The area is not good. Lots of poverty and crime. The hostel is good for 2-3 nights. Really nice and pretty in the entrance area. The rooms and the bathroom are very small and narrow. For the low price, it's fine for a few nights. Quiet despite the central location.

I really enjoyed staying here, the staff were friendly and their English was really good. The kitchen is good, the rooms are clean and cozy (although the curtain wasn't quite large enough for the window so I recommend eye masks and ear plugs for the emergency vehicles that go by), the bathroom was clean too. It was great the fact the bathroom was cleaned daily and there are lockers in the room (you can store money, gadgets and even laptops in these). I'd arrived early, but they allowed me to store my baggage downstairs for free, which was super useful! I highly recommend this hostel, it's only a 3 minute walk from the station and 30 seconds from a supermarket.

It was our second time in Paris and we wanted to stay near the train station so we picked the Smart Stay Hostel/Budget Hotel! Location wise this was the smartest option in Paris cause we were exactly at a distance of 3minutes by foot from Paris Gare Du Nord. With key stations at walking distance, it was easy for us to access all key tourist attractions with direct connections. Being close to the station, the area of bustling and vibrant at all times. Smart Stay unlike a lot of hostels in Paris has a lift and is spacious. It has a neat kitchen with a cool common room with enough collectibles from across the world showcasing the kind of travellers that visit here! Our 4 bed dorm had an attached bathroom, space to keep bags, enough of plug points, a window with a view as well. The beds were adequately soft and promised a good sleep. There were lockers as well to keep our personal belongings!
The only negative was the lighting system. The bed didn’t have dedicated lighting and the original lighting was not very pleasant. Breakfast was juice, coffee and typical French croissants! All worth the penny!

A great place for a short stay, as it's a quick walk from Gare du Nord and essentially just a budget hotel. Friendly and helpful reception staff and clean and tidy. A mixture of age ranges staying there, so not just a "youth hostel"! Our room, though small by most hotel standards, had a good sized double bed, TV, desk and ensuite, as well as a small balcony. We were on the road side, so yes it was a bit noisy, but that's to be expected in a busy city location. Free tea and coffee all day in the kitchen, and breakfast was in a nearby hotel (a very short walk away). We'll definitely stay here again, although we'll probably splash out on nearby cafe restaurants for breakfast instead next time...

Aside from it's location near Gare du Nord, relative security and friendly staff I experienced, unfortunately this hostel is not on par with the quality you can expect from other hostels in Paris. The rooms are very cramped and the bathroom showers even more so. I'm a small person and I struggled to use the shower properly. Although clean sheets are provided the bed mattresses are saggy and uncomfortable and I think they have an issue with bed bugs too. The beds themselves are old and noisy so it's hard to move in bed without making noise that wakes up others in the room. The lockers are tiny so they barely store many belongings safely. They have basic kitchen facilities with a microwave and sandwich press. However, I wouldn't stay here again.

Very basic accomodations at a good price. There are lots of young people staying there, if you are older you might feel a little out of place. You have to clean your dishes, but some people don't do it right, always check if the dishes are clean before using them. To use the washing machine you have to pay 8 Euros, that is a little expensive. Breakfast is 4 Euro for a glass of juice, coffee and a piece of bread. I happily paid for it. Staff is cool. Gare du Nord is a crazy place, but is really close. The neighborhood is not nice, at night it sucks. There is a great simple sushi place 20 meters from the Hostel and a fantastic Thai restaurant about a block away, totally worth visiting those places.

Hubby and I shared a private room. Is in a great location for arrival and departure. Definitely don't expect a 5 start hotel, this is a hostel. VERY small, but, it was quiet and with expected levels of cleanliness. Front desk staff is very polite. You can put your own food in the fridge, which we did daily and nobody else ate it. 5 stars because they worked with me on the booking dates.

In general is a very good accommodation. The space to take a shower is really tiny, so if someone is a little bit fat I think would not fit there. Wifi was good. I would suggest to assign numbers to the beds, otherwise some new guests would not know which bed is in use and take someone else’s bed (I had mine taken).

My experience was not really good. Check in time is 3pm but I had to wait until 3:30pm for the cleaner to finish her work. One of the staff was not friendly. Small room, no private locker, no private lahm. Pros: Good location, 700ft to Gare du Nord, affordable priced restaurant nearby. Nice kitchen with utensils and some basic free food where u can cook your own meal. Comfort shared room.

We (2 people) stayed there for 2 nights over New Years Eve. We had a private room and everything was very clean. We also used the kitchen, which was well equipped and actually clean, even though a lot of people made their own dishes there. People at reception were very nice and helpful. We were in Paris during the time where all Metros, buses, trains were on strike. People at the recepetion were always available to explain us the best possible transport to take. Very friendly, very central, it is only a few minutes away from Gare du Nord and price-quality ratio is perfect. I would absolutely recomend this placce.

I would say if you want to visit Paris on a budget it is a nice place to stay. Close to public transport, with a lot of restaurants, supermarkets and cafes close. But just as any other small pensions the rooms are small, the quality is not of a 5 star hotels. Anyways the staff is very polite and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there.

I got bed bugs on my stay here, room felt dirty and was extremely small. I wouldn’t recommend staying in the 4 bed dorms. I stayed in 8 hostels that summer and this was by far the worst I stayed in. They did refund me quickly once I showed the staff my bites but overall not a good experience.

Pretty quiet place with a extremely nice Parisian balcony. a bit too quiet for people who wanna go out late at night, but for me it was a great place to stay in.

Good location, friendly staff, but rooms are tiny, beds are old and it's not very clean. The price was good, but I would rather pay few extra euros next time..

I do not highly recommend this Hostel for some reasons: It was my third time in Paris but my first hostel experience. The structure of the hotel is old, noisy place and it isn't cozy. The bedroom was small and tight (4 p) Old and noisy iron beds and old mattresses too. My sheet had characteristics that it was not washed then I preferred to use mine. You can't even move in bed because of the noisy! Bathroom was small, had noisy doors too (going to bathroom at night bothered!) and the cleaning was regular. I had a bug in my bed and got stung by one! The hotel's location is accessible by bus and subway but not a safe place. The staff, some are rude and are not friendly (except these named Quentin, Mona, and another small young girl that work in the morning, unfortunately I forgot her name) they was nice, helpful and friendly 🌷 Unfortunately I will not be returning and will not recommend to anyone. 😑
