Incredible, the atmosphere was electrifying, the music, the people, you become part of the music singing with the musicians, this by far was the most enjoyable experience for me in Rio de Janeiro, this small hole in the wall bar beats most places in all of North America. Don't miss this place it should be number 1 on your list of places to go in copacabana.

Interesting and different kind of music venue. Musicians come together to perform at this tiny bar. Luck of the draw on the kind of music that is performed on the night. It was folksy music with flute, guitars and mandolin when I went. Not quite what I was expecting in Rio but it only cost me 31 Reals for the 4 beers and water so not much to complain about. Things kickoff after 9pm at the earliest.

I visited this wonder in 2014 and still dream about it. A truly unique experience to be had in Rio. Grab a drink and listen to musicians come together to make music. My favorite part was the owner, who will shush loud passerby’s to make sure the music is respected. Unforgettable!

A local experience you must have. A small place where locals gather up to play some music (samba) other come to listen to it and have some beer. You have to serve yourself from the fridge and tell the owner who will charge you when you leave. Very Small place. You have to be standing so it’s not very comfortable. But the vibe it’s great and if you wanna really experience Rio you should visit bip bip.

Found this place a very strange experience. Couldn’t get inside to order a drink or get a space to see the music. The crowd was far back from the bar. No clapping allowed. Unless you’re really into this type of music I wouldn’t recommend

My favorite bar in Copacabana. Wonderful musicians play for fun. You can’t applaud because of the neighbors. I met Aldir Blanc and few others famous Brazilian musicians and composers at Bip Bip. Also I had the pleasure to meet the owner of Bip Bip, Mr. Alfredinho. What a nice gentleman.

The very best place to lessen good Brazilian music. This historic little place it's a point of good musicians, also has a very clear political side, left! Founded by Mr. Alfredinho, it's a meeting point of Brazilian musicians who use to improvise classical popular songs. Also is very important to be as much silent is possible.

Love the place, authentic vibe good people there enjoying random jam sessions. The owner passed away in 2019 and they remained the street after him. Nothing fancy but definitely good vibes

Amazing vibe. Self-service bar. Totally rustic and super local. Live local music at random points in the night. Don't let the owner catch you talking during a performance - he'll give you a good talking to. Legend!

Brazilian music in pure form. Be warned, you will be standing in the street, no seating, just watching the bunch of musicians play and sing, you should be silent and no clapping at the end.. you can grab yourself a beer or wine and pay Alfredinho, who is the old man with white long beard sitting outside (unmissable). A unique, spiritual communion with the music and the people is formed as the musicians get more and more in sync. Worth a visit.

Great place! If your are looking for a real Brazilian experience: Bip Bip is your place! Political left side are there too and it’s awesome to see the photos from politicians and personalities! There aren’t food options! Just beer and water. And: if it is a Chorinho night, be quiet! You are not there to talk - just enjoy music. They are very demand on silence for the Chorinho session.

Very wholesome and traditional and you can tell there is great talent and good vibes, but very little seating, and it is hard to hear the band! It’s hard to believe the high ratings of this place when you can barely hear! They need some microphones and speakers and better special arrangement to optimize for acoustics. Also BRING CASH if you are foreign, because they don’t accept credit cards.

Fantastic place to listen to local musicians sing samba and chorinho. I loved it every time I went and was able to buy cheap beer or bring your own from a different store near by. No clapping allowed but you can snap your fingers in appreciation. I will miss the presence of the owner Alfredinho. RIP.

Charming little hole in the wall where local musicians come to play and have a good time. The place is so small you stand on the sidewalk with others enjoying the music and swinging to the beat. I wish I spoke Portuguese so I could sing along, it really doesn't matter because the music and energy are international.

A traditional samba place that you can't sing loud and you can't clap. No one will serve you. You serve yourself. No cards accepted. Grumpy owner but loved one. It's just an unique place. Must go. Only open for evening. Best days are Thursday to Sundays. But Mondays are also good. No chairs and no tables. No food served. Just samba and beer.

Came in one very rainy Tuesday evening. It was very intimate, romantic, and low-key (I'm sure it's different on a Saturday night!).
