This is a decent hotel and is right in downtown Reno. Right next to the Reno sign in fact. It is also not a casino, which is rare. The rooms are nice and clean, staff is friendly. There is a bouldering gym and climbing wall on the side of the building if you're into that. This hotel allows guests with dogs, which some people may appreciate, but it seems like they mix the dog owners with non dog owners on all the floors. I had an aggressive dog bark at me and my family as an elevator opened. Some people don't control their dogs and let them run around the lobby and hallways. You also can hear dogs barking from your hotel room. Also, I don't want to stay in a room that had a dog before me.. I think they need to plan this out better and put the dog owners on a single floor down low instead of making other guests suffer. It is also a huge liability if anyone gets bitten on their property. Just saying...

Breakfast in the restaurant was pretty darn good. Huge portions to match the price. The room was very warm. I kept adjusting the thermostat to no avail. Called twice. On the second day, Joseph came and fixed the issue. But hot water and cold water were turned on. Should only have been cold turned on. He knew what the problem was and fixed it quickly. Very dog friendly hotel. Though I was told on the phone the fee was 75.00, but at the hotel they charged 100.00, there is a great little dog park right next to the hotel. She to a festival on the street, finding the parking garage was very difficult due to all the blocked off streets. Overall a decent stay.

How in the heck is this hotel rated so well??? I just really don't know why they don't let people know ahead of time that the parking garage is not only OFF SITE, but it is extremely sketchy to walk in after dark. DO NOT forget something in your car, if you do make sure you take someone with you. The elevator doesn't work so park on a lower floor, otherwise you're hoofing it up all the ramps, you could take the stairs but I'm pretty sure there are people who live in it.. super scary... They told me I got "free parking" like it was a bonus and to show the "person at the exit" a little pass. There was no person, people were free to come and go as they please. While the room was clean (let's face it, shouldn't they be??!! you don't get extra points for cleaning a room), it was EXTREMELY hot and we weren't able to sleep. We were told by the front desk staff that "that's just how it is". When you are paying $200+ for a room you should definitely have a good working air conditioner and be able to sleep. The girl that checked us in was very sweet, that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. You are better off going to the Renaissance, they have better amenities BY FAR.. AND they are right on the river!! I will never stay here again. I came with my mom to get away from my kids and spend quality time with her since she lives out of town... Biggest waste of $300 ever!!!

Attempted to reach out to the management before writing this review, but never heard back, so here it goes. I love searching out and staying in boutique hotels, and thought we would give this a chance on our way home from California! The good: The restaurant staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was beyond outstanding!! The bad: Front desk staff was not very friendly or welcoming upon arrival, but we were too tired from our drive to make it a big deal. Our room upon initial inspection seemed cute and cozy, however, we found used latex gloves and hair all over the bathroom. We went down to use the steam room that we were very excited about, only to find it smelling dank and dirty, again, hair all over the floor...it appeared to not have been cleaned all day, forget about relaxing eucalyptus steam we were hoping for! Arriving back to our room after trying the steam room, I tucked myself into bed, the mattress and pillows were very comfy. My daughter attempted to get into her bed and was unable, as the sheets were a hot mess. We took the comforter off to find unmatched, misfitting, and holey sheets on her bed, and stains on the pillowcases. We had to remake her bed and she subsequently used one of my pillows. This was not the stay we were hoping for...will most likely not be staying again.

The experience I had attempting to check into this hotel was awful. When I pulled up in our Sprinter van on Thursday at 4pm and asked where to park, I was given two vague suggestions (the El Dorado and Shim’s) and there was no offer to take my bags or provide a shuttle. Neither suggestion panned out. When we attempted to call the hotel to ask where we should park, we were on hold for over 10 minutes, then hung up on. When we then called the valet for help, we were told no, a shuttle could not be provided because the one person who can drive the shuttle was busy. The vibe was, we are not here to help you, despite paying nearly $200 for a hotel room. Why do you have teenagers who don’t know how to offer good service working your valet? Why do you have so few people staffing your telephone line? Why don’t you have an appropriate suggestion for where large vehicles can park? Why don't you have more people on staff who can drive your shuttle? Why don’t you offer even a modicum level of service? We left, because there was nowhere safe to park, and the Whitney declined to provide a refund. Spend your hard-earned money on a hotel that actually cares about your experience.

Lovely check in staff who were efficient and helpful. The location is simply amazing - right on the walking street and next to the Reno arch. You would think that being so close to the action the noise might bleed into the rooms however that isn’t the case at all. The windows keep out lots of sound. The hotel rooms had nice features - the beds were comfy enough without being mind blowing. The shower was a bit disappointing and hard to use the knob and I’m unsure of the shower curtain. It looked a bit dirty. The staff in the restaurant downstairs were fantastic and they had some great deals on for a patio party during the wing festival!

They could definitely benefit from a different type of front door that doesn't require guests to push it open. It can be a real struggle for visitors, especially those with their hands full or when the weather is rough. The lobby is stunning. The front desk manager, a very considerate and friendly gentleman, is a standout. However, the standard of the rooms doesn't quite match the elegance of the lobby. While the rooms are decently designed with nice features like a comfortable single couch, a functional office desk, and a chair, the spring bed tends to be loud and not the most comfortable. Also, there seems to be a recurring issue with the shower drains being clogged with the previous guest's hair in every new room I checked-in. The hotel always sends someone to fix it instantly. Nevertheless, the bathrooms themselves are clean and pleasant. I love that this hotel is pet friendly. It's delightful to bump into different people and dogs everyday. The gym is equipped with decent exercise machines, but it's very dimly lit. I had an unpleasant experience with their breakfast when six of my co-workers and I suffered from food poisoning. I've heard from others that they've since resolved this issue, although there was no apology offered to any of us. On a more positive note, one of my best experiences was the New Year's Eve dinner at WP. They offered a fantastic dinner selection, and their cocktail options were impressive. The floor staff consistently provided excellent service and were very friendly. Overall, WP is a decent hotel, but it has some issues that could be improved.

We completely enjoyed our stay! The people walking outside were happy and having a good time. I expected the area around the hotel to have a "dirty downtown" feel, but it absolutely didn't!! The hotel smelled so good, clean and fresh! Our room was on the 16th floor and our view was spectacular. Even though we arrived about midnight, the area was busy with cars, and it was fun to watch them from so high up! The mattress was soft and comfy, the room was very spacious, large bathroom, big brightly lit mirror. Totally loved the decor! Would highly recommend!! Friendly staff!

This was a good stay. The hotel is in middle of downtown. There's no casino in the hotel which appreciated because you don't get overwhelmed with foot traffic upon entering. There is a casino however right across the street. I'm giving five stars but I hope they address the air conditioning. It appears they have it programmed at 75 degrees and no matter how much you adjust its not getting any cooler which presents a problem after coming into your room after being in the Reno heat. But again it was a good stay. We ate at the restaurant twice and it was enjoyable.

The location is right downtown so there are some shady people outside of the hotel but inside the hotel has a lot of character! The staff is really friendly and the bar is well stocked with great menu and good drinks. Classy with a shabby chic look. The event room that we used was fabulous with again great character. Shabby chic, music icons , nice details. Highly recommend!

Wow! We had a great stay! The restaurant, while a little pricey, is very delicious and well worth it. The climbing gym is one of the most unique features I’ve encountered in a hotel and was great fun. Rooms were clean, staff was incredibly friendly, and our dog loved it all too!

Loved the atmosphere of the hotel. Everyone was very friendly. Dogs are welcomed for a $75 cleaning fee and receive a goodie bag upon check-in. The room was spacious and nice, but the carpet had some big stains, presumably because this was a pet room. There is a dog park a block down which was convenient. There are many transients, so walking the dog late and early was a bit unnerving. Cafe Whitney had great food and only a 30 minute wait, but did have a minimum order. Valet was good, but a bit slow at times. Overall, we had a great stay!

We loved our stay here. Newer hotel super clean, had a huge rock wall to climb, dog friendly, entire hotel non smoking, free dog treats and dog friendly, nice cafe for happy hour drinks. Soft beds, Our room didn’t have a fridge and the shower head came to chest level and I’m only 5’7 only bad things I have to say.

Nice, 'newer' hotel in Reno without a casino! Non-smoking throughout. The Cafe is reasonably priced and the staff is nice. My reason for docking 1 star on the rooms is that while they ARE updated, the outlets are so loose that my charging plugs kept falling out, or the outlet didn't work. No hooks in the bathroom for towels other than the towel rack above the toilet. So, minor issues to be sure, but not rising to '5 Stars'. And if you're a rock climber, there's no other option given the Base Camp climbing gym partnership.

Likes: Clean, renovated hotel Free drink coupons Purified water dispensers for water bottles Dislikes: The parking lot is across the street. When you arrive, I would recommend parking in the valet area and checking in before entering the parking structure so that you have the “in and out” pass. Otherwise, if you enter the lot first, make sure to bring it in to get validated.

This hotel doesn’t deserve a good review, let alone more than two stars. The room smelled like cigarettes and sweat. The AC incredibly noisy. Everybody I interacted with was super nice and professional but honestly $250/night for this is just not right. There has to be better options.

Reserved king bed room. Only had double queen when we checked in. Toilet would not flush. Had to call maintenance at 1215am. Lamp head fell off, under the beds were filthy. Had to pay for self parking. Management never offered discount or breakfast to make up for all short comings. This was a Wednesday night. Never going back. Mike C

Definitely DO NOT do your event here! Dinner here. Event. About 99 a ticket. The food they served tasted like mediocre deli food from an average, not the best, store. It didn't have enough different dishes, nor enough different options. It was a huge let down. The chef must have been new. It definitely was very mediocre food. The audio sound turned OFF in the middle of the speech, while they were speaking. There was background music that turned off and it turned off all the sound that the presenter was connected to. The presenters had to yell. Arrived early to ask staff for four RESERVED signs for the reserved club tables. She took off, never came back with the signs. Asked another staff member for reserved signs. He never came back either. One club was very offended because they said they paid extra for a reserved table and it looked like people were sitting wherever. They were able to get their reserved table, but it was a mess. At least the dessert was good. Not super fancy, tasted like any dessert from a store bakery.

The Whitney peak is a great place to stay and take your service dog. I loved it. My son enjoyed his first time there in Reno. The only complaints I have is the bed seemed like a mountain I almost fell off the bed a few times if I didn't scoot to the center of the bed. And when we got there the restroom smelled like vomit the whole stay. Was an un pleasant smell every time we used the restroom.

Definitely my favorite hotel in Reno yet. Not only do they leave out a pair of slippers for you, the rooms are quiet and clean. Our window opened which is a huge bonus! The view was exciting with the craziness of Reno that we enjoy watching. No swimming pool but there is quite the rock climbing setup inside and outside of the hotel. Will definitely stay again if I can get a good price. They are spendy but worth it. Photos of our view and the Reno sign is right next to it.

I never leave reviews but my wife and I were very disappointed with our experience. We were excited to stay but the bed was very uncomfortable. So we asked to change rooms and the bed was much better but the new room had a dog barking and a party in the room next door. It was so loud and uncomfortable that we left and moved to the Renaissance. The location of the hotel felt sketchy, the rooms were dated. The elevators didn’t work well. And it was very noisy.

I booked a room 4 months in advanced for a 2 bedroom suite. We spent a ton of money coming to Reno find they only had a king standard room for all of us. They said it’s expedias fault which I called them and they stated they are just a software company so it’s what they center on there end. So the hotel scammed us and now have no where to stay. I was thinking of doing our quarterly event here but glad I found this out early to move my business else where . Very poor service and will look at a law suit for false advertising

The hotel is very pretty. Our checkin experience was friendly, efficient, and quick. We were given a large king room that was well appointed except for one light that did not work. Upon arrival in the room at about 9:30 pm the room temperature was 64 degrees. We set the thermostat to 69 degrees. Two hours later in was 62 degrees. I played with the thermostat for 15 minutes and was not able to get the air-conditioning off, so I turned off the thermostat and went to bed. At 6:30 n the morning the temperature was still 62 degrees. We called the front desk and we were told that maintenance could not come until 7 am when the start. When they showed up he was able to get the heat on by going into the system in the wall and told us a part needed to be replaced. We went to check out and met a man in the elevator who had the same problem. After checking out, we met another couple who were checking out with the same problem. It seems many of the rooms, if not all the rooms have the same problem. That is not an acceptable wait to treat customers, thus my poor rating.

The building and location were beautiful, but the staff and overall experience were lacking. We attended a function in one of the conference rooms that was catered by the hotel staff. The bartender was nice but short poured everything and also made multiple mistakes on our order. The catering staff almost pestered us offering the same trays of apps over and over. The valet parking staff did not know how to drive a manual and had to find someone who could. When the event was over, they were so busy they gave us our ticket to go pick up our vehicle ourselves, and then gave us incorrect directions to get into the parking garage, and the wrong floor (they said it was on the 4th floor but it was on the ground level.) The food was mediocre at best, and there were very few items to choose from on the buffet. Also the staff recommended the corn bread for a gluten-free option (corn bread is made with wheat flour.) Had I been less informed I could have gotten very ill. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and had a pretty good experience, but we would NOT book a function here in the future.

Rooms are older and need some updating. We had to move nightstands to plug in our phones. The desk chair was tilted and looked unsafe... We never sat it in. The headboard on the bed was mounted on the wall at an angle. The wallpaper in the bathroom was ugly. But the gym, while dark, was decent. It was quiet... Which was great ... Just needs an update.

We just had our wedding here and the venue was incredible. The 3rd floor where weddings are held, was beautiful. The food was incredible. Our on site wedding coordinator was amazing and was on her feet all day making sure me and my wife were not stressed one bit and helped us enjoy the day

I love the room. It's nicely updated and the bed is comfortable. The view is great for me. I love being able to see the mountains. I'm not a fan of the shower. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in mounted pumps. I do not care for any of these products and felt like it was watered down. I don't know whether the facade of this hotel was the result of the pandemic but it is very uninviting and extremely unpleasant to look at.

For the price it would have been perfectly great except we stayed during a heat wave. The hotel AC simply couldn't keep up with the upper 90s temperatures experienced during the day so the rooms were in the upper 70s low 80s at night. I'd stay here again but not during the summer. When I asked the staff about the issue we got a free breakfast which was nice but couldn't get the room cooled. So cool (and slightly sketchy) location, love the rock wall, excellent diner, and wonderful staff; however, don't stay here during high summer. The place just can't handle heat well and you might not be able to sleep like I couldn't.

Great location! Walkable distance to so many things to do and restaurants. A couple downers is that our room couldn’t get cooler than about 75 degrees. Someone came to fix it, but it didn’t help. We stayed 3 nights and could barely sleep, it was so hot. Likewise, I heard the food is really good! However, they stop serving breakfast/“brunch” at 10am - maybe keeping this option open later would be more beneficial for guests! The front desk workers were so lovely, and the maintenance man was the sweetest!

We really enjoyed the hotel and found it to be well run and professional. The room we got was spacious and lovely. The people were friendly and it was a great place to stay. Our only concerns might have been the neighborhood it's in, which is downtown Reno and can be a bit sketchy, and it's a challenge to find parking. Overall a wonderful experience, would definitely visit again.

3.5 stars....Room was appropriately sized for 2 queen beds, bathroom was clean and plenty of towels. The room had a safe, two complimentary use robes and 2 complimentary use slippers. The in-room air conditioner was somewhat loud and blew directly on one of the beds. There's no room service in the hotel but you can call down to the on-site restaurant for take away. The bar tenders were all friendly and quick with the drinks (Kevin was cool!)

Great hotel, but pricey. Rooms were spacious and clean. Lobby was really nice. Loved the restaurant even though we only tried the bar area. I would definitely recommend and stay here again. We easily walked around downtown from this hotel.

We booked whitney peak for our wedding in December. We loved the location and the look of the hotel plus the rooms are clean, spacious, and in the heart of downtown. The wedding process was amazing with the help from Jen and especially Allie they made the process easy and their communication was outstanding. The food was great and we felt confident in all our choices for the space. We had the best wedding and our guest were as in love with the space as we were. We were lucky that the weekend of the wedding was the Santa crawl and the streets were closed off to capture amazing pictures of down town. Overall a great expirience and we have a place to celebrate our anniversary each year.

My partner and I stayed at the Whitney Peak on our way to California to get married and then again on the way back. My partner surprised me with their mimosa package on the way and the romance package on our return. It was so sweet of the hotel to even put rose petals on the bed in a heart-shape for us! Everyone working here was really kind too. Our beagle loved the dog park just adjacent to the hotel. We really recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Reno!!

Renovated place with up to date vibe. Rooms are comfortable and clean, but could be better. Food in the restaurant is excellent. Happy hour from 4 to 6pm is great wit a lot of variety of fresh food. Valet parking is $20, which I recommend because area around feels very unsafe. Gunshots woke me up around 2 am.

I stayed here for a wedding awhile back. The rooms were pretty decent and I liked that it was away from the smokey casinos, but they need to do something about the doors connecting the rooms. I have never received complaints about being noisy in a hotel before. I am generally pretty respectful, but the noise complaints were none stop and in multiple rooms. I could definitely hear my neighbors as well. The first night I was laying in bed with the tv on silently and got a call from the front desk saying I was being too loud. I was half asleep. Then in another room during the day there were multiple complaints from neighbor about us being too loud. Security stood outside our door on a few occasions to double check the noise level and they couldn’t hear anything in the hall. It was all through the connecting room doors. The staff was all very nice about it and knew we weren’t being loud and gave a few freebies for the inconvenience. They did mention that it is a known issue and not uncommon to receive multiple noise complaints. They definitely should add some insulation or something around the doors cause it really tainted my experience.

SF is busy which means more frequent updates are needed to maintain 100% of standards. That being said, The W offers exceptional customer service and amenities such as fresh juice and espresso in room. The location is fantastic and the rooms are great except some scratches and dents from needed maintenance.

  • 5/5 E E. 10 months ago on Google
The staff and hotel were amazing. A couple blocks away it feels very unsafe. But we just had the valet park our car. Other than being a couple blocks away from a sketchy area, this hotel was amazing. The food was amazing, the rock gym is dope, and the rooms are really nice.

2 ppl w 2-beds- always only given 1 face cloth even after asking and hand given to one of us each day! No actual parking at hotel but a lot was available within a couple of blocks to use at no charge IF you make online hotel reservations! They did have a lot of freebies- breakfast, dog swag bag & 4 different beers in the room besides coffee! I would recommend this hotel!

So we went to Whitney Peak for Father's day dinner. First, we were the only ones there and got no attention from anyone for at least 10 minutes despite there were staff there. Also, the ample supply of staff did not seem to care about us or the fact the phone was ringing. The food was not correct, for example I order the pasta with tomato sauce. It was filled with sun-dried tomatoes and this was not even on the description of the dish. My daughter's order also came out incorrect with dressing when it was requested to be on the side. I have a group of scientists coming to stay at this hotel. I am extremely disappointed by what I observed and hope this will improve by October.

Don't be fooled....Whitney Peak Hotel is one of the biggest rip-offs in downtown Reno. They promote themselves as a dog friendly place and say that dogs are welcome. This is just a shameless exploitation of travelers who have pets and think they have limited options. we booked there last week and indicated 2 adults and a dog. They sent a confirmation stating "your total cost is $157.00 for the room not including breakfast." When we arrived they demanded a $75.00 non refundable fee for the dog. That appears no place in their website and was not mentioned in their room confirmation. They use the dog feature, just to add an additional fee. There is no sincere or genuine interest for pets, contrary to their advertising. Additionally, they try to pass themselves off as an upscale hotel. I have traveled all over the world and The Whitney Peak is a 3 star at best. The carpets in the hallways are filthy dirty and the carpet in the rooms are even worse. They look like they have not been shampooed in decades. The dining room was also extremely dirty and should be reviewed by the Board of Health (seriously). I found nothing in the service, atmosphere that would ever draw me back there. My advice to travelers with pets is try one of the MANY small motels in and around the neighboring streets (there are several), the rooms will be cheaper and you can not even mention about your pet or offer the desk clerk $25 cash to accept your pet. I always try to write a positive or upbeat review if I can. Just cant bring myself to do that here.

Great views, clean rooms, very hip vibe with nice decor. Bed is comfortable, lots of extra pillows. Large rooms, all the amenities. The exercise room is small but has everything needed to get a workout. The rock wall climbing area is fantastic! Huge facilities indoor and out. Affordable and fun!! No casino (this is a good thing), bar and restaurant. It's got everything. Right across from casinos, shops and restaurants at El Dorado.

The location is great and close to everything, but we had issues with our room and couldn't be placed elsewhere because they were sold out. We requested a mountain view months in advance, but ended up with a city view room. It was fine and not the end of the world. Additionally, our bath tub's glazing had been chipped off from use of prior guests and if you weren't careful, it was sharp on the bottom of our feet. We ended up wearing cushion flip flops in the shower as an extra precaution to protect our feet. The room was 5/100 clean as the pillows had mascara marks all over them and the towels had blood stains (housekeeping replaced the mascara pillows and we all shared the one clean towel we had). Luckily, our air conditioning worked fine and I loved the mirror in the bathroom, the slippers, and the robes. Plenty of outlets too. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed it after the pillows had been replaced. The club level floor is good for snacks, but you're better off doing the Bed and Breakfast deal because that was wonderful for our family. The restaurant is very nice and the staff are fantastic; we loved the bartenders. Checking in and out was fine. You don't need the club level, but I highly recommend the bed and breakfast option because the food was great.
