Worth experience in my life I arrive at 7 am to put my luggage and ask if a room is ready so I can rest a bit "no check in at 2pm". Ok, I come back at 2pm. The door if the luggage room wasn't locked. Then I go to the room, no key to your room, one bathroom for 18 people, my bed was DIRTY and you have no plugs. So security 0, cleaning 0, electricity 0, employees 0. I stayed literally 5minutes before in came back at the reception asking for my money because I was leaving, of course for them that kind of treatment was normal so no...

We could not stay in our booked room because it was completeley covered with black mold. In general the hostel looks dirty and not in a good condition. The receptionist understood that staying in this room would be unreasonable but could not offer us another possibility. So we were offered a complete cancelation and refund of the payed amount. Unfortunately until now (8 weeks later) only half of the price is refunded (even though we asked once again about it). Cannot recommend to book something here.

The place has nothing to do with the pictures!!! Dirty place with a bad smell, it cooks a disgusting bathroom so I prefer not to comment!!! Run away from this place totally misleading advertising!!! I got there and didn't stay one night!! I think instead of chatting all day, clean, organize and renovate this place because it's disgusting and it's ugly!!!

Not even a star. The place is awful, dirty and the service is bad. Only one bathroom for the rooms in the second floor! Almost 30 people for the same bathroom. In the room only one place to charge the phone and if you are in the 3rd floor bed it’s impossible to charge it without disturb other persons. My room hasn’t AC and only 2 small ventilators were working (30 degrees and humid weather). The towels you have to pay for them. If you check out and you don’t have where to put your stuff they charge you 30reais. When you check in you have to do your bed, it’s not done, they give you the beed sheets. The only 2 things good, they have a beautiful cat and the hostel is good located.

The appearance of the place looks neglected and needs a thorough cleaning. The doors don't work properly and overall the walls look a little grimy needing new paint. Everywhere has cigarette smell. There is not a suitable clothesline for wet towels. The sink faucet in my bathroom didn't work well and the toilet paper was of the lowest quality. The reception staff was just Ok. The best of this hostel is the friendliness of the attendants who prepare and serve breakfast.

I have stayed at beautiful hostels in Rio. This one, unfortunately, was a bad surprise. There is mould in the bathroom and the bed sheets are smelly. In the rating the breakfast was quite central, however there is no breakfast. The pictures looked quite cosy, but the atmosphere is not very welcoming. When you arrive a camera to portrait you. Then you are told a list of rules and get a ribbon for your arm you have to wear during your stay. For a trip to the beautiful city I recommend to stay somewhere else.

I find it particularly unacceptable that we had to wait nearly 2 weeks (and several mails and calls) before getting an answer concerning our reservation questions prior arrival. The room is not well maintained and it lacks personal furniture to stow things (tablet around the bed, power outlets ...). The common areas don't look like in the pictures (pool area, back ward area). Some investments are really needed. Poor wifi. Really small fridge. No matress protectors for the beds.

I WILL CHANGE THIS REVIEW IF IMPROVEMENT HAS BEEN MADE - LET ME KNOW. - The room is equipped with an old mattress, old towels and old sheets. The towels had a lot of stains (see pictures attached), the bed sheets did not fully cover the mattress (suggested elastic bed sheets), so coming off at night and leaving the very dirty mattress exposed to our skin. (We suggest getting a new mattress and adding a protection cover for the mattress to maintain its durability and prevent stains - a bed cover that should be cleaned also with the sheets) - Why not mosquito nets on the windows? We had plenty of mosquitoes in our room during the night disturbing sleep which could have been easily prevented with mosquito nets. - There are not enough hangers and a complete empty wall on the other side which could be added easily new hangers. For reference, our room was number 52. We hope this review will be taken into consideration. We liked all the rest of the hostel and would be happy to come back. If you update me, I will change this to a great review.

The place is incredibly well located. 4 blocks to the beach and 2 to the lagoon inside Barrio Ipanema ( the most friendly and clean Neighborhood) in Rio. The variety of nationalities of the other guests makes this place an awesome cultural experience. This is the kind of ambient that you are looking for when you write on Maps search engine : Hostel. Is not cheap but definitely worth the price. Much much more better than Selina in Copacabana, where we also stayed. Receptionist Vanessa was friendlier and super kind always. Valeu. Gostei muito... Obrigadão E com certeza eu voltarei.

Great hostel. Very clean and the bathrooms and showers are cleaned regularly. Also nice that the bathrooms and showers are not part of the room and separate. Lots of communal areas and space. Would stay again.

This place is a real gem. Was recommended to use it for left luggage and when I saw the garden I asked to use it for a while. I was told it was only for guests so asked if I could pay for a room for a few hours before my flight as needed to rest. The kind lady at the desk let me take the last available room at a great price and I was able to have a nap and spend some time working in the shaded garden before heading to the airport. It made a real difference to my last day in town and I was so grateful for a quiet afternoon in a calming place (pool, hammock, lounging area, picnic tables, shaded spaces to work, decking). Highly recommend if you need a reasonably priced place to stay with great facilities (large shared kitchen and bathroom spaces). Also noticed an option to leave luggage and have a shower pre 8pm on departure day if needed. Such a great option for people wanting extra beach time without a sandy journey.

I have stayed at a number of hostels in Rio over the past three years and the Beach House is definitely the best! It's the only hostel in Ipanema with a pool and its located a few blocks from Ipanema beach. The hostel staff is very welcoming especially Bianca, Neto and Igor! The new upstairs bathrooms are really nice! They have a full bar and breakfast service.
