My stay at the Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort was simply exceptional! From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I was treated to world-class service that exceeded all my expectations. First and foremost, the hotel's location is absolutely stunning. Overlooking the beautiful beaches of Rio de Janeiro and nestled amidst lush tropical vegetation, the setting is breathtaking. I could enjoy spectacular panoramic views from my room and while relaxing by the pool. It's a true beachfront paradise.

Absolutely incredible hotel. The rooms are newer and well kept. The beach is essentially completely private and all the staff are very kind and attentive. We used the massage services which were great, they have a modern gym, beautiful steam room, and overall would recommend to anyone that is looking for a top tier Marriott property. The ONLY downside is that the hotel is located in an alcove and they’re doing construction on the road in front of the hotel so sometimes you have to wait a little to get an Uber or to get into the hotel. This is negligible but writing this so you all know to expect it.

My husband and I spent 9 days at this amazing resort. This is by far the best vacation we’ve been on. The staff was absolutely fantastic and made us feel welcome. I highly recommend trying all the restaurants, spa, and the happy hour. If you are coming to Rio, this is the best hotel by far.

Sept, 2022 review. Quick facts below: The WiFi is horrible! I do not recommend this hotel if the purpose of your visit is work related. I gave it four stars instead of five because of this. Other than that, Sheraton did it again. The staffs friendliness, cleanliness, secluded beach, and amenities galore make this resort an amazing experience. Things to know: - The beach is not “private” Brazilians can access it (as they should) however, access to the resort form the beach is guarded at all times. - The road that takes you in/out of the resort is under construction which adds an additional 5-7mins to every commute - The pool is heated - Pool and Jacuzzi close at 7pm (weird) - Go to the top floor and take a picture of the favelas *must - Your concierge can give you information on all the attractions (highly recommend it) - 10min walk to Leblon beach - Have a good time!

Beautiful hotel located in the most amazing location, smack down between a secluded, almost private beach and a mountain on the other side of the road. The hotel has the most beautiful pool I have seen in all my travels. The common areas are clean, elegant and modern. The room seems a little dated in decor, however it was clean and very comfortable, and most importantly had an amazing view of the ocean, the beach and Ipanema in the distance. The hotel offers great breakfast buffet (free for Bonvoy Elites). The food was delicious and there was plenty of variety of things to choose from. The staff of the hotel was always friendly, helpful, and very professional. I will definitely be going back, as this was one of the best vacations of my life.

My wife and I stayed in the hotel for 10 days for our honeymoon after receiving a recommendation from a friend. When we first arrived we were disappointed because the room had not been cleaned adequately (dirty carpet, stains and dead bugs in the bathroom) and despite informing the hotel we were coming for our honeymoon we didn’t receive any special welcome, for example a note or message from the hotel or chocolate gift as we saw others receive on Instagram. We complained to the reception about the cleanliness and the next morning the room was cleaned to our expectations, we were happy with how the complaint was handled. The hotel room we were given was an ocean view on the 10th floor. The view was amazing and we loved falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. However we feel that for the price and star rating of the hotel, the rooms need to be refurbished, the room feels dated and the bathroom finishings are not befitting of the hotel we expected from the pictures; messy paintwork and grouting, broken wooden furniture, poor quality shower and at one point there was no hot water so our first night was cold showers. We have stayed in lower and similarly priced and rated hotels and the quality of the room and bathrooms were better than this hotel. We used the tennis courts and gym during our stay which was a nice option. We both had the tropical Spa experience which was a wonderful and relaxing experience and the Spa staff were great. We chose the all inclusive option at the hotel and we were not disappointed with the selections available and the high quality of food on offer from the restaurants. The service from the staff at the restaurants was wonderful. The location of the hotel is excellent, after exploring the area we determined it has the best location of all the hotels in Ipanema / Leblon / Copacabana, because of the direct beach access to a “private” beach. Halfway through the stay we received a note in our room to say there was a problem with the pre payment and amount of consumption. We were very surprised because we had the all inclusive option and had not taken anything not included. We called the reception to inquire about the problem and the person was not able to explain what was the problem. (My wife is Brazilian so language was not the problem). We had to go down to the reception to speak with someone else, where we were told that the pre payment taken by the hotel was not enough to cover the cost of our stay (10 days) and so an additional payment was needed. The hotel knew we were staying for 10 days and should have known the total cost of our stay (excluding extras not included Ina lol inclusive), and taken the payment up front, rather than send us an ambiguously and informally written letter, halfway through the stay which the staff could not explain on the Phone. This was an annoying inconvenience and not a nice experience which the hotel could have very easily avoided. To be 5 stars and for us to consider staying again on our next trip to Rio, the quality of the rooms must be improved.

Once a great hotel, now lost its charm, because of two reasons: A) nearby beachclub/ restaurant will regularly do sound checks at 8:10 in the morning. If you are not a morning person this hotel is NOT for you B) Customer service is subpar. They claim this problem above is out of their reach of control, hence we should live with it. Breakfast ist good, but not 5 stars worthy. Beach and Pool is very nice. Location is a bit off and Ipanema Beach (the good parts) 30 min by foot. Many sogar daddys with their mistresses around too. I do not care too much, but if you are strict religious you do not want to see all the kissing and making out everywhere.

The beach is beautiful, but I waited all day, in my room, for fresh towels. Called the front desk four times. Asked multiple employees for help, but towels were just too difficult!

Hotel 🏨 is very large with many rooms that will give the business person or tourist a wonderful experience. However the Hotel 🏨 should have a thrift shop so a business person or tourist can pick up items they failed 😞 to bring with them. The pool 🏊🏾 area could use a renovation soon. The seafood 🦞 is excellent along with all the staff. The Staff makes me feel like family every time they meet me.

Excellent resort Excellent all round service and facilities with fab location. The third hotel we stayed at on our trip and without doubt the best by far! One moan would be having to pay $100 for a late check out when there was plenty of availability however I would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again. French restaurant is outstanding both for service and food and wish I’d had longer to experience it a second time. Well done Sheraton…a great resort!

This Sheraton has it's own private beach in Rio. Absolutely beautiful views in all directions. Safe short walk into the city. Nice rooms, excellent service, great breakfast buffet and top rated restaurants in the hotel. We throughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend stay here.

When we first arrived the staff were amazing and opened the car door for us, unloaded our bags and delivered them to our room when we checked in. The staff at reception, pool bar, restaurants, spa and concierge were just incredible. Lots spoke English and they were so quick and friendly! The breakfast was amazing, so much choice from hots to cold including fruit, cereal pastry and all kinds of hot drinks and juices. The pool area is very clean and no trouble getting sunbed in the mornings. The beach is right below the hotel and is beautiful! Rooms were very clean, bed is comfortable and housekeeping were there to clean our rooms everyday. We had no issues with our stay and would highly recommend to anyone! You can also book tours at the concierge but we didn’t as we’ve been to Rio before. The gym is well equipped and also cocktails at the pool bar and lobby bar were amazing. Only one thing I would say is that there are no local shops, pharmacies etc near by. Either be well packed with everything you need or you might need to take an Uber to Leblon Mall. There is an ATM In the hotel lobby fyi. Thank you to all the lovely staff at the Sheraton. If you’re thinking twice whether to stay here.. book asap!!!

It's a lovely hotel. The views are amazing. Unfortunately, the view from my room was of the dumpster, and I was close enough to the road that every time something with a loud muffler went by, it was enough to wake me. Somebody has to end up looking at the dumpster, I just wish it was not me.

Toilet broken. WiFi a joke, if it functioned. Rooms need to be refurbished URGENTLY! Within two days hearing two other guests complaining at the manager or in public about the bad service of the reception. Pool is nice, food is good. Tennis awesome. All in total overpriced by at least 50%

My girlfriend and I stayed here and had the most amazing time. The manager Erika is beyond stupendous and the staff all had unique personalities that made it feel like each one was independently representing Marriott in a different way. The favela behind the hotel makes walking to the beach not comfortable but the concierge service has taxis available at all times to take you anywhere you need to go

The only drawback is that the location is a little away from the city, nothing that an UBER cannot solve. The place is just lovely, hyper friendly staff, the pool area is fantastic with an opening to the beach.

Great customer service, clean and spacious rooms, and the breakfast was amazing. Stay by the pool to be catered to a variety of appetizers and drinks. There is a good variety of restaurants inside the resort, but easily you can get their taxi to take you to different locations in the area. Will definitely go back.

Had a fantastic experience at the Sheraton Grand Rio, I knew I was going to have a good stay when the manager was able to remember my name. The staff went above and beyond and there is lot to do at this resort. It's in a great location, within walking distance of LeBlon and Ipanema beaches (we walked down to Copacabana as well)

Great hotel, staff is super friendly and speak different languages. The breakfast is wonderful, lots of options and the staff is always checking if everything is to your liking or if you need anything else. There are seats inside and outside, outside you have an incredible view to the sea. If you are an Member Status allows, there's breakfast at the 26th floor, the view is one of a kind and the service is top notch, you can ask for almost anything, there's even champagne available. The swimming pool is very large and the temperature is controlled, good for kids and adults. There's access to the beach at the pool area with all the amenities included, towels, beach umbrella, chairs, etc.

Larissa from the spa best employee --- cons --- gym needs better maintenance on machines ; some machines are broken or don't work properly, issues with shower not working, rubber trainning floor dirty. got charged at the buffet casarao for r$120 after realizing that the cost was r$80 questionable weird sticky black sand next to gutter on beach --- pros --- if well maintained good quality training equipment generally nice place well maintained and friendly staff and service pool & jaccuzzi well designed and maintained --- improvements --- hotter sauna proper ice and cold bottled water dispensing. ice bath co-ed spa better selection of gluten, lactose, sugar free foods at night when casarao buffet is closed. kombucha on outdoor bar menu mma trainning equipment weighted bouncy trainning balls salt water pool, jacuzzi spa section badly design water traps that don't really capture water.

I had the opportunity of staying at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and had the best experience. Once I arrived after a 9-hour flight from the states I was starving and asked the hotel for recommendations with fresh seafood. The concierge immediately made a reservation for the 3 of us at Gissipie (and the food was amazing the chef Reynoldo is truly skilled). We stayed for 7 days and rode the bikes and enjoyed the beach. I had 3 relaxing massages and they were superb. We had breakfast each morning and the food was great including the service. The drivers were extremely accommodating and made sure we were safe and enjoyed our stay. Most importantly the rooms were clean and the service is truly 5-star rated. I enjoyed my stay so well I choose to return next week for 6 days. I must say Rafael Araujo and Cristina Sales were truly amazing and accommodating and I look forward to seeing them again. I stayed in room 1863 and the views were impeccable (I suggest requesting it). I was able to see the city, the pool, and most importantly the ocean. I failed to mention, that the hotel booked our excursions which allowed us to view several tourist sites, hike, and obtain breathtaking photos that have created lifelong memories. Or that I left my debit card in the ATM machine. The staff locked my card up and placed a note under my door to retrieve it and left several messages. Thank you Sheraton Grand Hotel and see you Thursday!

Stayed with my son and daughter in law since they highly recommended the hotel. The outdoor pool and hot tub are amazing! Beautiful ocean and mountain views. The breakfast is muito bom! The staff is super friendly and professional. Very clean rooms and environment. If you are ever in Rio, I guarantee you will love it here.

Super luxury hotel on one of the best spots of Rio with a, sort of, private bay and beach. The restaurants are very good and the breakfast on the terrace is more than just an amazing waking up. When I opened my curtains for the first time on my first morning, I felt magical.

Nice hotel, good location, lots of facilities. Easy check in/check out. My room was a little worn, the sink had been patched, there was mold in the shower tole grout and the closet door was difficult to move. There were also paint splatters on the rug, walls and safe.

The ladies and gentlemen of the staff made a difference during our stay. They are so friendly and professional. Priscilla and Guilherme at the concierge had the best recommendations for restaurants, shopping, even helped us find a notary, and a fabulous Music Store. Everything was so close, the location of this hotel is excellent. The breakfast team made us feel at home: Samuel, Paulo, Maria, and all the others, thank you. We are grateful for the team that cleaned our room, the front desk, the spa. All of you made our stay memorable. We can’t wait to go back to Rio and stay at Sheraton Grand Rio again.

Very difficult to book, no clarity of information. I'm a Bonvoy client and booking at Marriot website i don't have the option to include dinner, but the rooms look better. Using Booking.com i have the option of including breakfast and dinner but the rooms aren't great. I'm already expecting hidden fees to pay at the hotel and i have print everything. I cannot trust a hotel that does not make clear what is included or not.

This is a good hotel Well kept inside and out busy which is good to see the lifts x8 you need to be quick as if you don't hit your floor someone calls it the other way or past your floor but you will get the hang of it . pool area is really good a large bar and restaurants. and of course its directly on a secluded beach . Great value for any Western travellers

We always have a great time in this property. The beach is almost private, close to Leblon and amazing views. In addition the service is amazing, from the Casa da Cachaça, to Casarão, to Bene and the great L’Etoile. Just missing the bar hope will reopen soon!!!!

Amazing hotel and staff! The general manager Marcelo provided a very warm and welcoming environment throughout the entire stay. Alejandra was very attentive and quickly responded to all of our needs. The morning chef made INCREDIBLE tapiocas. He always greeted us with a smile and was delighted to take our order even when he had many orders at the same time. He is a true master of his craft. Although the parking system is a bit outdated, the employees were always quick to validate our tickets which made coming and going from the hotel a breeze. Overall, the staff and service provided by the hotel really made our visit a wonderful experience. 10/10 would recommend.

Hotel is great for vacation with leisure time...But...it is severely over-crowded, affecting restaurants, pool, and elevator availability. Restaurants are at best average only...service is not great, owing to high # of guests! Definitely NOT business hotel at all! Business travelers stay away, lest you get run over by kids, have to fight for food at breakfast time, and have to wait long time for elevator access!
