Summary: If you want over the top, exciting, busy place to stay this isn't it. This very trendy, beautiful boutique hotel is super quiet and relaxing. Service is personalized but never intrusive. 5 stars and more. Beach: fantastic views of the Caribbean sea. The views at sunset not to be missed, swimmable beach but most people kayak further out from the beach to snorkel or go to West Bay beach. We had not even a single bite of sandfly or mosquito. Hotel can arrange excursions. Hotel: There are stairs if you want beach or ocean view , no elevator, good exercise. The suites are huuuuge, clean and wonderful. Beautiful, contemporary features elegantly done. Full kitchen, beautiful bathroom, comfy bed, lots of storage in beautiful furniture to hang or to put stuff in drawers. The use of locally sourced mahogany wood all over the property is stunning. Food: You can have fast room service in the dining area or on your balcony with a view of the Caribbean sea, Catching the sunset there too is special. The Lotus restaurant on property has a fantastic menu for breakfast lunch and dinner. Many options for vegetarians. Kitchen closes at 9pm. Bar closes 10pm. You are next door to the fine dining restaurant Luna Muna. Just a short walk along the beach to your left are lively restaurants of all types on the beautiful West Bay Beach or take a water taxi ($5 per person no matter how near or far), or Xbalanque can arrange to go to West End to your right where there is shopping and restaurants. Spa: The spa service is easily scheduled and very relaxing, in a small building right on the beach with privacy glass. The staff: Janine at front desk is super special. The wait-staff at Lotus restaurant, the kitchen staff, the cleaners, the people who keep the beach clean, the people who carried our luggage up and down the stairs, the drivers from and back to airport, the person who greeted us with the Xbalanque sign and Carlos who took us for an island tour. Every single interaction we had was genuinely great.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Xbalanque as part of our two weeks in Roatan. Overall, the property itself is beautiful. The buildings/rooms are modern and well kept. The poolside area is relaxing with many options to enjoy the pool, beach, and oceanside. The Lotus restaurant has a wide variety of options and we enjoyed all of our meals. It's also reasonably priced. You're also in close proximity to other dining options like Sea Salt and Luna Muna. The service is ok. Compared to Sea Salt and Luna Muna its a notable difference. We stayed in one of the element lofts. The room was modern, clean, and quite nice. Wifi was strong and a near full size fridge was a nice convenience. The lofts are a fairly long walk up the hillside. During the day you can ask for a ride on the golf cart. It would be nice if that was an option after dinner when it's also dark. My wife was pregnant so this was a little bit of a hassle. For older guests thus may also be a challenge. It's very quiet at the resort. At times it felt like no one was working there. The girl at the front desk is wonderful but it's only staffed during usual business hours. It can be very relaxing. Other times it just feels odd. We stayed at Ibagari for 10 days and while it's also a small, boutique resort the feeling is so much different. The service is night and day better there. In short, Xbalanque is a nice place with good food and a relaxing atmosphere. Expect it to be very quiet and a very lean service staff. If you have an option I would recommend Ibagari over Xbalanque.

The restaurant was wonderful with a varied menu that tasted delicious. Service was fine and the bill was medium priced. But the views: priceless!

We enjoyed dinner at Lotus and it was spectacular! Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service. Catch of the day was grouper. My husband ordered it blackened and said it was the best he had ever had. It is an expensive restaurant and it was worth every penny! Higjly recommend.

Amazing place! Janine was wonderful and the entire hotel stall was so helpful with everything! We were there for 4 days, they even let us borrow their golf cart to drive back and forth to the hotel next door for a wedding that we attended. My 6yr old son says this is the place to stay! lol. See you next year!

My husband & I stayed at Xbalanque for 9 days. It was absolutely fabulous! We stayed in an upstairs jungle room - Water. It was huge! It had almost a full size refrigerator, microwave, blender & coffee maker. Our only complaint is that the bed was excessively soft (and I like a soft bed). It’s hard to get used to not flushing the toilet paper & we asked to have the room cleaned every day because that trash can needed to be emptied. The resort is beautiful! It has a great restaurant where we ate almost every meal while looking out at the beach & ocean. The staff was fabulous! They helped arrange activities, and were happy to do anything they could to ensure we had a good experience! They have 2 docks. One has hammocks & chairs - that’s where we watched the sun set every night. They even arranged for a doctor to come to the hotel to do our COVID test before we went home. We were worried about the bugs after reading other reviews. We didn’t see any mosquitoes even though it rained several days while we were there (during the night). We did get a few no see em bites but as others have said, if you don’t scratch them they go away the next day. All of this is consistent anywhere you go on the island. I would definitely recommend Xbalnque & I hope we can return one day!

We spent 6 glorious days at this beautiful resort. The staff was top notch and accommodated every request. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beachfront with a stunning covered dock. Loved the yoga and do not miss the spa! Great food as well! We originally booked an element room but moved to the main building since it was quite an arduous climb back up. As two ladies on our own we felt perfectly safe. I would definitely recommend bringing lots of deet bug spray. You don’t really feel the bites but they end up itching badly for weeks!

This place was a DREAM. Everything was extraordinary; the service, food, room, ambiance, vibe and amenities. My wife and I stayed only 2 nights while in Roatan, but I wish our entire stay was here (our main stay was in Tela, at the Hilton). Thank you to the two wonderful ladies at the reception area and the three bartenders that took care of us during our stay. They made a great stay, amazing. We can’t wait to go back.
