I have to say that Nick as the leader of our walking tour group of eight. Four Canadians and some people from Israel, his knowledge of Roman history is impeccable. while answering questions and making sure that the group is well-paced according to their needs.I would highly recommend this free walking tour and in other words they don't ask for any money they just make suggestions. Of all the tours I've been on by far this is the best. FIVE STARS TO NICK!

Last May, we did the free tour with Alessandro and it was great. We got to know a less touristic side of Rome, with some story but also light-weighted so it wasn't difficult to spend 2-3 hours walking. The tour was wide enough to get a good view from the city and Alessandro was very entertaining and good humourous. He was always helpful, gave us food tips and after the tour he continued to help us through WhatsApp.

The tour with Lucio was very good! Interesting, well run and willing to tell more and answer questions. It shows you the most important things about Rome and more, it is the small details that make the difference.

The Rome’s Ultimate Free Walking tour is definitely something I would recommend to anyone. Nick has given us a very detailed, yet entertaining walk through the history and culture of Rome. As a bonus tons of local tips where to eat, how things work and what other cool things to do. We really enjoyed the genuine interest of the guide, his passion for the city and how relaxed he was throughout the entire tour. Nick & team. Thanks!

My partner and I did the free walking tour in Rome with our guide Lucio. It was one of the highlights during our stay in Rome. Amazing way to see the city. Lucio was very knowledgeable and approachable. We enjoyed our tour so much so we booked the Night Tour for the next evening again with Lucio. We highly recommend also this experience as you see Rome in literally a different light. Thanks Lucio for the great tour and we look forward to out next visit in the future to do the bike tour with you :)

Very interesting tour, we had Lucio as a guide, and he was very sociable and friendly. So knowledgeable about Rome and ancient architecture! The whole tour also had a very positive atmosphere, I really recommend it.

History came alive on this walking tour with Nick. His fountain of knowledge was overflowing in his stories and facts as he took you through the streets off the well trodden paths deeper into history. The three hour tour flew by as interest were peaked through several periods of time. Thank you Nick for being an amazing tour guide

We had a Free Walking Tour with Lucio. This guy is absolutely amazing! He is super passionate for the city's history, architecture and stories. Every question we had answered with some interesting juicy story and facts. Rome illuminated with more colors for us thanks to this tour. We took many tours around the world and for sure this one was the best.

With Lucio with had the best walking tour ever. We were a small group of 4 people but he really enjoyed taking us through Rome and told us so many interesting facts about the beautiful city! He answered all our questions and really took his time. We visited all the points mentioned in the description. We are happy to go on a tour with Lucio again.

I signed up for the free walking tour with Rome’s Ultimate Walks on my arrival day in Rome (first time in the city). Since it was January and it was still a lot less tourists because of the pandemic, I was the only one so I got a private walking tour with Alessandro. It was the best way to get a first impression and feel for the city. Apart from his vast knowledge about the history of the city, Alessandro told a lot of interesting stories and was very engaging. Plus he shared a lot of his local favorite places to go and to eat. This was so very valuable during the course of my stay. I highly recommend this tour as it is the perfect start or add-on to any Rome visit.

This was a top-notch way to understand Rome's history in a fun and informative way. Nick does an incredible job of remaining passionate after nine years touring Rome newbies like myself around. His enthusiasm for the city is infectious! As someone with a wandering attention span, I often get distracted/bored on tours, but not this one! The time flew by and I fell even more in love with Rome thanks to Nick and Rome's Ultimate Free Walking Tour. The food tips at the end were super appreciated, too.

My standard for walking tours is very high but Nick still exceeded all expectations – he was warm and welcoming, the tour itself was super interesting and I left it feeling like I’ve learned lots. Definitely recommended! Tip him handsomely, he deserves it 🙌🏼

I had the privilege of joining Rome's Ultimate Free Walking Tour with Alessandro as our guide, and I can't express enough how exceptional the experience was. Despite the small group, with only four of us in attendance, Alessandro's enthusiasm, charm, and incredible knowledge of Rome truly shone through. Alessandro's warmth and friendliness immediately put us at ease, and his infectious energy made the tour all the more enjoyable. His passion for Rome and its rich history was abundantly clear, and he masterfully conveyed the stories and significance behind the incredible landmarks we visited. Alessandro took us to iconic sites such as Porta del Popolo, Piazza del Popolo, the Mausoleum of Augustus, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Ponte Sant’Angelo, and Castel Sant’Angelo. What set him apart was his ability to make each location come to life with vivid descriptions, historical context, and engaging anecdotes. What impressed us most was his impeccable pacing of the tour. Alessandro made sure we had ample opportunities to take in the sights, ask questions, and even enjoy a gelato break. It's the little things that truly make a tour memorable, and Alessandro excelled in this regard. Throughout our two weeks in Italy, we had the chance to experience various tour guides, but Alessandro stood out as one of the best. His dedication to providing a top-notch tour was evident at every turn. We left the tour not only with a deeper appreciation for Rome's history and culture but also with a profound gratitude for having such an extraordinary guide. Alessandro, thank you for the incredible journey through Rome's most iconic landmarks. Your passion and expertise made this experience a highlight of our trip. We can't recommend the Ultimate Free Walking Tour with Alessandro highly enough, and we'll cherish the memories we made on this tour forever. Grazie mille!

We loved our tour guide Alessandro. He was so nice and knowledgeable about the city. He went above and beyond to give us personal recommendations for food and attractions. We actually had really rough conditions for the tour. It poured down rain for the duration of our tour. That didn’t break his spirits. He asked us over and over if we wanted to continue or if we needed a break. He’d try to find us shelter everywhere he could. It was seriously tropical story raining. I wish I could have enjoyed a regular tour without the rain, but either way, Alessandro was top notch.

This is the second time I have taken part in the tour with Rome's Ultimate, once in 2017 with Papa Joe as a guide and now at Easter 2024 with Nick. I really enjoyed both times. The guys are refreshingly enthusiastic and show you Rome in a somewhat unusual way. Here you are not simply taken to the tourist hotspots, but also get to know lesser-known places and find out how life works in Rome. Would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Rome and wanting to experience the city in a small group with entertaining and extremely knowledgeable tour guides.

Went on our tour today - and thoroughly enjoyed it! So fantastic seeing places off the beaten track, and getting a thorough history of Rome that truly brings the architecture, monuments and statues to life. So great having attendees limited to 15 people, so we could get to know each other and not be overwhelmed in the streets. Thanks to our guide Nick we feel well prepared for the next few days of exploring the city (and walked away with some fab lunch suggestions - nearly invited him with us as he was so friendly and accommodating!). Highly recommend.

Nick is brimming with knowledge and clearly knows his stuff. Please wear trainers as alot of walking!! Can't recommend Nick highly enough, we loved it. Thank you.

We had Justin as our tour guide and he was passionate and knowledgeable! He took us to numerous landmarks, and explained the history and stories that made them so highly regarded. It was a thought provoking tour that inspired many questions that Justin was more than happy to answer. We liked him so much that we booked another tour with him, which he specifically planned around our own travel schedule! We were very happy to have gotten the opportunity to learn so much from Justin!

I just did the free walking tour today and I benefitted from having a slightly smaller group so we were able to chat and get to know our guide Nick. I chose this tour because I wanted to see some sights outside of the main ones that I would likely see regardless and this worked out really nicely as I ended up learning lots of interesting history about Rome as well. This was my first full day in the city so it’s set me up nicely for the remainder of my trip. Would recommend for sure!

Nick brought Rome back to life despite being 2,500 years old with his incredibly interesting and passionate walking tour. We (a group of 5) loved the tour through Rome's ancient and modern history rather than the 'who built it, when and where' type tours you get most other places. One of the best tours I have been on. Make sure you're ready to give a decent tip - you'll be wanting to ;)

  • 5/5 Karthik R. 6 months ago on Google
This was hands down the best tour of Roma!!! Nick or guide was so enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about Rome!!! This was not the typical tourist trap locations but actual historically significant areas and information about them. Be warned that they accept only cash at the end, a trip to the ATM beforehand is advised though you will run into one or two during the walk I cannot recommend this enough!!! Pros: small group sizes, extremely knowledgable guide, non tourist trap locations and the actual history of the places including the dark side that most tend to ignore, Not really a con but a small hassle: only cash accepted at the end

The BEST walking tour in Rome! Nick was the most accomidating tour guide I’ve ever had. And we’ve been on a lot of walking tours so that is saying something. Nick literally gave us a private even when he wasn’t feeling the best - we truly appreciate him and his wealth of knowledge as he really knows everything about the city and it’s history. 10/10!!!

It is rare to experience people who are truly passionate about a subject. However, during a free walking tour with Nick at Rome's Ultimate, there was no doubt that Nick spoke about ancient and present-day Rome with sincere passion. He not only succeeded in making those hours some of the most interesting and knowledgeable I had spent in Rome, but also created a great atmosphere within the group, always finding a humorous way to convey his messages. I would highly recommend Nick's tours to anyone visiting Rome, regardless of their age. Even those who have been to Rome before or have lived there for years can benefit from gaining a deeper understanding of its amazing history. It is a must, almost like visiting the Colosseum.

Alessandro was amazing! Very engaging, informative, personal and friendly. Every corner revealed a new story with plenty of historical references. Our group of 6 absolutely loved it. Best tour in Rome so far. Also good to know that while this is a free tour, you are recommended to tip your guides. The expereince is very recommended!

During our recent trip to Rome, my partner and I were lucky enough to enjoy a 6-person free walking tour with Alessandro. He was so informative about each spot, of course, and extremely personable. I especially appreciated learning about all of the free water fountains and how to drink from them like a local! And, since we did this tour on the first day of our visit, his many food and activity recommendations guided the remainder of our city stay. We would definitely recommend Rome’s Ultimate Free Walking Tour to anyone visiting the city, especially as a wonderful introduction early on in your trip!

This is the most informative and enjoyable tour of Rome I’ve ever had! Our guide (Nick) gave us a fascinating overview of Rome throughout history. His knowledge of the subject matter was amazing and his presentation of it was engaging, surprising, even hilarious at times. He gave us an understanding of the realities that shaped Roman history, the stories behind the stories. Highly recommended for people of all ages and backgrounds. A highlight of our Rome vacation!

Went on 2 tours with this company and Nick was THE BEST tour guide one could ever ask for. He was incredibly educational and funny and personable! He was so easy to talk to, allowed for questions and answered them with a personal flair and intimate knowledge of history. If youre looking for a walking tour, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!!

It was like being on a personal private tour. The two hours went fast. I highly recommend it. Alessandro was awesome. He was able to answer any questions we had. He made it fun by playing a game as well.

Had such an excellent time on this tour with our guide Nick today. Cannot say enough about his knowledge, passion for the subject at-hand, and willingness to answer each and every question I had. I already recommended this to the folks I ate next to at dinner tonight, because I was so happy with my experience. 5/5, and would recommend to anyone visiting The Eternal City!

I loved this walking tour and would recommend to anyone taking a trip to beautiful Rome! Our guid was clearly so passionate about Roman history (having done his master in this area!) and made it such a fun and interesting experience! We really missed him for the rest of the trip whenever we saw some ancient building or monument and wished he was there to tell us all about it! 😁 It’s a great way to get your bearings of the city and discover places you can revisit yourself later and get plenty of tips and ideas from someone who knows the place so well! It’s really a must do! 😊🏛🇮🇹🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🚶‍♂️🚶🏽‍♂️

Our guide Nick was very eloquent, knowledgeable and polite. He has a great gift for presentation and keeping your attention. We loved his style all together, he is one of the best guides we encountered so far. Our history knowledge improved from 3/10 to at least 4/10, maybe even more. We liked the tour that much we booked the night walk the following day with Alessandro which proved to be interesting way to explore city sights and to meet nice and pleasant people at the company's pub where we had drinks afterwards. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We had an amazing experience. Our Tour guide's name was Nick and he had a fun personality. We loved his style of telling us the stories and history surrounding us as we walked through the beautiful city of Roma. He was on time, answered any and all of our questions. We also asked for recommendation for different restaurants, shopping, and landmarks. He told us everything we needed to know. Wonderful experience, 10/10. My only suggestion - as we did enjoy the section of the city we walked, I do wish there was an all day walking tour that showed a majority of the city in a day.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and recommend this tour to anyone headed to Rome esp if they have limited time in Rome. My friends and I had Alessandro as a guide and he made it educational and fun! His presentation of so much information made it easy to digest! We landed at 12 noon got to the hotel at 2 then went on this tour at 4. We enjoyed it so much so that we bought tickets to the night walking tour a few days later. I had limited time in Rome and I felt like I got a really good foundation for the other tours I took: night walking tour, Vatican and Colosseum. Please request Alessandro, you won’t regret it!

i came to Rome with my family for spring break, and we decided to go on the Rome’s Ultimate free walking tour. It was a very entertaining and informative tour. As a student who’s interested in history, I learned a lot about Roman history and Rome’s architecture background. It was honestly very horizon broadening, and our tour guide Nick is so nice and knowledgeable. Recommend! ! !
