One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Highly competent stuff with wonderful manners and good style. This hotel was the first of its kind at Copacabana beach and around the hotel - can dentist recommend the in-house restaurant close to the beautiful pool!

Beautiful hotel. Excellent location right on Cococabana Beach. We had a suit overlooking the pool and the ocean. The bed was very comfortable. Service was very friendly and all staff we encountered were very nice. We tried various restaurants at the hotel and all were fantastic.

Great stay. Beautiful hotel with a few good dining options. Very cool tennis court on 3rd level. Rates changed a lot so we lost out by booking early. Staff was very helpful. Area is crowded and loud outside. Felt safe enough for us but we were warned about people stealing phones. Felt like good value. Breakfast was great and it is in a good location. Our room was large.

To say this is one of the finest hotels on the planet would not be hyperbole. The hotel is exquisite and the service impeccable. My brother, sister and I spent 7 days here and none of us wanted to leave! The staff couldn't be any kinder and more attentive, especially Eduardo, one of the bellman! Everyone spoke English and I didn't realize how important this would be until we were there. Mee restaurant is absolutely phenomenal. I will never forget my week at the Copacabana Palace and cannot wait to return!

The best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s an exquisite hotel, the rooms, the staff, the history, the facilities & even the smell. I proposed to my then girlfriend (now fiancé) in Rio and stayed here to celebrate, she’s Brazilian and always wanted to stay here, the staff went above and beyond to make the stay special. Upgraded our rooms to a suite, gave us a whole host of different gifts. It’s hard to put into words just how good this place is. The breakfast is the best I’ve had anywhere in the world and the Michelin star restaurants on site are fantastic!😍 We’ll be back!

Iconic hotel and after many years living and working in Brazil Copacabana Palace is hands down the best hotel in the country. The food service and views are all amazing of course. However the feeling of old money and elite status when staying in the hotel is umatched and esquiziet bonus when staying here. This is almost my wife and daughters favorite hotel in all of Latin America.

I’ve stayed many times here and always loved it but my last two stays were not great, first of all the pool wasn’t proper clean, you could see bunch of hair floating, lots of sand in the back of it and even bits and pieces of fruits, I’ve complained twice and nothing has changed also the quality of the food at the pool restaurant and at Pergula restaurant is not what used to be. Service in general still great though and the breakfast delicious as always.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel right before Carnival. The rooms are great and very quiet with trip glazed windows. We had a beautiful beach view and the bed and pillows and all room amenities are great. We loved our breakfast every morning with fresh fruit and a huge selection of bakery delights. The concierges are all wonder. Murilo at the front desk was so helpful. And with a late flight out at 10 pm the staff was able to help us secure another room for the day. We ate dinner in the coffee shop and the Michelin rated Asia fusion restaurant and both meals were superb. One of the best Hotels we have stay at worldwide.

Wonderful experience. Went with my wife and we had a great time. Honestly what makes the place special is the service. The rooms are fine but not mind blowing. The staff, restaurant, and location is what makes this place amazing.. The welcoming staff was amazing and remembered us from the moment we checked in to check out. Diego served us at breakfast multiple times and he was wonderful. The pool staff would get us towels and a menu before we could even ask. I would highly recommend this hotel if staying in Copacabana.

We absolutely loved this hotel for our trip to Brazil! The best part of staying here was definitely the staff everyone was so kind and attentive, probably one of the best services we have received at a hotel. Most importantly we felt completely safe during our stay. They literally gifted me a chocolate cake for my birthday & I never even told them it was my birthday. Loved it and I recommend it all the time.

Iconic hotel... and you expect much more than what you get. Main building is old and there is some noise challenges. Poor amenities. No attention to details. Breakfast is great but last table row on the terrasse is almost on the sunbeds of the pool.

That’s the best hotel in Brazil and one of the best in the world. Service is very good and the food at Pérgula restaurant has improved a lot. My only criticism is that we couldn’t order Japanese food (Mee restaurant) in our apartment as we had a beautiful dinning room with amazing views we didn’t want to eat indoors, so we had to order it from different Japanese restaurant in town.

Copacabana Palace in Rio, Brazil Billed as "the crown jewel of the world's most iconic beach," Copacabana Palace might be the most well-known hotel in South America. Since 1923, it's been welcoming guests as diverse as U2, Nelson Mandela, Orson Welles, Walt Disney, and Princess Diana, and its Golden Room has hosted performances by Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, and Sammy Davis Jr. The Copa Ball, held during Carnival, remains a legendary event that attracts celebrities and other VIPs year after year.

Celebrated birthday in Rio de Janeiro at the Copa Palace. This hotel is beyond five stars. Excellent experience from the first moment, we walked in to the last moment, we walked out on departure. Staff were excellent, spoke flow, Eng, extremely helpful, planning, birthday parties, and with any question we had. Fitness area and pool are fantastic. The breakfast is to die for, so many options in the à la menu as well as buffet. People watching is great with so many different Types of people coming and going. Our room was fantastic, upgraded to oceanfront suite, and great accommodation for our young child. Cannot say enough about the hotel and staff who really made this one of a kind experience. We will be returning, hopefully to celebrate New Year’s at this fantastic hotel.

This hotel is lovely. Right in the right place if you want a walk around the beach. The staff are all very friendly and the facility are amazing you've got a bar pool and lots of sunbeds if you just want to chill by the pool. All in all this is a top hotel.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in on all our travels around the world. Well located right opposite the Copacabana Beach. A marvelous building with great facilities, terrific spacious rooms, top food in their restaurants, a lovely pool and very friendly, helpful staff. We really enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely stunning property in the heart of Copacabana. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The property is clean and well-maintained. Large heated outdoor pool with very comfortable lounge chairs. The restaurant provides an excellent breakfast with lots of options for individuals with dietary restrictions.

First and foremost, please fix the right elevator. While the hotel is beautiful and full of history, the reputation of the Belmond brand is bruised following a 2-night stay at the Copacabana Palace. While there were many positives from our trip we also found that there are many areas of improvement for the hotel. Here were the highs and lows. Great things about the hotel: Pool staff is great with setting up chairs and providing food and drink. Detailed check-in provided with a local beverage to welcome us. Hotel is beautiful and full of history. The pool area is stunning. Beds and linens are very comfortable. New TVs in the rooms. Beautiful flowers in the rooms. Breakfast is vast with many options and with high quality foods. Staff is very kind. Issues during our stay: Room staff did not turn down our room either night. Bellman did not open our car doors upon arrival or unload luggage from our vehicle. Concierge/front desk dropped the ball on multiple requests and required follow up. Room staff entered the room without knocking/ringing. No staff walked us to our room. The water in the rooms does not run clear and has a yellow hue. Things that you would expect to be better: Showers have bad water pressure and old shower heads which need updating. There are cosmetic issues throughout the room, including mismatched paint, stained tiles, etc. Chain link fence outside the hotel should be replaced with something that is not an eyesore. Service at MEE was substandard, and we were seated right next to the staff station while there were many open tables in the restaurant. The right elevator rattles and makes some other scary noises when you ride in it. Massage rooms is right next to a road, so you hear vehicles honking and driving during treatments.

It’s a very good hotel and very nice and professional staff. Unfortunately we had a very bad experience with the supervisor at the front desk. We couldn’t get any help when we needed it because we were not members. For the last year we have stayed at Belmond Napasai, Belmond Cataratas, Belmond Copacabana Palace and spend thousands. It destroyed our experience a lot. Two of the nights there were a lot of noise because of renovations and we ask for a new room. The guest relations manager promised to come back but she didn’t do so two nights in a row we almost didn’t get any sleep because of noise. it's a shame that two people are to blame for a super good experience ending up being bad.

This place for sure, breaths history. The modern-classic perfect mixture that brings you mixed very good feelings. Staff is very well trained, the place maintenance is superb, the bed linens were outstanding and the most important, tha CLEALINESS was amazing in every corner. For sure I'll be back asap. Thank you!

Just another 5 star review for this near perfect hotel. Wonderful rooms and amazing service. Worth the spend! My only minor complaint is that it was difficult to get a spa appointment, but otherwise it was a perfect experience.

Rounded up from 4.5 Good: It is a very good hotel - the things I pick out below are nitpicking which wouldn't apply if it weren't so expensive. The best things of an overall very good experience were: Front desk and concierge service is incredibly good - probably the best I've ever experienced and nothing is any trouble for them Pool is really beautiful day and night and kept at a perfect temperature Hotel is beautiful and well located Housekeeping is absolutely top notch Rooms are surprisingly spacious and the beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on Gym is surprisingly well-equipped The general atmosphere is great - chilled out, friendly and safe Average: Poolside service is a bit limited. We sat poolside three times and never got great service. On one occasion we ended up going to the restaurant service desk to ask for drinks and were told someone would be with us soon - took another ten minutes for someone to come, then another ten minutes to bring a soft drink and a cocktail, and the soft drink was wrong. Not the end of the world but at these prices (BRL90 plus tip for those drinks) it's fair to expect better. There's a fair amount of quiet upselling - for example, if you order bottled water and don't specify what kind, expect to be brought the most expensive (rather than the complimentary water which you might expect to be the default). I don't mind that too much but it would be better if the person taking the order clarified first. On a similar note, the hotel's airport transfers are insanely expensive - the airport taxis are a bit of a ripoff and they're 1/3 the price. I would just take an Uber or a taxi instead. (For comparison: airport transfer was BRL465; airport taxi was BRL130; metered taxi was BRL90; Uber was BRL75.) Some room fixtures need some TLC. Eg in 319 the balcony door doesn't close properly; in 419 the shower bidet attachment is coming off the wall. No big problems, it just needs a bit of maintenance attention in the low season. Bad: We stayed both here and at Belmond Hotel des Cataratas in Iguasu. When booking we were advised of the hotels' "Gran Tour Brasil" offering which comes at a higher packaged price with a few perks. The main reason we opted for the package is it gives 20% off food and soft drinks at hotel bars and restaurants, and we thought it would be easier to eat in on a few nights. However, every single time we ordered something, the bill came without the discount included. It's not a massive issue but it gets very annoying to try and explain through broken Portuguese and end up having to go to front desk each time. It should just be applied automatically, or at least staff should be briefed on what it is and how it works (since most of them seemed totally oblivious to it). If another hotel offered the same service and we heard they could actually implement it, we'd stay there instead. We got a "wake up call" at 0850 both days of our second stay despite not ordering one and asking for it to be cancelled. Given we arrived at 0100, this would have been an insanely annoying mistake if the call had been set at 0600 or something!

It’s a very welcoming, beautiful hotel with great ambiance, big swimming pool and amazingly comfortable bed in a nice and specious room. I felt secured and I would love to be back once I am in Rio again. Nicolas de Hemmer and other employees were very helpful. Highly recommended!

Top of the line hotel in beautiful place. This hotel was a true first class experience, from check in to check out and before. Before we even stepped foot in the hotel we asked for reservations to several Michelin star restaurants- and they made them without issue. Once we arrived, they were incredibly helpful with tour reservations and making sure we were comfortable, even though we arrived hours before our check in. The service and facilities were wonderful. Plenty of security, and support planning excursions. Food was amazing. The breakfast is not to be missed. Pool staff was attentive. Concierge was very helpful.

Great experience. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast and service overall. Very accommodating for a special request we made - thank you! Great renewed tennis court. Spacious, comfortable room and bathroom. Nice pool area. Pricey if you think in R$, great deal if your reference are USD or EUR (which seems to be the case for most guests); parking very expensive for local standards - and they park your car on the street! When hotel is full, pool area gets very crowded and disputed. Michelin star Mee restaurant is good but not worth it for the price (especially in R$) - there is better food for less or same price in Rio. If you are a hotel guest can take your wine bottle for free. Tennis court lacks a water fountain. They will bring you water at no cost but it can take long - and you'll surely feel the heat up there. During Christmas they had a very nice choir singing by the pool - staff clearly dedicates to make guests have a great experience. Congrats to management. I'd recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

The Belmond brand is top of the line. We stopped by for lunch and sat poolside in their courtyard which was phenomenal. Highly recommend this hotel for their amenities and restaurant/bar!

Iconic landmark at Copacabana beach. The famous hotel has hosted innumerous Hollywood actors, actresses, rock stars, celebrities, kings and queens, including the late Princess Diana, during the past 99 years. Considered a symbol of glamour and sophistication its architecture was inspired by the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. This hotel is definitely a "must visit" in Rio de Janeiro

Absolutely stunning hotel! I’m a great fan of Belmond worldwide and the Copacabana Palace is a perfect reflection of comfortable, down to earth luxury that makes you feel at home. The facilities are great (the pool is amazing, heated and is perfect even in rainy weather), the spa is great and the food is sublime. Most importantly the staff are very kind and personable, which has made a great difference to my stay. I strongly recommend this hotel for a visit to the marvellous city.

The hotel is 100 years old next year, it has history, it’s classic and classy. The staff is well trained and the most polite and attentive I ever had ( and I’ve traveled a lot) the service is impeccable! We asked to switch rooms due to allergies and they gave us a better suite and also didn’t charge us for the first night. This hotel was on the top of my list and it didn’t disappoint me. I definitely recommend it. Definitely recommend it!

Americans stay away! I stayed at Copacabana with my wife (who’s Brazilian) and the first night we ate there I got the worst food poisoning I’ve had in my entire life. I was in bed for 3 days straight and had to have an emergency doctor come to the room. I’ve stayed at the nicest hotels in London, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, La etc and have never had an experience like this. We were in Rio only 4 days after a long trip in Brazil so I was unable to enjoy the city. When I talked to the manager the only thing he offered was to take care of the meal that got me sick. HA!!!! I should’ve listened to my wife and stayed in Barra or Leblon. I would strongly urge people not to stay here.

I stayed at Copacabana Palace Hotel for four days and three nights. What an amazing hotel. I was greeted with such kindness by a wonderful staff by the name of Eduardo aka the butler and this continued throughout my stay. I booked the apartment and suite, my room was situated on the 1st floor with the ocean view. The room was fantastic. Clean, glamorous with a classic decor and had a fantastic view over Copacabana calçadão. The rooms were spacious, with comfortable high end furniture, can’t complain about this hotel. The gym was great, the rooftop fantastic with black pool and all of the facilities were clean and beautiful. The restaurant located inside the hotel was delicious, highly recommend the grilled octopus! I dined there for breakfast and dinner. Overall had an amazing experience. I have to say the staff – who, by the way, were part of this amazing experience Eduardo the butler and Rogério guardião really went out of their way to make sure everyone got what they needed, whether it was directions, recommendations, or help with their bookings for dinings and many other amenities down to the minimum of details during our stay. If you ever stay at this amazing hotel, I particularly recommend these two staff to service your experience during your stay. Cheers to Rio!

What a gorgeous hotel! The staff is excellent as expected for a Belmond property. Classic architecture and a fantastic location in Copacabana. The drinks are strong, craft cocktails are excellent. The food is delightful. They even made an off menu dish!

A great hotel with so much different aspects to give. Didn't stay there, but I am sure from the external view, it is going to be fabulous inside. The drink at the bar is great with very friendly staff.
