

Food is very good The staff is the best The swimming pool is well maintained But the parking space is not enough according to the number of visitors. Can highly recommend.

This is probably one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The ambience of the hotel is so beautiful. The way it's designed with such amazing contextual response, connecting you to the nature (The photos do not do justice to the hotel, it's beautiful and you have to be there in person to experience it). The rooms are amazing, with natural elements to make you feel like you are among the nature. Bedroom was really spacious with a separate small living area that opens out to a courtyard within the room, which opens to the sky. I absolutely fell in love with the room the moment I stepped in. Also the wooden bridges, the small open air theatre, central canal dividing rows of room, curved brick walls leading to new wing, all added to a great visual experience. On top of that, there's a beautiful large pool with a pool house, where you can chill with a large group. Also, the staff is really friendly and attentive (probably the nicest staff I've encountered). The only complain I have is that the wifi was not working most of the time. The food was great and super delicious with so many choices. Overall, I had a great experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to visit Udawalawa.

Great place to stay, was part of a bike tour group so 8 of us stayed here with our team and it was a perfect rest stop and a base to visit the safari. Only stayed the one night as we had to move on but would love to come back, great friendly staff

I spent the last weekend at GUSR with my office mates. I must say that this is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway. We spent hours at the pool and we had so much fun there. And I love the vibe of the room. The staff at this property are all great. Front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. So this is an ideal place to stay at Udawalawa. Hope to visit you again.

Only stayed for one night as we had been to the safari and were going to Galle the following day, but the rooms were lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

We loved our stay at Grand Safari resort. The rooms are beautiful. The pool is stunning. Food is amazing. Some have complained about the lack of WiFi on the rooms but we did not care... Why would you need WiFi when you are in this stunning location?! The staff are so kind and attentive. ❤️❤️

Great hotel and a beautiful pool! We had lunch buffet which was excellent and had so many food options. Service was very friendly and nice. Because of the power cut and fuel issues didn’t have power but they tried their best to accommodate us with such difficult environment. Wish we had some cold drinks for the buffet. Removing 1 star for not having cold drinks. Other than that everything was great and clean

It was indeed a pleasure to have to stayed at this resort. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a great one. The food was simply amazing. It was by far the best food I had during my vacation last month. Even with the fuel shortage the resort was able to arrange a safari truck for us to visit the park for a very reasonable rate. Under the given current circumstances in the country they didn't overcharge us. They were able to provide electricity via a generator during the power cut which was great. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who is planning to visit the udawalawe national park

We didn’t stay, instead enjoyed a half a day there swimming and enjoying their delicious food. Pool is wide and well-maintained. What my wife and me mostly happy about was their luxury food. So delicious. Elegantly served. The staff was friendly and caring. And the for the safari jeep that they provide, they give a good guarantee of high satisfaction. Next time, we will go for a stay there.

Place is huge than I thought and totally surrounded by nature. I cannot give 5 stars because of food, but they are okay though. Rooms are perfect and their customer service is good.

If you want time away from busy life and just want calm and peace, Grand Udawalawe is a place to consider. Good resort, with perks of being around the safari + elephant and peacock sightings. Very very helpful staff who always sport a smile on their faces
