This was an absolutely amazing experience!! I loved being able to hang out with the sloths, monkeys and macaw’s. We cruised to Mahogany Bay and were picked up at the port by Rick. He was a fabulous driver showing us different things along the drive to the monkey and sloth hangout area. Upon leaving this excursion, we met Daniel Johnson himself. Enjoyed a quick chat about how he started this place. If you get the opportunity, book this excursion, it was worth every penny! Once we left, Rick also recommended the Roatan iguana excursion! We loved that too, never thought I’d be surrounded by 200 iguanas and enjoy it! It was interesting to learn about them while feeding and petting them! Loved everything about these experiences!!

What a great experience. We booked this as part of our shore excursion through NCL. The tour guide was great. They do not rush you through the tour and allow you to spend as much time with the animals as you want. We would definitely to this excursion again but just book it off the ship. We had four stops in our excursion but two could have been skipped. The chocolate factory, small store, and the beach.

This place is totally amazing! You get to interact and hold the 🦥 sloth's, Monkeys and birds. Hands down Daniel Johnson's Hangout is the best attraction in Roatan they offer so many things to do as well. Don't book this attraction with your cruise line. Contact them directly save $$ and way better experience. Also request Cabrina Thompson for your transportation and tour guide, she goes above and beyond showing you so much about the island.

This was by far my favorite excursion I have done in all my years of traveling. Mark was absolutely the most amazing guide! I HIGHLY recommend having him be your tour guide. He went out of his way and did SO MUCH for us that wasn’t even included. Very knowledgeable and personable and I would call him the “yes man”. He even took us to a local spot to eat and drink and swim right on the ocean with no crowds at all! I cannot stress enough how amazing this excursion was and how amazing Mark was. HIGHLY RECOMMEND A+++.

Loved this place. Visited during an excursion while on a cruise. Got to interact with and hold the sloths, monkeys, and macaws. Had a great time. The guides were really knowledgeable and made sure everyone had a good time and a chance to hold the animals. Make sure to listen to the guides. They tell you to empty your pockets and I didn't realize I had a $5 in my shirt pocket. A monkey went exploring and found it and took off with it. I definitely recommend doing this if you have the chance.

This was part of a shore excursion with Royal Caribbenan cruise. It was a very neat little place. Our guide at the facility definitely loved working with the animals, which made our experience more enjoyable. The sloth holding experience was really neat, and it was fun to have monkeys jumping from person to person. The macaws were beautiful, and my son absolutely loved having them stand on his head. I wish we had more time here, but it was a nice adventure that was fun for the whole family.

We had SUCH a pleasant experience with Daniel Johnson excursions! We did the monkey sloth hangout, the island tour, and the beach! Norma, our driver and guide, was amazing and so knowledgeable. She took us to all the hot spots and made sure we had a good time. I’m so glad we got to spend a lot of our day with her! The hangout was awesome and you can tell the animals are loved and taken well care of. Gavin made sure we all got a good amount of time with all the animals while respecting their boundaries. The beach was AMAZING, so peaceful and just a short barge ride from the hangout. The food did take a LONG time to get to us so order first. When it finally got to us the food was great. They made sure to get us back in time to get back on our cruise ship. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This was an amazing experience in Honduras. Very affordable and friendly informative staff assisting the tour. The exhibit is brief, however, memorable moments to capture with direct contact with animals. Must visit while on this island.

We went on a cruise with a stop in Roatan. We booked the monkey/sloth, snorkeling and private beach tour. We were picked up and drove around the island by the nicest lady. I loved the sloths, my son loved the monkeys and we both LOVED the private beach stop. I hope someday we are able to get back there. Highly recommend!

Fantastic excursion with five star service all the way through. Karla picked us up from the port and gave a great tour along the way to the monkey and sloth exhibit. It was even better than I expected and I had high expectations!

We are doing this excursion again! From the moment we were greeted by our driver, Jeff, we had an amazing tour. He knew the island well, spoke English fluently as he’d lived in Houston for years, and made sure we had a great time at the beach and restaurant. Our Sloth & Monkey guide, Gevin, was knowledgeable and kind to the animals. Mike, “The Situation,” was absolutely entertaining. Oh, he’s a monkey. The iguana farm guide, Pablo, was inspiring and remarkable. He was informative about iguanas and the fish. The smoothies down by the dock were delicious. Javion made sure we were able to keep up while snorkeling, and Captain Dexter was polite & professional. He also stopped to see the tigers. I thought he was kidding! We love Roatán BECAUSE of these wonderful people, and will request to see them again when we return!

We booked directly with company and added the iguana hangout to the sloths. It was a really lovely experience that was just the right length of time for a 2 year old. Our driver was Syvonnie and she was absolutely lovely. She was very knowledgeable about the island and had great factoids. We'd definitely book with them again.

Absolutely the best experience ever. Carla was our driver and she is the best too. Our snorkle guide was so much fun. The monkey and sloth also offer an Iguana tour which I also highly recommend. You can't go wrong booking with them directly. Love, love loved it🥰 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wonderful staff!! So informative and pleasant to talk with. The monkeys are so funny. But the sloths are like teddy bears. So slow and gentle. The parrots were loud and entertaining. We got lots of great pictures. We will be back !

I arrived just in time to join a small group. Our guide spoke about the monkeys and sloths and gave insight to Daniel Johnson's and shared some fun facts. They have nine sloths that freely roam through the mangroves. There are several monkeys that seem happy. They each have fun names. I held a sloth, played with the monkeys, and held macaws. The sloth was neat. They have a baby sloth that was high in the trees during my visit. It was a fun, different experience. It does not take a lot of time depending upon the group size and weather. I would recommend stopping to see the animals.

Such a cool experience for our entire group. 14 of us enjoyed the monkey and sloth hangout but the real magic was out in the water. The most beautiful water, it was like bath water. So clear and clean. And so awesome to see so much. I enjoyed just hanging out in the water near the boat and floating around. Most of the group did the snorkeling which they said was amazing. I could have stayed there all day. Daniel is awesome and we were so thankful to him to give our family this experience. Trust me you don’t want to miss out!!!

We can't say enough great things about this place! Daniel Johnson himself was our guide for part of the Monkey and Sloth meet and greet. The fact that he still does tours himself shows how personal the business is. All the animals are loved and treated great, and they make sure you as the guest handle them correctly too. We had an AMAZING time! Also Dennis the tour guide for the day by vehicle was beyond awesome and so kind! Showed us all the great spots of the locals, let us go where we wanted, very informative, and even helped us order at a local waterside restaurant by translation and suggested things to eat. We'll definitely be back! Best tour experience ever I'd say!

Lovely experience! Stopped here for a cruise excursion. Had the encounter with the sloths, monkeys, parrots and the snorkeling. Had a wonderful time! Our driver/guide was Dennis and was very informative, showed us multiple places and we stopped for photos prior the animal encounter. I am not an expert at swimming but was able to do the snorkel and the young men guiding us were very knowledgeable and helpful and made sure we were doing well. Highly recommended!

We have been twice now. This is the best spot on our whole vacation or any vacation. The animals are rescues and are so well loved. The staff are passionate about the animals and the snorkeling is just unbelievable. They are very protective of the reef and have good rules in place to keep the reef safe. The owner took my grumpy teenage nephew to pick fresh mangos and my nephew said it was the best experience ever. My other nephew is in a wheel chair and they simply would not charge for him to come, so not only did they put in a ton of effort to get him out snorkeling and seeing the animals they didn't even charge for him. The entire family works in the business and they are all so friendly and helpful. At the end they let us swim with GIANT tarpon fish. Every one in our party of 10 loved it and can't wait to come back.

Amazing experience! The place was beautiful and there was a lot of animals to see. The guide was funny as well as incredibly knowledgeable. The animals seemed to have a bond with him as well. Being able to hold a sloth and interact with monkeys and macaws was a once in a lifetime thing for me and I'll never forget it. Epic visit!

This place was amazing, we had such a good time with the animals. They gave everyone enough time to hold and enjoy them. Mark was our driver that day and he was great. I defiantly would recommend this place. We paid the extra 10 for the iguana farm and could not believe the amount of iguana out there. Truly an amazing day.

It is a small place but they take care of the animals well and they are a delight to get to hold a monkey and a sloth. The sloths are so cute and gentle! It was worth the nominal fee to get to do that. They have other animals there but face it people are there to see sloths and monkeys as the name of the center highlights. When we were there we were the only ones so got to spend a lot of time looking around and asking questions. Well worth the visit.

What a great day we had doing this tour! We cruised there and we’re picked up at the port by Ernie. He was a wonderful, courteous guide. Interacting with the monkeys and sloths was my absolute favorite part! We also enjoyed the snorkeling and an authentic Honduran lunch which was the best meal we had on the whole trip! After we stopped for lunch, Ernie took us to a fabulous beach for a while. It Was a great choice and we would def do it again!

Best excursion we have done so far. Holding the sloths, monkeys, and macaws and feeding iguanas was amazing. Horse back ridding was also fun and exciting. And Honduras was an amazing and beautiful country.

This place is absolutely worth visiting while your staying in Roatan. Our guide was very friendly and being able to interact with the monkey’s, sloths, and parrots was a very fun experience! For $12 per person if you plan on just looking at the animals I think it’s very much fair and even bang for buck (compared to a lot of other places here.) on top of that you r supporting the sanctuary itself so it’s also going to a good cause. Would definitely recommend stopping by!

This was by far the best part of our vacation. My family went snorkeling and I got to stay on the boat with Daniel he was awesome. Our family waited to see the birds until after snorkeling and Daniel personally told us about the birds!

This was the best excursion we had that week. We did the monkey snorkel tour. We hugged a sloth, had a mini monkey climb on us, held colorful birds. Then we went on a short boat ride to a sandbar and snorkeled. The water was not deep and you were up close to all the sea creatures. Spiney lobsters, lion fish, puffer fish, conch, coral and many other fish. Very small group so you went at a nice pace. After snorkeling we were taken to a nice beach resort for some beach time. You could buy drinks and food if you wanted. Our driver ( sorry, I can't remember the young ladies name because I am terrible with names)was so nice, she even stopped at a pharmacy because my other half did not pack enough of his heart medicine and had run out that day. She did not have to do that but she did. This is the third time we have been here and it never gets old.

This place is SO cool! The Sloths were my favorite. But, the monkeys and macaws were cool too! We also added in snorkeling. The reef was gorgeous. Our snorkel guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. We loved everything about Daniel and his sanctuary!

Our guide Mark Boden picked us up from the port. There were 3 other ladies in our group who booked directly through the hangout. We learned a ton and had a blast with the animals!! Then he took us on a private tour of the Island!! We got to see a lot more than you would ever see booking an excursion or 3rd party tour. Even hooked us up with a private boat tour!! Best port experience!! BOOK DIRECTLY THROUGH THE HANGOUT!!!! Ask for Mark!!

  • 5/5 Eddie M. 2 years ago on Google
Very cool place that allows you to interact with sloths, monkeys and macaws. Would definitely visit again the next time we’re on Roatán.

  • 5/5 Manuel G. 2 years ago on Google
Great little hang out to spend some time. It was a fun and interactive way to see and learn a bit about Sloths 🦥, we also got to see some of the local wildlife that an be found in the area. Staff/guide was courteous, attentive and knowledgeable about the animals that they have in the place. The admission fee is very accessible and for the experience of seeing, holding and learning about sloths it is well worth it.

A friend recommended this place as a must-do on our cruise stop in Roatan, and boy - am I glad we followed her recommendation! We had an absolutely marvelous time visiting with the animals, snorkeling the beautiful reef, and seeing parts of the island with our wonderful guide Mark. Not only did he show us around and help us learn about the island, but we also stopped at a few places where he would recommend some favorite, local treats for us to get and try. This was, hands down, our favorite day of the entire cruise. Thank you so much to their entire team! Absolutely loved it, and hope to come back again.

I can’t say enough about this place!!!! I wanted to personally thank Daniel and Saul for making this the best time ever!! This place made so many happy memories for our family from holding the sloths, monkeys, birds to the snorkeling. But the adventure didn’t end there we went to the beach and had a great time from the drinks and food. The staff were awesome to dancing with us to double shot hour that lasted the entire time we were there. Still the adventure didn’t end there. We were so excited about this place we wanted to personally thank Daniel himself for making such a great place to make family memories. He took the time out of his busy schedule to take us back to our port!!!! Thank you so much we will definitely be back to make more memories for our family to remember for years to come!!!!!!!!
