We went to the Big Rig on a Thursday evening and it was pretty empty inside so we got seated quickly. It is considered a sports bar so there were multiple TV screens playing soccer. It was pretty loud in there so it’s not recommended for a place to quietly chat. We got the mac and cheese, fried calamari and a flight of beer. The mac and cheese is made with their homemade sauce and some bread crumbs on top. It was honestly very creamy and something I would get again. The calamari was not crispy but the squid was soft and chewy, I still liked it but I expected it to be crispy. The beer was pretty interesting, they make them in house since it is a brewery. The flight was only $7.50 which is an insane cost to sample 4 different beers. Keep in mind they are quite small but a fun way to try homemade alcohol. Overall, I didn’t expect much but it exceeded my expectations. The waiters were efficient and kind. I would come here again!

Not impressed with this establishment. The food was pretty bad. Service is fine and the beers are good as well. Had the Southern fried chicken and it was the worse one I tried. My wife had the fish tacos and they were fine.

Rubber soggy fish, extremely overcooked...fries soggy and 2 tons of salt, the coleslaw is dryer than the Sahara. The meat is more fat that anything, the servers are rude, ignorant, and fight over who's taking orders. Our server that we finally got was nice and disappointed that our food was not good

This was our first time here and overall, it was a good experience. Service was good and our server, Leila, was very nice. For drinks, We had a rum and Coke, a virgin cranberry drink, and the beer sampler. The cranberry drink was ok. A little too sour and watery. The beer sampler was not bad. Our main course was the Honey Bee Burger and the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich. The burger was good but hard to eat as it is quite a thick burger. The “smoked meat” was not the OG smoked meat. It was pastrami. It tasted good, but if you’re going to call something smoked meat, you should clarify that it is smoked pastrami. Food was reasonably priced. I would recommend and would perhaps go back. We had the Montreal style all dressed pizza the last time we were here and it was good, but not like the true authentic Montreal pizza. Give them a try.

Spacious restaurant, good vibes, friendly service, good drink prices, large food portions. Was $7.50 for the 4 cup sampler and $11.50 for a stein

Always wanted to try this place. Finally got a chance to visit it on a Saturday evening. The place is very spacious and comfortable. The servers were super nice and helpful with menu questions and tweaks. We got the chicken wings to start which were very juice and flavourable. I got the Cobb salad which was very good and my girlfriend ordered the fish tacos on lettuce boats- which she did not like at all and the lettuce was wilted in places. We stayed and had a couple drinks and watched some football. I would come back for sports and drinks for sure.

Came by for dinner and didn't have the best experience though we appreciate the manager's efforts to turn things around. The service was quite slow and we had to flag staff for water and to follow up on our food since it was taking so long. We ordered spicy honey garlic wings, nachos with smoked meat, pork belly sliders, and a couple martinis. The food was taking really long (30+ min) and when we finally flagged our server down, she told us the kitchen had actually burnt the first batch of nachos and the food would be out soon. when it arrived, they had given us beef brisket nachos instead of smoked meat. She offered to replace it but we were already really hungry and didn't want the whole thing to go to waste. Unfortunately the brisket was super stringy and shredded with the grain, instead of being chopped up so it was tough. The wings were decent but not very spicy. The pork belly sliders were definitely the best pick. The manager noticed we didn't finish the nachos and ended up asking our server about it to find out we had received the wrong protein so he was very kind to comp us that dish and sent over a coconut pie. Coconut pie was too sweet for my palate but we appreciated the gesture. I'd suggest staff be trained on these customer service remedies rather than leaving it to managers to notice it. Overall, an ok spot that has some hit or miss food and service. If not for the manager I would've ruled out coming back but I'd consider it if in the area and looking for bar food.

This is probably my favourite place to come to in Richmond Hill currently. They offer a wide range of cuisine at reasonable prices. The portions here are MASSIVE and they have great service. Big Rig also has a fully rain proof patio for outdoor dining and a very spacious interior! I would highly recommend getting the beer braised pork shank or the beer braised beef ribs if you are hungry. Even the biggest eaters will leave satisfied!

I went with some friends for dinner and we all had a great time. There is both indoor and outdoor seating along with ample parking in the lot. Cobb salad had good variety of toppings and the pork belly sliders were cooked well.

Visited on Thursday, November 4 at 6PM for Dine-In Arriving right after work the place was extremely empty but it filled up quite quickly. Look at me forgetting to take interior decor pictures. But the restaurant was extremely clean, very spacious, and did have a very nice atmosphere - casual and relaxing but good themeing. Plenty of tables and lots of space. The bar is also quite big and spacious which was very nice. Service was great. No complaints. Super kind and attentive. This restaurant does smoked meats best so that's what we decided to try. I got the brisket, with coleslaw and French fries, I was curious about the Mac and cheese as well. We also had Nachos with smoked Montreal meat and a Philly Cheese pizza. I know sounds like a lotta food but we like leftovers. Yes. If you come here order anything from their smokehouse. This is what they do well. The meat was falling apart, so soft and tender.... and the sauce....ugh so good. I ate it so slowly cause I wanted to savour it. The fries were small and well seasoned. The coleslaw was good, a bit watery but nothing to write home about. Honestly. Skip the Mac and Cheese. Unless it's for your picky eater child. I got just plain Mac and cheese and it was not impressive, nothing to write home about which was kinda disappointing. The nachos were also very good. And although I did not take a bite of the pizza.... there was so much cheese on it. It looked AMAZING. I'd probably even come here for pizza. Definitely a good place for a date or just a hang. Good vibes. Their menu had a little bit of everything including a small international section which I thought was questionable.... Apps. Soups. Salads. Burgers. Steaks. Chicken. Ribs. It was a fairly big menu that can be overwhelming. But why is there no corn bread lol Will definitely come back to try and pizza and perhaps the wings.

A very large restaurant/bar in the Richmond Hill complex. The restaurant is divided into 2 balcony areas - sitting outside or inside. The restaurant is very well decorated with lots of TV screens showing sports. Very pleasant background music, good smell of food everywhere in the restaurant. A very varied menu of different dishes. in very large and tasty portions. Courteous service from the waiters. Fun atmosphere in the place and a good dessert menu.

Came in a party of 5 at 5pm on a Sunday. Not our first time here, the place was mostly empty. I recommend sticking to the beef dishes - other dishes are good, but the burgers are very good. Ingredients are fresh and well made, portions are large (well, except the Korean Salmon perhaps). Service had a few mistakes, but the place holds itself to the highest standard and they regained my appreciation (and tip :) ). It's noteworthy that I didn't have to speak up - they identify and rectified their mistakes on their own. I highly recommend the Caramel Cheesecake for desert As I said, I've been here before and will keep coming.

We booked a table of 8 to celebrate our Friends birthday but the experience was disappointing. Food quality for most of the foods we ordered was not good. The Fries was not fresh at all and it seems that is was heated again. The Pizza and Burger was mediocare, you can have better steak somewhere else. The only dish that we liked was the smoked brisket. Beer quality was good though. Service was super slow although the restaurant was not that busy.

Service was good as we were a party of 10 but the food was subpar compared to many restaurants. Breads on sandwiches was soggy, chicken on many was bland with not much texture. Fries was ok. Fish was mediocre. Everything really was very bland and not worth the price they charge. Will not be going back and not a place we can recommend. Foods we ordered as a group, Fish&chips, big captain chicken, big rig club, brisket & fries, wings, coleslaw salad.

I was pleasantly surprised with everything about this joint. The food was great, the portions were huge and the prices were super reasonable. They have a great assortment of beers and I got the tasting menu and got to have a taste of my top four choices. The service was fast and our waitress was super sweet! I definitely would visit again to try some other tasty looking things on their menu.

Good variety of crafted beers, recommend to start with sample tray. Each of them are unique and matching the description on the menu. the food was very good, absolutely delicious. The service was pretty slow, I believe they were understaffed but we enjoyed our time and food anyway.

This brewery offers a fantastic experience with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The food is delicious, offering a variety of tasty options that pair well with their fine selection of beers. Speaking of beers, they have a great range of brews to choose from, catering to different tastes. Whether you prefer a hoppy IPA or a smooth lager, you're likely to find something to satisfy your palate. It's a great spot to enjoy good food and fine beers in a pleasant setting

Came here yesterday for dinner and it was pretty empty so I can’t speak to the service when it is busy. One thing I did like was how spaced out the restaurant was and our waitress was very friendly. Our food came quickly and it was very tasty! I ordered the smoked brisket and it was so delicious and tender. They gave me a huge pile of fries on top of that which was great. My only complaint is that I had coleslaw as my second side and it was a very sad amount; especially compared to the amount of fries. I get it, potatoes are a lot cheaper than cabbage, but still.

Very disappointing food and service. After we were served the food, no one actually came to ask us how we were doing or how the food was. (Someone did ask after an hour but by then it was too late to express our displeasure.) Tip: Don't order the Pork Belly Melt. It's a sad thin sandwich that you can easily make at home with white bread. The "pork belly" was hard and tasted like cheap bacon. The Smoked Meatloaf Stack was a tiny portion and incredibly dry and tasteless. The Philly Steak Pizza barely had any steak in it. It tasted like a vegetarian pizza. The photos of the food on the menu look incredible but it's nothing like what you actually receive on the table. Very misleading and underwhelming. Good job to the food stylist/photographer though!

What I like most about this bar is the presence of various in-house beers of many types, such that it’s palatable to every beer-loving person. As a person who likes darker beer, I have not been disappointed by their choices here which they serve at market prices. As for the food, the prices are on the steeper side with main dishes averaging around $20/dish. Fortunately, the drinks and are priced much more reasonably. With friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere for both outdoor and indoor, Big Rig Brewery is my go-to spot in the Richmond Hill/Markham area for any in-house beers.

Pretty good place, better than I expected. The beef brisket, pulled pork were winners. The coleslaw was good too, wings and steak were also a favourite. We also got a pizza, we were happy with it. Service was awesome, some members of our party had specific requests on the seating arrangement and our attendant was quite flexible and accommodating. I would definitely return!

Lovely staff, awesome space, great food. The portions are huge. Their poutine with brisket is so good. They don't skimp on the gravy or the meat. The brisket is slow cooked and so soft. Gravy is flavorful. The curds have the nice squeaky sound when you bite into it. Their fish tacos are huge and well cooked. The pork belly sliders are juicy and very flavorful. The house chicken club isn't bad! Comes with a huge bowl of fries and coleslaw. The waitress was so nice and fun. Definitely check this place out.

This is your average bar with meh food to be honest. We tried their pizza, poutine, burgers and brisket and the best thing were the brisket. The other foods were just average. We tried a few of their beer on tap and those were pretty good! The entire experience was nothing to write home about though....

Although I would like to recommend the smoked brisket, the overall food quality was subpar. The restaurant was severely understaffed, resulting in an excruciatingly slow service. However, the server was courteous. Despite my request for super crispy fries, they disregarded it and removed the price of the fries from our bill.

Had a good experience dining here! Their Big Boot beer was really good! Ordered Nachos and Sweet Potato fries. The potion size was sumptuous for four of us!! Had mentioned to our waitress that we weee vegetarian. She brought us bacon mayo along with fries and when requested again, she kindly swapped it with sour cream!! The beer tasted good and could have been chiller. Will sure visit again

Great place to chill with friends or family. Tastefully decorated, big Space, easy parking outside, has a good patio space. Offers $8 Beer Flights, you get to choose 4 types of beer (makes for 1 pint) and order the one you like after, or keep doing flights. Pizza tasted good, tacos are great (filling tastes great, except for the shell. Doesn't taste Mexican though, more a fusion, but tastes good). Slightly on the expensive side. Expect to pay $40 per person with a food item and a Drink.

Isomi made me the best caramel cheesecake with ice cream, this is off the menu. You got to ask for it and you have to see the colours on the salad. This is not a filter. Christina was our bar tender best conversations. Ari was the best welcoming and friendly person I was in a while.

Came here late night on a Sunday to watch the game. It wasn’t very busy. Staff were friendly! The portions were big but the food was mediocre. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich (Pulled pork wasn’t bad but the bun was bland), the classic burger (stacked high but lacked flavour), and the pork belly glaze burger (the best of the three). The fries were somewhat crispy but we had to add more salt. Overall, not terrible but I’d probably go for a different restaurant in the plaza next time. Or opt for something else on the menu.

I've been here a good number of times now, and it seems like each time, I like it a little less. This visit was on a Thursday evening, around 5:30 pm, so it really wasn't all too busy. More and more people strolled in as time went by, but considering how spacious this restaurant is, it wasn't even half full. As a result, you'd expect the kitchen to be a little quicker and service to be better. Unfortunately, service was lacking - our server was polite but we had to ask multiple times for the same thing (i.e. chilli flakes for our pizza); for the entire duration of our meal no one checked in on us; no water refills (which was disappointing since their glasses are very small, maybe 8-10 fl oz?); and to top it all off, at the end of our meal, the payment machine was out of battery (first I've ever experienced this) which delayed us leaving (as we ended up being tight on time since service was slow). All in all, I don't feel we were expecting much, but truthfully, for a place of this price point, the expectations for service are higher and our experience just didn't meet that. Now onto the food. I always recommend the MAC N' CHEESE but make sure to add MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT! We've had this dish just about every time we visit and it never disappoints. Now, knowing that we love their Montreal smoked meat, we decided to give their SMOKED MEAT PIZZA a try. I find it the oddest thing that when you inquire about their pizza sizes, they respond with "the small is 4 slices, the medium is 6, and the large is 8". Usually the standard answer is in inches because realistically, you can slice a pie any way you want... Also, we got the medium which came out as 8 slices. LOL. Anyway, this pizza was topped with Smoked meat, green peppers, onions, banana peppers, and crunchy mustard. I'm normally not a fan of mustard but the one on here was okay for me personally. The toppings all complemented each other well and I enjoyed the slight heat. The dish I had ordered for myself was their ROAST BEEF SANDWICH. There was an abundance of shaved beef, paired with a good amount of provolone cheese which was delicious. Topping this sandwich off with caramelized onions, green peppers, and mushrooms was also a good call for added flavor and veggies. However, I personally could have done without the steak sauce - it was very BBQ-like and overpowered the natural flavor of the meat as well as the other components of the sandwich. Lastly, this was all on ciabatta bread - I loved how soft and airy the bread was, but could have been way toastier. It was also unfortunate that the server spilled a bunch of my au jus on the way from the kitchen to the table, so the bottom bun was soggy when I went to eat it. If you're looking for a good beer selection though, this is your place. Cleanliness of this place was also subpar. We actually requested to move down a booth since the table right behind us was very loud and there was tons of seating in the restaurant. We found that both benches of both booths were heavily coated in crumbs. For a family of four, we spent $120+ and I just felt you could have a way better experience elsewhere.

I was hoping to leave a new review, but Google will only let me edit my previous one... this place deserves 5 stars. I've had the pleasure of visiting Big Rig Brewery in Richmond Hill on numerous occasions and I have to say that the experience always exceeds my expectations. My son and I meet regularly (most Saturdays) and from the moment we walk through the doors, we are always greeted with warm and welcoming hello's by two exceptional staff members, Christina and Josie. In addition to their exceptional service, Christina and Josie also have an incredible knack for creating a friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Their warm personalities and engaging conversations add an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. It's evident that they genuinely care about the satisfaction of their guests. As for the beer itself, Big Rig boasts an impressive selection of craft brews, each with its own distinct flavour profile. Whether you're a hophead or prefer a lighter ale, there's something to please every beer lover's palate. I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to Big Rig and experiencing the exceptional beer, great food and fantastic service firsthand.

Tried Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery tonight for the first time and was not disappointed! The food was tasty and a few people in our party ordered the beer flights which they were quite impressed with. Good beer and at a very reasonable price, too. I ordered the Whiskey Peach Tea cocktail (I'm not much of a beer drinker) and I really enjoyed it. All the food we ordered was delicious. We shared the barbecue platter, which is reccomomend for three people but is a LOT of food. I especially loved the prime rib. The restaurant was clearly quite busy but our server came by multiple times to check on us to make sure we were doing okay which I appreciate. All in all, we will definitely be back!

Big Rig is our new favourite spot, we’ve been a handful of times over the past few months and now it’s our go to and a place we like to show our friends and family. Jamie plays the best music and is such a personable server and Ari is phenomenal, his customer service is unparalleled. The food is absolutely amazing, we’ve tried so many different options and absolutely nothing has disappointed us. The flights are awesome and the beer knowledge and pairings is great. We look forward to visiting big rig next time and introducing more of our friends and family to this awesome place !

I was here on business trip and was looking for a fun place to eat. The Big Rig had plenty of good reviews so we decided to go here. The food was good, great proportions, and overall quality was really enjoyable. The beer taster is what really made out night! Having to try so many beers without buying pint after pint was awesome. They server was amazing at recommending flavours that definitely suited us. If I ever am back into the area I will definitely come back! 5 Stars hands down.

Update: we came back today and ordered a Montreal style pizza that has nothing to do with Montreal and a brisket that was dryer and tougher than a tire. Not impressed hence revising my review to 3 stars instead of 5. We went there for lunch Saturday. It was quiet. The beer was really good and the cheese curds were the highlight of the meal. Overall a great experience.

Visited Big Rig last night. We really enjoyed the buffalo chicken pizza . It was absolutely delicious! We were so glad Josie our super friendly waitress recommended it to us. She also recommended the alpha bomb a American ipa as we prefer hoppy beers, and it was also satisfying. This restaurant doesn’t disappoint with its diverse menu of Montreal style pizza, smokehouse and long list of other entrees. Located in a restaurant mall with ample parking makes this a easy spot to get out to. Look forward to future visits! The staff here is always pleasant and attentive.

It was our first time trying out Big Rig, we've only ordered Smoked Brisket(0.5 lb - $23) with Slaw and mashed Sweet Potato as sides, Jambalaya($27) and its brewed beer Hazy Four. (see the picture attached) The brisket was boldly flavored but we expected the meat to be more tender as it was "smoked low and slow for 12 hours" (stated on the menu). As for the Jambalaya, the taste was ok; however, for the price of $27, the portion and presentation are yet to be improved. Lastly, we liked the tangy fruity aroma of the Hazy Four, it was quite a refreshing finish for the supper.

Food is more on the expensive side and very slow to be served but the food was decent. By the time the food arrived, it was rather cold… but the drinks were good and well priced. Beer flight is only $7.50 and pints too. They brew a lot of good beer themselves. They have a fully covered patio which I enjoyed very much. Good for super windy or wet weather!! Will visit again!!

We were seated and not assigned a server. Waited around for a bit and then got server by a gentleman who I believe was a supervisor or manager? A great place to try beers. They have a 2$ taster option which is great for people who want to try different beers but not commit to a whole pint. Our table of 5 got two pitchers of the gold and something else. (Server said the second one tasted like corona) For food I got the poutine with the Montreal smoked meat. A large poutine for sure, gravy was great and so was the fries. However, with the smoked meat, I understand that it has to be salted but it was coming to the point where each bite was just SALT. I ate half and left the rest. Atmosphere is nice, a bar vibe but better for 18+. I saw large groups gathering in different sections and the COVID bylaws at the time were being enforced. Washrooms were clean but very dark. Outdoor seating was still available too, they got heaters for you if your feeling cold.
