It's the freaking pyramids... they are amazing and a global icon of ancient history and travel. The area needs investment and clean up-- for sure. But, come on, it's an incredible location which every person should be able to see. Grab a carriage and bargain for 250 LE for the whole trip around the site-- it's worth it. Give the guy 50 le if he does a good job, 100 if he's great. Be wary of price gouging camel guides-- agree upon a fair price ahead of time. Never more than 200 LE for any photo opportunity. Just be nice, but be firm. It's an amazing location and should be visited in the early morning. If you are a student, bring your ID and you'll get a discount.

While the pyramids are worth more than five stars, the camel and horse riders make you feel unsafe. Furthermore, they are very insistent and some of them are very intimidating. Shame that the authorities do not step in and make the site more safe for tourists.

Giza plateau is a unique place one of the Seven Wonders of the World and I think it's the best one of them. You have to visit I to see the ten pyramids, Sphinx and all tombs there. Also you must go inside the pyramids to see how unique they are and how Pharaoh's were too excellent. Egypt is safe and always welcome all of you, remember you will feel like you are home. Have safe day to all of you and a happy life 😊. From Egypt with love ❤

Excellent plateau, possibly the best plateau in Africa as the views are absolutely amazing. Lots of camels on the plateau to take you around but I honestly wonder if they're well taken cared for as I saw a few older camels looking rather tired on the plateau. Same with the horses too.

The Giza Pyramid Complex, also called the Giza Necropolis, is the site on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt that includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. All were built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries and the remains of a workers village. The site is at the edges of the Western Desert, approximately 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) southwest of the city centre of Cairo. The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, and they have historically been common as emblems of Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination.[1][2]They were popularised in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidonas one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is by far the oldest of the Ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence. The Giza pyramid complex consists of the Great Pyramid (also known as the Pyramid of Cheops or Khufu and constructed c. 2580 – c. 2560 BC), the somewhat smaller Pyramid of Khafre (or Chephren) a few hundred meters to the south-west, and the relatively modest-sized Pyramid of Menkaure (or Mykerinos) a few hundred meters farther south-west. The Great Sphinx lies on the east side of the complex. Current consensus among Egyptologists is that the head of the Great Sphinx is that of Khafre. Along with these major monuments are a number of smaller satellite edifices, known as "queens" pyramids, causeways and valley pyramids.[3]As the pyramids were constructed, the mastabasfor lesser royals were constructed around them. Near the pyramid of Khufu, the main cemetery is G 7000, which lies in the East Field located to the east of the main pyramid and next to the Queen's pyramids. These cemeteries around the pyramids were arranged along streets and avenues.[15]Cemetery G 7000 was one of the earliest and contained tombs of wives, sons and daughters of these 4th Dynasty rulers. On the other side of the pyramid in the West Field, the royals sons Wepemnofret and Hemiunu were buried in Cemetery G 1200 and Cemetery G 4000 respectively. These cemeteries were further expanded during the 5th and 6th Dynasties.[6] West Field The West Field is located to the west of Khufu's pyramid. It is divided into smaller areas such as the cemeteries referred to as the Abu Bakr Excavations (1949–50, 1950–1,1952 and 1953), and several cemeteries named based on the mastaba numbers such as Cemetery G 1000, Cemetery G 1100, etc. The West Field contains Cemetery G1000 – Cemetery G1600, and Cemetery G 1900. Further cemeteries in this field are: Cemeteries G 2000, G 2200, G 2500, G 3000, G 4000, and G 6000. Three other cemeteries are named after their excavators: Junker Cemetery West, Junker Cemetery East and Steindorff Cemetery.[6]:100–122

The views were breathtaking. I was so excited to finally reach the great pyramids. The feeling was just indescribable. There are some things in life you just need to experience once and this was definitely one of those moments. It was a pleasure to visit Cairo and Giza.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It’s very majestic and fascinating, it really speaks for itself. It’s truly jaw dropping eye popping. I’ve been here several times now and it never gets old. It’s one of the ancient wonders of the world and the last one still standing, it’s a very extraordinary place to visit and I would definitely recommend doing so.

There are simply no words to describe the emotion being in front of these 4,500 years old pyramids!!! 5 star is not enough for the beauty and still the mystery around these constructions. However, if I had to rate the organization from the entrance kiosk, to the guidance on the site itself, I would rate this as ZERO! The rip-off starts at the entrance where you get lost with the prices shown; you do not know what is included in your main fee and how many pyramid entrances are included if you add this option. The site is simply an open dustbin, and you can find coca cola cans on the actual pyramids, not to mention the non respect of these monuments by people climbing all over the place. The fault being in the lack of controls from the locals... simply unacceptable! Do not get camel or horse tours; poor animals are mistreated and hurt by their owners.

Can't rate the pyramids of giza & the sphynx highly enough. Visited for the day & would reccomend being on a guided tour so u know what your looking at. Wear comfy flat shoes or trainers are best. Lots of people trying to sell you stuff but I reccomend just not speaking to them or before u know it they will put a scarf on ur head or try giving u a papyrus as a gift but it's all a ruse & will want money. If u ho with a guide they protect you & they knee our guide so pretty much left us alone. Definitely allow at least 2 to 3 hours to have a proper walk around. It will be hot so take bottled water. You can walk around the pyramids & on the pyramids but if u want to go into the pyramid there is an extra charge. We booked this tour from hurghada with ramashka tours, our tour guide was mamma & he was awesome. You can find their tours on trip advisor & I would reccomend booking before u get to Egypt on holiday. You can book tours once there in egypt but can be more expensive & if u don't have a tour guide u will miss out on enjoying this amazing place. The tour guide will also give u so much information it adds so much to the tour. Don't go to Egypt without going here this is my most memorable place I visited on my hols. Standing at the base of the sphynx & looking up with the pyramids in the background was breath taking. I went 6th Nov and temp was around 28 so ideal temperature.

Interesting to see the great pyramids. Normal admission even covers entry into 2 small pyramids without additional cost. Beware! Some taxi drivers take you to the rear exit and to a horse carriage guy telling you that it is not allowed to walk, this is a lie and the rides are a scam, taking you on a small route including "photoshoot" at a panoramic view were you get to ride a camel, this is for an additional (large) charge in tips. The guy gets quite mad if you give him only a small tip. A good idea is to tell taxis that you want to go to Pizza hut near Haram (pyramids), this will bring you to the main entry, and pizza hut even has a good view of the plateau while you eat. The plateau itself is alright, you have to buy tickets for Kheops pyramid at the main window, which is 10 minutes walk from the pyramids, something you do not get to do if you are on the scammy horseride... The admission covers entry into 2 small pyramids which might give you an idea of what to expect. Note that, like for all other temples, and such in Egypt, All people who say that photos are free want tips, even the ones who you tell that you do not have any tips... All in all a good experience, which can be ruined by lying horse slingers who send you on rides that are not worth it, i.e. you only get a glimpse of the sphinx as you pass by, no close look at the pyramids, etc.

Giza Pleateau is where the Giza Necropolis located. Here in Giza, to the west of Cairo, Egypt, lies the most famous monument worldwide and the desired monument to be visited by the masses in every corner of the earth. The three Pyramids and the Sphinx have an appeal that forces people to travel thousands of miles to see them.

(Translated by Google) I am impressed with this place, wonderful. It is not in the middle of the desert, as some people imagine, but in the province of Giza which is part of the agglomeration of Cairo. So on the one hand you can see the city's perspective and the desert on the other. The pyramids are huge, made of large boulders, you can even climb up to a certain height. Of course, tourists are besieged there by local traders, I recommend using the services of rickshaw carriers, the price can be reduced to 12 euros per person and within an hour's drive, see the pyramids from a different perspective, without being intrusive. I went to this place from Hurghada, six hours one way and I really don't regret it, it was worth it.

The Necropolis of Giza is a complex of ancient monuments of the Egyptian civilization located on the Giza plateau. Inside there are mainly the Pyramid of Cheops or Great Pyramid - the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world according to the list drawn up by Antipater of Sidon that has come down to the present day -, the Pyramid of Chefren, the Pyramid of Menkaure and the Sphinx, surrounded by other small buildings, known as the Pyramids of the Queens, funerary temples, processional ramps, downstream temples and cemeteries from various eras. So let's be clear the Pyramids themselves get lO stars! We took a private tour which was OK but we wanted another visit. So we went with a taxi for our second visit. This relates to the horse and carriage company if you can call them that, which operates from premises near by. So our taxi pulls into a car park and the driver says he can't (won't) go further. We are ushered into a small building and the guy there starts telling us about the options available. Basically he wanted either 1200 or 1300 or 1800 EGP per person for different length of tours with the horse and carriage. We were on the verge of walking out and he says "OK OK how much you wanna pay". We said 500 EGP for the three of us. He said 600. Anyway in the chaos that followed and under pressure we eventually agreed to pay 1000 EGP total. So an hour later and it has to be said with some great photos, we were heading back to the stable area but still on the main road, when the horse driver also known as the tour guide abruptly stops the carriage with us on it and demands a tip. Anyway, he manages to extort another 300 EGP of us and says we must give it to him now. Got back to the building and they want to show us some oils and some other stuff to which we said no. It's the wild west, but in Giza, Cairo.

Due to COVID-19 and decrease of tourists it is possible to enter Kufu's pyramid without prior reservations. The pyramid is narrow, steep and some parts have extremely low ceiling so take that into account.

Nothing quite prepates you for the pyramids. It is hard to grasp the precision, the size and the age, and imagine it could have been build so many centuries ago. Here some tips. Go early, the heat is intense. Go with a private tour guide. Ignore those that are trying to sell their goods.
