The Puente Nuevo, or New Bridge, is one of the most iconic sights of Ronda, a beautiful city located in the southern region of Andalusia in Spain. The bridge towers 120 meters above the Guadalevín river and provides stunning views of the El Tajo gorge and the surrounding mountains. The bridge was built over the course of 34 years and was completed in 1793. It is made of stone and stands 66 meters high, making it one of the highest bridges in Spain. The bridge played an important role in the history of Ronda, as it provided a vital link between the two halves of the city, which were previously divided by the gorge. Nowadays, the bridge is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ronda, and it is an excellent spot for taking photos and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Visitors can cross the bridge to explore the historic part of the city and see the stunning architecture, as well as the Plaza de Toros, one of the oldest bullrings in Spain. Overall, the Puente Nuevo is a must-see attraction in Ronda, and it is well worth a visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or natural beauty.

Amazing view. If you want to take pictures for the new bridge, you should come here. At the bottom of the canyon is another view, which is closer to the plain on the bottom of the mountain. From the bottom of the valley overlooking the mountains, the scenery is particularly magnificent! Of course, we must be careful when walking down the mountain.

📍Ronda 📸@NateZeth Great historical city laying in the middle of “nowhere”. Love the charming vibes with great restaurants and shopping streets. Beautiful views and more. The driving experience from Marbella to this place is an extra plus!

Definitely worth a visit for the bridges over this gorge including a short walk across the high bridge followed by walking down back streets to cross the river at a smaller bridge before ascending to the top once again. Remember good footwear as slops can be a little slippery

A sight to see. Only one problem if you are keen on taking a photo of it is the high stone walls that block some of the views and there's ugly big lights, so you have to walk around to pick your spot or hop up on the wall.

A gorge that is impressive for anyone standing looking at it from above and below. 500 meters long, 100 meters deep, separating the town into 2 parts with the famous Puente Nuevo bridge. All of this happened 5,000 years ago during seismic movements. You have to see it!

This is one of the most breathtaking attractions that I've laid eyes on. I was extremely captivated by the structure. I drive an hour and a half from Mijas, and it was worth every minute. This is a must-see in person!

You probably won't come to Ronda and not see this feat of engineering. For 2.50e you can go inside to a little museum, which is worth it in my opinion

Great place. Amazing views. Careful when walking at the sidewalk… keep track of the traffic. Is a narrow sidewalk and there are a lot of people taking pictures. The best views of the river is right in the middle of the bridge. Find a balcony and lean over the steel fence (you will be fine).

It was my old dream to visit it. It is great even with so many people around. History shouts when you are on the bridge or under it, and see the size.

One of the most fascinating places ever. Somehow scary and depressive but also so lovely. I feel so peaceful in Ronda.

This spot never disappoints, last time I went here was 2008, now back 14 years later and time seems to have stood still, love the stunning views and architecture from every angle either on the new bridge or any side of the gorge, lots of cafes, restaurants and bars take advantage of the view with alfresco dining on terraces overlooking it.

Ronda is such a cool little town! The gorge that splits the town has breathtaking views and there are amazing walkways around the gorge. The town itself is very quaint and a pleasure to stroll, shop, and eat in. We took a detour when driving from Seville to Granada and man was it worth it! I highly recommend visiting Ronda!

Bit scary for me, but must see place on our Spain tour

  • 3/5 Mo A. 2 years ago on Google
It is amazing but there is no viewpoint that you can see it fully. The walking path that goes underneath it, isn't clear where it starts. The accommodation in this town is over priced comparing to nearby places.

Totally breath taking scenic spot to visit. Don't miss out when visiting Ronda! It's quite unbelievable to see how the houses and buildings are literally built on the tip of those edges.. just gorgeous.

Defently worth the climb to the bottom.. Loads to explore but can be hard going.

Spectaculair place but still not too touristic and therefore still normal prices.

  • 5/5 David Peter B. 6 years ago on Google
Beautiful gorge with spectacular views from the bridge. You can climb all the way down and view from the bottom as well.
