We booked the double room with an ocean view after a great experience in London, followed by another Selina in Athens. To put it bluntly, we wouldn’t stay here again and if you’re a couple, I’d defo recommend looking elsewhere. We liked: - location convenient, opposite the beach. - Selina’s colourful vibe is always a nice touch. - the room was quiet, great during sleeping hours. - the shop, bought a few shirts from a local seller. - generally clean throughout. - really good Wifi We disliked: - Breakfast. There is no flexibility on changing anything in your breakfast which I can understand on occasion, but when asking to exchange the special cheesy bread of option 1 to just normal bread, we were told that’s not possible (lol?). The only option offered was to remove bits without replacing. Bearing in mind, we paid for this and ended up having to pay extra for the small bits. Really poor customer service. - drain smell in our room, coming from the bathroom. - paid for a double bed and got 2 singles pushed together that wasn’t comfortable as a couple. - some staff members that just didn’t care enough to give regular service. We understand that Selina is a hostel and not a hotel. But for the price, we definitely expected better. Based on the above and overall experience here, we left with a bitter taste.

I used to love staying at this Selina but it has quickly gotten so much worse over the past year. The slow elevators and the unwillingness to hold your luggage until checkin is the least of the problems. The staff makes you feel like you are bothering them every time you have to associate with them and they like to make things difficult for no reason just because that’s their character. Rude and unhelpful staff including the “manager” Julio who refused to give me corporate’s number.

It's one of the worst selina i have ever stayed in. Cons: - really loud because if the beach partyes - rooms are incredibly small, absolutly no place to leave your luggage - 0 spaces for hanging out, everybody is sitting on the floor in the kitchen in oder to socialize - a street level restaurant that is overpriced with bad food - a rooftop bar that charges money for selina guests in order to enter - s**t management that is trying to rip you off. 200$/night/bed in a dorm,3 nights , hostel is half empty and when i asked for a refund because some people of my group couldn't make it, their answer was 'sorry, we just need the money, we can't help you'. Also management doesnt speak english, they used somebody to translate Pros: - 'ocean view'

Love every second of my stay. Got 602 room with view to Copacabana. Wow what a vibe. Service was excellent too. They plan also a lot of activities every day so if you come alone you will have an entire crowd to hang out already :)

Not worth the ocean view. The rooms are hot and unbearable. You wont be able to sleep. The bathroom is dirty. There were little bugs in my sheets. We were always out of toilet paper and the trash bin for used papers was always full. I was in a shared room so perhaps the private ones are cold and actually good. Service is okay. I will not be coming back here. Thoroughly dissapointed by this Selina location.

The place is ok, safe inside the hostel. The room has floor unfinished, the aircon is not cooling the air… the staff friendly but take too long for the check in. They change the bedsheets every three days. Not tv in the room… I really think one of the ugliest room super dark… toilet door didn’t close…

As an avid traveler this was such a disappointing experience. We stayed at Selina Copacabana for 2 weeks and we had high expectations and were excited from all the marketing. But the service was so poor! It felt like every 3 days we had to spend 1-2 hours at reception asking for services/inclusions we had already paid for - e.g. we booked breakfast and when we went there we were told we're not on the list and had to spend 1.5 hours to get it fixed. e.g. booked a co-working space (which you have to pay extra for) - was told it wasn't available anymore even though I had meetings scheduled. I've stayed in everything from nice hotels to sketchy hostages, but this experience will go down as one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I am not sure if every Selina is like this or if we were just unlucky but for a brand that spans across multiple countries and prides itself on being a reliable environment for people working remotely, they are remarkably inadequate.

Rude staff. Feels like you’re bothering them every time you have to associate with them. That includes the manager “Julio” who refused to give me the corporate’s number. Not worth the price of the rooms. Only good thing is the location which is sad to say.

I would avoid this Selina. The one in Sao Paulo stole 620 BRLs from my private room, in which I was alone. This one I had another private and the A/C barely worked, they lost very urgent mail that I had delivered there, and after leaving but trying to get more mail and going in person, calling on multiple days, etc., no response. Stay away from this selina.

I loved it, the location is amazing. I was scared because there was reviews saying the service team were not helpful, but on the contrary, they helped me a lot and were always kind. The servers at the breakfast place were also kind and tried their best to help me even when they didn't understand other than portuguese. Overall I had a great experience but the cleaning could be better for rooms due to the sand always being in the shared rooms.

This is the worst hostel I’ve ever been to, the staff doesn’t care about you at all with very bad attitude. They only give a bedsheet and when one staff agreed to give me a blanket but never got back to me, when I went down the other staff wanted to charge me for it with a very bad attitude. When I had problem with my room they also wanted me to go up and down several times instead of just offer to come with me to check on it. The staff here is lazy, rude and incompetent. I will never come back here.

Its an amazing place with the perfect view of the beach you can imagine. On a normal, sunny day, you can enjoy the beach to its fullest as well as there are a lot of mountains nearby that'd be suitable to your trekking palate. A rainy day is not desirable to explore the area but its a beautiful view regardless as you can see the mountains kissing the clouds....as if you'd be wrapped around in them if you were on the top of the peak!

I’ve got a private room for 300£ for 3 nights the aircon wasn’t working and the windows were not closing properly. Also the towels were ripped and with holes. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, however the staff serving breakfast and top floor bar was grumpy.

Great location, right next to the beach with plenty of restaurants and bars. Felt really safe the whole time. Friendly atmosphere and staff. The breakfast was really nice too. We had a private room for 4 which was comfortable and super clean, but it did get extremely hot on top bunk bed.

Honestly one of the worst Selina's I've been to. Dirty, lockers not well placed & don't open all the way on any bed. Receptionist responded to my portuguese with Spanish. ATM fee is 2x the fees outside. No common areas beyond work one (10$ USD per day) and a small kitchen. No events or encouraging of travelers to meet. Overpriced (over 2x and sometimes up to 5x) excursions and/or transfers. Only good thing is the location, but there are other hostels in Copacabana & Ipanema that won't bend you over for 20$+ a night and give better vibes.

I've stayed in 10 Selinas and the one in Copacabana was the best experience. Even though the hotel and restaurant were full, the staff never let on how busy they were. DJ, Alexa, Julio and Julio were amazing and I can say the same about the cleaning staff and the restaurant team (I ordered the vegan breakfast and it was perfect). I stayed in a micro room with a beautiful view of Copacabana beach. I highly recommend the Selina Copa. Congratulations on the work you are doing. I already want to come back. :)
