My kids love the school. As a parent I'm very happy how it's run. The staff is great and friendly and the owner is very approachable and helpful person. Highly recommend it. Fantastic.

This is an outstanding dojo. I’m so fortunate to have trained there for many years. The quality of instruction is outstanding - it’s not just one or two instructors but the entire teaching team, led by Kyoshi Tony LaSelva. The classes are designed with the student in mind. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, young or old, male or female, Northern Karate has the right program for you.

My son goes here and he is thrilled about it. Sometime the classes get too busy and crowded but they are good in terms of adding more instructors to control the class. We love that we have several options in the schedule to attend in the week.

Our young kids have trained here for seven months. I unreservedly recommend this school. Typically we attend weekend classes which will have about 20 to 30 young kids (maybe a 60:40 boy:girl ratio) being taught by a steady stable of minimum 4, but more typically 5 black belt instructors (male and female). The instruction is VERY age appropriate. A good blend of fun, basics and kata. At our kids entry belt levels obviously only a light focus on sparring and only minimal weapons. The caliber of instruction is excellent. Vastly superior instruction to what I experienced as a child. The facility is excellent - spacious and it has a massive (sparkling clean) glass wall with rows of seating for 30+ parents to watch the class - training floor is fully matted. Facility is kept very clean. While not inexpensive, I fully believe we are getting good value in return for the fees (uniform and gradings are baked into the fee). While perfection is hard to achieve, this school comes very close. Thank you Northern Karate.

Hhmmm not sure where my honest review went? Oh well I will just write another. Horrible owners! Liars, money hungry, they advertise that they will teach your child anti bullying classes 🤣 they don't! Once they get your money they tell you first bring a friend to join and then you get the classes. Senses with nasty attitudes are not dealt with but instead made excuses for! If I could give it less than 1 star I could.

After over 35 years of training, I have found the Dojo of my dream. Great leaders, great instructors. Friendly, knowledgeable and the environment that I can trust with my kids and loved ones.

Ive been a martial artist for over 25 years and the NKS family is just the most incredible place to be. My tenure at Richmond Hill has not only been an extremely positive experience, it has also been such a benefit to both my martial arts training and it has the most welcoming feeling when you enter the dojo. The staff are amazing, the students who train are like minded and overall everyone wishes to lift each other up every class!

The instructors are great and the programs are designed to be fun and engaging for people of all ages and skill levels.

Excellent teachers and the facility is great. My 6 year old son has been going there for 6 months now and loves it. Especially the beginners white belt he loved going to it every day. The yellow belt is larger class so a bit challenging for some kids to keep the interest up...but highly recommend making the most of monthly review sessions (one-on-one) with the instructors. It keeps the morale high and progress in check.....so that the kid doesn't get lost in the crowd.

Starting karate changed my life! It gave me the stability, discipline, and camaraderie I needed. The owners and senior instructors have such an immense amount of knowledge and experience in different martial arts disciplines and it is very clear they know what they're talking about. The students I train with are also awesome (youth/adults). They even have many senior black belt students who have been training there for over 15 years, and that speaks volumes to the quality training we receive at NKS Richmond Hill. Not only do they have regular classes, but they also offer kumite (sparring), Budo Bliss®️, Cardio Combat®, and special prep classes for kids getting ready for their black belt grading. Awesome dojo and awesome people who are passionate about helping others become the best person they can be!!

I have been attending NKS for 11 years now and in that time it has boosted my confidence, allowed me to learn valuable skills, as well as meet so many amazing people. So many memories have been created in this dojo with learnings I will continue to use for the rest of my life. They really do create a second home environment and am so proud and thankful to be part of this community.

I wish I could give a 10 star rating! My family (including me, wife, little one and my cousin) all training with Northern Karate school and we’ve enjoyed and learnt a LOT! All the instructors are very experienced in junior and adult class. They have tremendous patience and knowledge in martial arts discipline and self defence technique. The owner and senior instructors treat everyone like family. Many black belt Sensei and Senpai been training in here for over 20 years which also speak the quality of the school. kids training here all look confident and disciplined. This is the best place for you and your family if you want to reach your PERSONAL BEST! Awesome dojo and amazing people!
