It was our "local" while we stayed in Santa Teresa for a week. The historic room is spectacular. Well preserved. This place is hopping busy in the evenings, mostly with locals. We loved how they still use the gorgeous old ice box. Limited food. Great character filled bar.

Probably my favourite bar in Rio. The beautiful old building had been nicely looked after, with many of the original fittings and furnishings still in place. The bolinhos mistos are amazing. Drink the icy cold beers out on the sidewalk and don't forget to order the batida gengibre. Note: most people know this place as 'Bar do Gomes' despite the owner's best efforts!

The waiter was super nice! Ice cold beer. 600ml for 10 rs. Tasty caipirinha for 13 rs. The bolinhos are delicious and cooked to order. 2 bolinhos for 17 rs, but they are high quality, unlike the ones you get on the street that sit in a glass case all day. We had the carne asada one and the indian bolinho (shrimp, mango, and curry). Nice ambiance.

Decent selection of wine by by the bottle and well priced (generally I found many bars in Rio had a pretty poor and overpriced wine selection).
