Pretty much hit the nail on the head for what it was going for. Ordered take out. The meant balls weren’t “filled.” Love the rapini inclusion (extra cost).

Nothing too special at all. The food was good, Caesar salad was the star of the show. Every dish we ordered really lacked a wow-factor to it, nothing was very memorable. Staff and service were average, very minimal interaction. I probably would never crave this place, but the location and parking are very convenient. Looks like it’s popular for larger groups and parties.

Had a nice lunch here a couple days ago. The pesto pasta was one of the best I've ever had, and I would totally recommend it. The seafood didn't taste as fresh as I hoped it would. It seemed like it had just been microwaved. Similar with the chicken, it tasted like the oven roasted chicken you'd find at Costco. But our server was nice, and it wasn't too busy.

We had a table of 13 and our new friend Gabriel was absolutely wonderful, patient and very courteous. He took great care of us. The food and drinks were tasty and cooked exactly as we requested. No complaints here for sure. Will go back in a heart beat

We went to celebrate a milestone birthday this past week and we had a great experience. The server Steven was so nice and helpful. We were a party of 11 people. The food came out hot and on time. The calamari was delicious and the chicken parmesan was a big hit!! Thank you for accommodating our personal cake and thank you for great service. While the food and service was excellent, the pricing for some items was a bit high. Definitely recommend

Finally, a non-vegan restaurant that has a robust menu for vegans. The menu had a variety of appetizers, wine, cocktails, entrees and dessert. Thank You! The only reason I didn't give the food a 5-star is because the pasta was a little bit oily.

The food was decent overall. It is more on the pricey side. The service was excellent. Our server always made sure everything was fine and was nice enough to give us free espresso shots at the end of the dinner.

Average typical American styled Italian like restaurant. Easy to find parking spot. Pasta wasn’t the best, not enough pesto. Pizza was unique. The restaurant itself is nice and clean with a bright bar.

Overall, it’s a good place but pricy! Pizza was pretty delicious and really well prepared. Pasta was not what I expected. Salad was acceptable. See pictures and bill for better judgment. It’s better to say that a bottle of water will cost $8 before serving! If they reduce the price by %20, it wouldn’t be beatable. But pizza was great 👍

NOT Recommended at all!!! Rude services and mediocre food. This is my personal experiences, others may have better experiences then mine. The hostess was extremely rude. I’ve been to all kind of higher end restaurants. Never seen a hostess stare at you like you owe them money. She didn’t speak a single word , no smile , basically impolite and at first I wasn’t even sure if she work there. (Long hair , short, heavy set). When I ask for a table, she brought us to the smallest table in the centre of the restaurant when there are a lot of empty bigger space seats around. (And those seats are used by mainly two diners just like us). I hope it’s not because of the race minority issue we’re getting. It’s just unbearable and unacceptable. I can’t believe the restaurant hired such incompetent employee. The actual waiter was just okay... he seem extremely busy and somewhat not as friendly as the other waiter and waitresses in the restaurant. The food. Fried Calamari was tasty. Salmon on the other hand was absolutely terrible, for the cost of 32$, it taste pretty much like home made , very dull, nothing stand out. The potatoes and carrots don’t have much taste either. If you are to charge a higher end price tag. The main course definitely didn’t meet the high end expectations. Maybe I should ordered an Italian dish but that’s no excuse for mediocre salmon. I’ve also ordered another desert just to go (it’s cheese cake and it taste okay, nothing special, loblaw made the same quality for less). because I figured I want something sweet to cheer myself up but didn’t wanna stay in the restaurant. I came to this place base on the google review and apparently I’m assuming my personal experience was just very different. I want to rate two stars but was just really frustrated and angry for such lousy experience I’m getting. To be fair the fried calamari was good but that’s all. Other restaurant offer same calamari with great main course and much polite welcoming services. I wouldn’t come back and definitely not recommended.

Great service and good food. Portion is larger, good for groups of 4 or above to share. Wine selection per category is around 4. Not bad but could have been better.

Service was abominably slow and prices were 30% more than posted on the website and not really worth it. Too noisy. If they didn't have enough staff they should not have accepted so many reservations.

I really appreciated how safe the Il Fornello's patio felt with spaced out tables and screen dividers between tables. Staff were are all kind, courteous and respectful. Great food and good portion sizes. My group got a reservation the day before as well. Will come again!

We’re never gonna be back. Pros: the quality of food is great and the restaurant has a great vibe. Cons: this is probably the most kid-unfriendly place we’ve been to. To the point that they wouldn’t “allow” the kids to draw on the disposable paper on the table. The servers are hit and miss. The initial waitress had so much attitude and almost rolled her eyes at us. She put my glass of water on the opposite side of the table where nobody was sitting. Eventually a new waitress came and she was great. This is a pricey restaurant and they should have better customer service.

Nice fair priced Italian restaurant, with rising dinning (and everything else) prices, I’m glad Il Fornello still kept their prices reasonable. Love the pizza, great tasting and consistent. We’re a large group celebrating friend’s birthday, our server was very accommodating, and enhanced the experience. The antipasto plate was great for 4-5 people, pasta was also well done. Been here a few times and not once we were disappointed.

Amazing Italian restaurant with a modern atmosphere that has a cozy feeling. The food and service were excellent. Our server accommodated all of our requests perfectly. It makes me really happy that there are vegan options available on the menu. I was ecstatic to see vegan desserts available too. Highly recommend!

Came here on a Saturday night and it was at maybe 60% capacity. Wasn’t very busy so I was expecting our food to come out fresh and piping hot. Sadly that wasn’t the case, most of the dishes were warm. - Arancini: 4.3/5 - came with 3, we were a group of 4, so needed to add $$ for another one - Calamari Fritti: 3/5 underwhelming, wasn’t crispy enough, only saving grace was the sauce was good - Penne Capri: 3.8/5 flavour was good (I think it needed more salt, but my family thought it was fine), could’ve used more toppings (ie veggies) - Lamb chops: 3.5/5 what a skinny lamb! the pieces were very small, and it needed more seasoning. Mashed potatoes were good. - Pizza Fichi: 4.5/5 figs were so good, crust was just right, yum! Overall, atmosphere was good. Our server Mike was attentive (he remembered and brought over a piece of cake which was kind of him). We got a comfy sofa seat which was nice. Price was reasonable for what we got! Would come again in the future to try other dishes.

Amazing service. A little pricy for students but still good. Great variety of vegan and vegetarian options. The pasta was slightly undercooked, however still delicious. Good cocktail menu and alcohol options.

Amazing. Huge separate vegan menu. It was so hard to choose one meal! The food was delicious, the drink selection was great, perfect atmosphere for a date or a nice dinner with friends or family. Hopefully we can get a patio seat next time because it is set up so cute! Cannot wait to come back!

Great food, great options. That are server was top notch, on the ball and entertaining. Is it great place for vegans, they do have quite a selection for vegetarians and vegans. They also have mini gluten-free options so everyone will be sure to find something they will like. Our food and drinks arrived very quickly, the quality, portions and flavours were spot on. The classic go to spot in Richmond Hill I highly recommend it!

We had a great time at this restoran, delicious fresh food, amazing staff, safe environment. Every table was separated by space devider, so guests was in some kind of cabin, very though throught dining. Strongly recommend this place.

We had a company year end dinner here, the environment is nice but the food is not what I expected, I ordered steak medium cooked, but it's a little bit dry and not that flavorable. By the way the dessert is good. Hopefully the chef can improve their dishes and make them more tasty.

Excellent experience at Il Fornello Richmond Hill. It was so refreshing to have several creative vegetarian and plant-based options on menu. Pasta was delicious. Our server, Bianca, was outstanding - friendly, helpful, and very efficient. The main thing that would have made our experience better was noise level - very loud, even in our very comfortable and relatively secluded corner booth. This said, we still enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and will definitely return.

Nice Italian restaurant, there are some other Italian restaurants in the area and this is the best I have tried so far. Waiters were nice and polite. Their menu is not that big; I liked it because it makes choice simple and easy for customers) and everything we order was pretty tasty.

My mom's 90th birthday and she was treated like a Queen. Service was great. The food was very good. It should be on the Michelin guide. 5 stars

Hostess was really terrific to find us a place outside in the patio. Mushroom pizza was superb. Pear and Gorganzola salad was excellent as well. Dressing was crisp and light. The apple whisky gin and tonic was a wonderful cocktail.

Interesting what happened here... I've been to this place a number of times. The other night while there, I felt the food wasn't hot enough so, I asked them to just heat it up for me. All I required was a few seconds in a microwave and I would have been more than satisfied. They refused to do it stating it would "hurt the quality of their food" and they proceeded to make me a new meal from scratch to "ensure I was happy". I really don't mind the "microwave adjustment" but they absolutely refused to do it! Needless to say it was excellent as was the service. They have a tent covered outdoor area for those not wishing to be inside the restaurant. Not sure how that will fare as cooler weather approaches but, this restaurant rates as high as it can.

It’s hard to get an authentic Italian taste right, but it’s another to do it in a vegan and plant based version. This is the first time in 4 years that I’ve had lasagna and was completely satisfied. The sauce was the perfect amount of taste, flavour and had the right kick to add with the lasagna. The tofu-based cheese was well textured and didn’t feel off like other plant based cheeses. Overall I am as satisfied as I could be. Next time around I will definitely add an appetizer to compliment the incredible meal I had. 10/10 service I forgot to mention!

The service is mediocre as I felt we were being rushed and she was not very friendly like a host should be. The food taste nasty there was a hair in my food lost my appetite instantly. Would not recommend. I am actually very disappointed as I expected greatness they need real authentic Italian chefs in the kitchen we should have know the food was awful because it was soooo empty in the restaurant. My drink was amazing though off the cocktail menu.

What happened to this place? I’m not necessarily comparing about the food but this place is run down and lacking in so many ways. The entrance was a mess, covid screen not installed and just stacked up, no hostess to be found. The seats are worn down and cracked. And the plate I was served my food on was just gross. I used to come here and love this place but it just seems to have been forgotten. If I’m paying 25$ for a plate of pasta I’d like it served on a clean plate.

Last night I had one of the most disappointing dining experiences I can remember. I was part of a group of twenty-six who reserved well ahead for a six o'clock time. When we arrived the establishment did not appear to be busy at all. Accordingly we expected to be served in a reasonable amount of time. That did not turn out to be the case. A few members of our group received their order an hour later. Many of us were still waiting after eight o'clock. When one our our group expressed his concern to the manager he was simply told he could leave which he did. While we waited for our food we observed several groups who arrived after us and were served main courses desserts and beverages and left before we were even served. My meal arrived at eight forty and some others were even later. Most of us cancelled orders for desert and tea and coffee. Well after nine our dishes were not even cleared from the tables. Initially we received our bills which were replaced by a second bill with a "promo" discount. However, a "tip" of eighteen per cent was still added to our bills. What was most distressing was the lack of concern displayed by staff. I can understand the pressure of staffing shortages. However, limiting the number of patrons to the number which could be accommodated would ease the problem. My meal was quite good but very pricey and not substantial. To complete my evening I had dessert at home after ten o'clock because I was still hungry. I will not be returning to this restaurant in the future. I can find food of equality with better service for less elsewhere. I can not imagine not being concerned about having twenty-six unhappy customers leave a restaurant. but that appears to be the case.

Amazing pasta and I believe they are made to order! The meat ball appetizer is fantastic, and and I had their true Italian style carbonara is heaven! So good!
