Great spot to stop for the night. Newboro has the store Kilborn's which can be good for a couple hours of perusing. There are not many spots with power for boats so get there early. The power is on the high side. Narrows side. Also Stirling Lodge is a must for a bite to eat.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Newboro Lift Lock and exploring the nearby historic Block House. It was an absolute delight and a trip I won't soon forget! The Newboro Lift Lock, with its remarkable engineering and captivating history, left me in awe. The sheer ingenuity behind this feat of engineering is truly remarkable. Watching the boats gracefully rise and descend through the lock was a fascinating experience, and I couldn't help but appreciate the skill and precision required to operate it. As we ventured further, we explored the historic Block House, which offered a fascinating glimpse into the past. Walking through its rooms and corridors, I felt transported to a different era. The well-preserved artifacts and informative displays painted a vivid picture of the people who once inhabited this place, and I found myself captivated by their stories. The overall ambiance of the Newboro Lift Lock and Block House was serene and peaceful, making it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The surrounding natural beauty, with its tranquil waters and lush greenery, added to the charm of the experience. It was a perfect blend of history, engineering marvel, and natural splendor. The staff at both sites were friendly and knowledgeable, readily sharing their expertise and answering any questions we had. Their passion for the history and significance of these landmarks was evident, enhancing our visit and making it even more enjoyable. Whether you're a history buff, a lover of architecture, or simply looking to soak in the beauty of the surroundings, I highly recommend a visit to the Newboro Lift Lock and the historic Block House. It's a journey that will leave you with a deep appreciation for the ingenuity of the past and the enduring beauty of the present.

One of the things I liked about this loch station, is the ability to wash ones hair in the washroom area using the low basins. Just be courteous and don't make a mess/clean up after yourself. Nice place to camp overnight if you don't need an electrical hook up. The washrooms are accessible. Bring bug spray like other places on Rideau. Quiet spot.

Beautiful! Great spot for kayaking either above the locks on the narrow channel or below the locks around the Marina near the town. Restaurant options. One of 3 locks we found that would deliver groceries (see photo).

Really neat place to take a stroll by the water and watch the locks work! Great for bringing kids to show them how these canal systems work. They have facilities available on site as well as picnic tables and ample of parking.

Love Canada. I've been a yearly visiter for 30 years now. People are great, fishing top notch and depending on where you stay, will clean your daily catch for dinner.

Nice lock station with washrooms, BBQs and you can even pitch a tent if you are travling down the canal.
