現在は新型コロナの影響でバスが減便されているので、個人客の場合はどこへ行くにもアクセスが不便ですが、その分ふだんならありえない程人が少なくてゆっくりできました。8月からは礼文島周遊観光バスも再開されるようなので、少しましになるかと思います。
マリンストア前の病院前バス停から9:01発の元地行きに乗車。9:08
新桃岩トンネルをでた所の分岐で下車させてもらいました。料金は元地港までと同じ410円。
そこから桃台猫台展望台に登り15分くらいいたら、来た道を戻って地蔵岩に30分ほど歩いて着きました。以前は岩の近くを通る8時間コースがあり歩けましたが、現在は落石の危険があるため、看板から先は立ち入り禁止になっています。
看板前からでも巨大さは実感でき、地球の営みの凄さを感じることができました。ここからだと、背景の山が重なって見えるので、写真的にはメノウ海岸方向に少し下がって、良いポジションを探した方が良いです。
帰りのバスまでは、メノウ海岸で色々な石を探して時間をつぶし、11:22元地発でフェリーターミナルに戻りました。
バス停周辺にはトイレと食堂が1軒のみあるだけです。食堂は11時から19時オープンで月曜定休日となっていました。8時間コースで歩けた頃は、安いウニ丼やお土産屋もあったようですが、今は寂れた感じでした。
