Strolling
along
the
rue
Saint-Louis
en
l’Île
when
the
girlfriend
eyed
this
place,
Amorino,
and
wanted
her
fix
of
gelato.
“Hmmm”,
me
thinks,
“competition
for
Bertillon,
right
under
their
noses"
—
or
at
least
right
down
the
street.
Background,
Bertillon
was
established
in
1954
and
as
far
as
I
know
had
for
years
pretty
much
owned
this
island’s
ice
cream
business
—
and
for
good
reason,
it’s
great
with
many
amazing
flavors.
But
apparently
two
friends
of
Italian
origins
decided
to
pursue
their
passion
and
open
an
Italian
gelato
shop
a
few
doors
down
and
Amorino
was
born
in
2002…
I’m
only
now
discovering
it.
Apparently
they
have
over
200
shops
worldwide,
including
some
20
stores
in
the
US:
NYC,
Boston,
Chicago,
Dallas,
etc.
The
large
selection
of
flavors,
the
generous
serving,
the
presentation
an
elaborate
work
of
art…
Well,
the
girlfriend
was
abundantly
happy
with
her
beautifully
crafted
rose
cone,
each
petal
a
different
flavor,
crowned
with
a
tasty
macaron.
The
staff
were
cheerful
and
eager
to
please,
the
ambiance
was
inviting
and
warm
(and
the
gelato
cold!):
I’ve
assigned
them
a
well
merited
five
stars.
Shame
we
don’t
have
an
Amorino
here
in
Tucson,
although
I
suppose
our
local
Frost
wouldn’t
like
that
too
much…
:-)
Hopefully
your
visit
to
Paris
lasts
longer
than
a
day
so
you’ll
have
a
chance
to
indulge
yourself
at
both
Amorino
and
Bertillon.
Competition
aside,
they’re
both
great
and
equally
deserving
of
your
custom.
Your
sweet
tooth
will
not
be
disappointed.
