If I get to visit Paris again I will 100% stay at this hostel! I was really nervous visiting another country by myself and only knowing a few phrases in French. I was worried about being able to communicate and that people would find me annoying. The staff was so kind and wonderful, I had nothing to worry about. They accommodated my request for a bottom bunk and I was pleasantly surprised to find they had air conditioning, as well as a large window and small terrace in the room! The bed was spacious and very comfortable with a privacy curtain and soft bedding. I wanted to extend my stay but couldn’t due to other travel plans. The atmosphere was wonderful all-around! Showers/toilets were clean and easily accessible. The coffee and breakfast were tasty. The location is great and close to the metro, as well as many cafés. I really hope to return!

Rooms are a little small but bed is comfy. Bathroom and showers were fine, although one toilet for the entire floor is insufficient. Despite the cozy cafe and the very small yet nice rooftop, I didn’t get a feeling of a social vibe at the hostel. It’s poor customer care that you have to pay for a padlock for your locker, and even more that you need to pay extra if you want to store luggage for a few hours before check-in/after check-out. IMO both should be free of charge.

Nice hostel, comfortable beds with light, charger sockets and curtains for privacy. But in the most high bed you need to climb, sometimes I felt like in gym. Rooms was very clean, little but comfortable. Bathroom was very clean also, no queue there. Staff are friendly and help in case of problems, that was nice. There is no kitchen in hostel( but I've had breakfast, dinner and some drinks in bar downstairs. Everything was very tasty and good. Place is crowded with locals and tourists, but is a fun part. However the location didn't feel so safe for me. As a solo female traveler needed to keep my head down and ignore all comments and following on my way back to hostel.

I really liked the vibes at this hostel. Everyone was super cool. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. I recommend getting a bed in a room on the rooftop. Totally worth it for the view and the quieter terrace area. I will definitely stay again in the future.

Being French, I was very reluctant to stay in a hostel in Paris and I’m so happy I did. The place is beautiful, perfectly located. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the rooms are beautiful and squeaky clean. Shoutout to dorm 601 on the roof with sick views. The bed, linens and pillows are also super comfortable. Don’t mind the whining comments about how small the rooms are or the lack of privacy, or the fee for early check in / late check out, you’re in a 40€/night hostel, in Paris! None of this is unusual. If you want a big place of your own, get a 250€/night Airbnb and you’ll get plenty of space and privacy. Definitely a place where I’ll stay again.

Very welcoming staff, Vibrant Atmosphere. The rooms were super clean. They had a rooftop with a nice view. You get one free welcoming drink when you check in. In general perfection!

I stayed in many hostels and I have to say, while I am still here. The People is the best hostel I experienced ever. They have many locations in Paris and this one is til now the best one for me. The staff is incredible friendly, the reception from morning til evening was always very ready to help. The bar of the hostel did their best job and they keep a smile at the guests. A very big hand-clapping at all the staffs, you guys are the best. The People will always be my first choice to stay for their vibe, location and service. Your new regular guest - Vu

Exceptional hostel experience, would stay again. Great for all ages, a laid back crowd and staff, everyone is helpful and friendly. The neighborhood it’s in is great, with plenty of food and drink options. The Tunisian place next door can’t be missed. Also food and drink options in the bar area of the hostel. Easy access to the Metro, as it’s located along the blue (2) line between stops. From there you can get anywhere since it’s such an efficient and well-connected train system. Rooms and common areas are very clean and cleaned often. Bravo!

I had a great stay at this hostel! The staff were so friendly and it felt very safe even as a solo female traveller. The rooms were clean and beds were comfy, but may need to remember to bring a padlock for the locker. Bathrooms and showers were clean - no complaints! The coffee at breakfast was fab and not too expensive. The bar area had a lovely atmosphere and it was easy to meet and chat to new people. Easy to get the metro as two stations a few mins walk away. Thank you!☺️

Honestly it was a great experience. The team is very helpful and sweet. The room had a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. Location was pretty good too, it's a minute away from the subway. Totally recommend!

The good: surprisingly great showers, clean and well organised little bunk beds, warm, clean bathrooms, I slept well. Overall a nice atmosphere and some decent food/bar offers. The bad: it's ridiculous and unpleasant to have to pay for lockers (1€per hour, 5€ for the day), especially with a check in as late as 3pm. The staff (except the short haired woman at the bar who was capable and pleasant) could also all do with an attitude check. The "welcome drink" that's only beer or soda (no tea, coffee, cider, cheap wine...why??) was also disappointing

I had an absolute blast! The beds were comfy and clean, The staff were very polite, they have a great espresso for the early Paris mornings, and the list goes on. Brilliant view from the top! But my favourite part was the live jazz music at the lounge. Amazing, guys! I wanna come back again and again! You are awesome! ps: bring your own padlock for the lockers

One of the first and the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in!! I got the awesome experience to meet a lot of people, listen to great music at their events, and they even have a welcome drink for people who’re staying. The energy is great here and the staff are very helpful! I miss staying the night here. The area is nice, they take safety precautions at night so please be prepared if you’re arriving late. There’s an amazing rooftop for guest also and you can see all of Paris from the illuminating tour de eiffel and also sacre coeur which has lights on it. My room was pretty small but it was nice and the bed was comfortable, I felt so high up haha and I liked the curtains on the bed too to block sun & have privacy. The bathrooms were great, there’s a blow dryer in bathroom.

Check in and checking out went super smooth. Staff are friendly and can speak good English. Rooms and bed was clean and comfy, only thing that would have made it 100% is if there was a long mirror that could fit on the door. Never had to wait to use the bathroom and was really clean. Location is safe enough, close to metro and 20min from Center.

The atmosphere at “The People- Paris Belleville” was amazing! They offered many activities through out the day which was nice to have. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The only issue I had was that the air conditioner was blowing hot air…. All the people who were staying in the same room as us had to open the balcony door and be eaten alive by mosquitos! Other than that it was an awesome experience connecting and becoming friends with other from around the world ! Merci Paris ❤️🫡

Great value for the money! Extremely clean, very helpful and friendly staff, great social atmosphere. Came here as a solo female traveller and felt safe, and met many great people. Loved the rooftop lounge area - you could see the Eiffel Tower sparkle!

You can get a cheap hotel for 20 euros more per night. For me it was not worth it... The bathroom at the first floor was a mess, the hair dryer did not work properly. The reception gave the same number of bed and key to another person that woke me up demanding his bed at 4am... For the facilities its not that cheap.

I was honestly shocked by the street this hostel is at. It's dirty, smelly, and feels like a ghetto. Even though I thought it's gonna be a good part of Paris, I was disgusted to even walk to a grocery store. Meanwhile the street is super busy with cafes, etc like other reviews mention. The hostel is very clean, and staff is very nice, but there is no kitchen or even a fridge to use, which was a big bummer for me. Good thing I was there for 2 nights only. Rooftop is nice.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a good hostel on a budget. My friends and I reserved a private room and shared a bathroom. Everything was clean and felt very safe. The staff is great and the lobby/bar is great for a quick breakfast or wine and games at night meeting new people from all over the world. Thanks for a great stay!

Great welcoming staff, safe and clean accommodations. I had no issues with the neighborhood, metro was a few blocks away. The only issue was that the room was so hot and muggy. I ask that the AC be cooler since it is controlled by the front desk . The air never got cooler , woke up in my sweat two nights in a row. Glad I was leaving the next day cause I couldn’t survive another night .

I had a great experience in here. Rooms are a bit small but very comfortable. Good sound isolation, you won’t hear any noise from outside or corridors. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms are always clean, a lot space in lockers. Bar downstairs up to me just enough social as it should be, not too loud and annoyingly crowded like in some hostels. On weekend there was a Jazz night and dj sets, I enjoyed a lot. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. What else do you need for a great stay?!

Excellent value and location at this hostel, especially with proximity to public transport. Manager Andre and the night staff were notably helpful and friendly. However, the lady staff seemed less enthusiastic. Overall, a great experience with clean facilities. Highly recommend for the price and convenience.

Loved the atmosphere of this place, very juxtaposed to the location. The staff were absolutely lovely and we loved the activities nights like karaoke! Rooms were a bit crowded but beds were good size. 4 min walk to the metro station but the walk itself is a little spooky in the dark, particularly for young female travelers. Always felt happy and safe returning to The People though :)

I only spent one night at the hostel, in an 8-bed room just for girls, and I really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly at check in and out, the cleanliness of the beds and bathroom were also satisfactory. Each bed has two built-in lockers to store your belongings (I left my suitcase there overnight, and had no problems with robbery). They also give a complimentary soft drink/alcoholic drink voucher. At night, the surroundings can be a little intimidating, but just don't be silly and take care of yourself related to pickpockets. There is a metro station a 5-minute walk away which is very useful.

I stayed at a 4-bedroom dorm and overall it was a very decent stay. The bed was spacious and comfy, and having a curtain was definitely a plus. Even though there was only 2 bathrooms and 1 toilet that were shared by the entire floor, I never had to queue which was great. The hostel staff were all very friendly and lovely. The social spaces were also good to meet people. The hostel was very close to 2 metro stations which can get to central in like 20 mins.

I had the most incredible 4-day stay at Hostel The People in Belleville, Paris! From the moment I arrived, I was truly impressed by every aspect of this hostel. First and foremost, the staff were simply exceptional. They greeted me with warmth and enthusiasm, and throughout my stay, they went above and beyond to ensure I had a fantastic experience. Their local knowledge and willingness to help with any questions or concerns made me feel right at home. The management team at Hostel The People clearly takes great pride in their establishment. The hostel was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall comfort of my stay. It's evident that they care deeply about their guests' well-being and comfort. The quality of service I received was top-notch. The reception staff was always attentive and ready to assist, and the common areas were inviting and well-designed. I particularly appreciated the cozy atmosphere that made it easy to connect with fellow travelers. Furthermore, the location in Belleville is fantastic. It's a vibrant and culturally rich neighborhood, with a variety of excellent cafes, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. It truly offers an authentic Parisian experience. I can't say enough positive things about Hostel The People in Belleville, Paris. My stay here exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Thank you to the entire team for making my trip memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Paris and seeking a remarkable and comfortable stay.

Beds are comfortable with curtains for privacy, lights and electric socket. No toilet / bathroom inside the room, but in the same floor. Far from city center but close to metro station, and surrounded by many restaurants and shops. The cost of the bed is very high (around 70 euros per night)

  • 3/5 Lola A. 10 months ago on Google
It needs a proper deep clean. The bathroom shower curtains smelled of mold. The curtains around the bunk beds were dirty, not just stained but stuff that could be scraped off. Needs to be changed and washed. The carpet in the hallway near the bathroom (at least on lvl 3) is disgusting and needs to be changed. Or changing flooring style. I understand that it's Paris, so being dirty and paying alot is the norm in most places. So, if you're not easily grossed out, this is the place for sure. The staff was nice and helpful and the lobby stayed viking with guest and non guest. I appreciated them having and elevator though. I made the most of the time there, but couldn't recommend it because of the filth.

Amazing hostel! I had a private room on the rooftop and the view was INCREDIBLE. Also, they give you a comp drink upon checkin and have a lovely terrace on the street as well as the rooftop.

the nation location is a better hostel but a worse bar (and communal vibe). this one had uncomfortable weirdly high beds and lights that constantly flickered or turned off in the bathrooms. someone rifled through my toiletry bag while I was showering and the weird guy in my room was always asking for weird stuff like snacks or money for laundry etc. love the st martin canal area though even though it's a little trickier to get to the center of the city. around 40 euros a night

  • 4/5 Jillian Z. 4 months ago on Google
The reason why I gave the rooms a 4/5 instead of a 5 is that they are very tight corners. The beds were great, but there isn't a lot of room for 6 people in the room. I also do have to point out I think the bathrooms could be better up-kept. Also, as I was waiting for my Uber to go to the airport, I did see some fury friends running around the lobby/bar area :). The staff was super and really accommodating. The location was ok, the walk to the part of the city was 25 minutes. It is also very far from the Eiffel Tower and Versailles, but the metro is very accessible in the Bellville area. All in all it was an ok experience.

Loved my stay at The People Belleville. All the staff were so great and I had a fantastic time despite a few setbacks. Gilles did not waste any time helping me out. Martin, Alexei, and the other desk staff were so great. Honestly. My first time ever staying at a hostel too, and I genuinely don’t know how it can be topped.

  • 5/5 Leszek S. 10 months ago on Google
I have been in shared 6 bed room with bunk beds. My bed was on top. I liked that the beds had straps and curtains. Bathroom shared in the corridor. Downstairs bar with and extensive cultural programme. Occasionally a DJ with music, but once I hit the Jazz Jam. Sensational. There is luggage storage - for a hand luggage per day 4 EUR. You can rent a towel. Buy a padlock for the locker. Kraft beer - delicious, and it's good! Very safe and the metro is just down the road, line 2. I will be considering this hostel in the future - well worth the money!

Nice place! Good beds and they had curtains to give you some privacy. Bathrooms were clean. Met some nice people during my stay! Ladders to reach the top bunk bed are quite tricky to use and not recommended for everyone. Lockers beneath bed do not come with a lock, these must be purchased separately. Would consider returning!

Would definitely stay again. Location was super close to metro. Staff where quick to respond when dealing with an annoying roommate and overall quite safe for solo travel. Met lovely people and breakfast was great too!

Part hostel, part local bar, co-working space and community toilet. This is a fun, trendy and comfortable hostel. Stayed two nights and very comfortable, I had a four person room with just two of us sharing. The room was great, very nicely air conditioned and the door closed very quietly. Essential when staying in a hostel! This area is becoming more and more trendy, but still has a lot of local flavour. Next door is a great middle Eastern food place which is super cheap and delicious. Breakfast at the hostel costs as little as 3eur Best of all, you can work on your laptop here without fear that a surly Parisian cafe waiter will move you along. Only one tiny negative thing- to store your bag you need to pay for a locker. However, it's secure and costs 4eur for a day. And the system is pleasingly 90s, which was fun. Thanks guys!

Great place to enjoy Paris! - Belleville station is very close - Nice and clean facilities - Super-friendly staff members, very accommodating - Fun people from all over the world, very hip atmosphere.

  • 4/5 Diana Vajd L. 2 years ago on Google
The (tiny with 6 people in it and no extra space at all) female dorm room didn't have a bathroom. To access toilet/sink/shower, you have to get dressed, put on shoes & mask, find the key - there's no other way to get back to the room, of course. Partly because of that, and partly because it's a hostel (:D) it was impossible to sleep at night - all the time someone was coming & leaving, opening zippers, making noises. The staff was very very sweet though! And it's 4m walk to the metro station. I don't think I'd come again because the purpose of coming there was to have a sleep and i didn't get any, so i'll rather look for rooms on airbnb next time.

Loved my stay here! It was very clean and the staff were all lovely. The storage in the rooms is very spacious, and the rooftop terrace is an added bonus. The breakfast is also quite nice! Les Piaules is just a few minutes’ walk away from two metro stations and has multiple restaurants nearby. I would have loved to extend my stay if I could, and definitely recommend it to anyone considering Les Piaules as an option!

Fun hostel with super friendly hosts and people working at the bar. The beds were really comfy. Very well reachable by metro, and watching the sunset from the rooftop is great!! The only thing was that it was a little noisy at night because of the busy street below.

For my first time visiting a hostel, I'm so happy I went to Les Piaules. It was so easy to get to from the station. The rooms were amazing ( 6p female dorm) well thought out. Everyone was friendly from the guests, who come from all across the world to the staff, who are there 24h/7. They are so helpful and chatted wity us. I 100% recommend this place

Currently staying here right now. Great staff from the reception, bar, and cleaning staff. Great energy. Room is clean. There are no TVs or other amenities. Didn't bother me. I just used the room to sleep/nap when I wasn't out. You are in a lively area so can get a bit noisy. Close to public transit. Like not even a five minute walk. Staff speaks English but you should learn some French anyway. The area might scare some first time tourists but you really will appreciate it in time.

  • 4/5 Ken G. 1 year ago on Google
A fun spot to crash, popular with youthful travelers, but serious enough for us senagers to feel welcome and comfortable. Great bed in the double room with bathroom. A bit cramped but doable. They should update the lighting, the bedside lights are nearly as bright as a freight train in the Rockies. Breakfast? Not impressive, the Badass breakfast at 7 euros is nearly indistinguishable from the basic at 3 euros. As far as I can tell, the only addition was an apple and a bowl of cereal with yogurt. Overall, relative to other budget hotels I have tried in Paris, this one is a favorite if only for the large comfortable firm bed.

  • 4/5 Shalabh M. 2 years ago on Google
The place is located in a not so fancy Parisian neighborhood in a bit rundown building, hence the reasonable prices. However the rooms are quite good and well maintained. Bathroom was surprisingly, and thankfully, spotless. The housekeeping isn't done daily but perhaps they'll replace bedsheets upon request. Basic breakfast is just coffee and croissant but the Badass one seemed sufficient. The environment is quite lively with in-house DJ and karaoke events in the night. It's right in the middle of two Metro stations, so no problem with commuting and is surrounded by cafés and restaurants, so no dearth of food options.

  • 4/5 Han V. 2 years ago on Google
Friendly staff, clean rooms, it is a bit cramped, however I was satisfied from what I paid. The roof top terrace is stunning and also the breakfast for 7 euros does the job. It is in a bit of a shanty town area but very close to the metro.

Hey! Room is okay, it’s a bit little, but the beds are great and there’s enough space for the lockers under the beds ;) and air conditioner in the room rocks 🙌 The bathrooms need to be cleaned more frequently… at night & morning they smelled really bad. Besides there are two showers (great btw) and WC per floor, so please guys… Breakfast I’d have prefered to have variety over quantity. Specially when you stay over 3 nights, you want to eat more than croissants, pan au chocolait or just bread (not even cheese or eggs available 👎) Anyway, great stay. Thanks!

Ok hostel. Two of us stayed in a private room for 4 days in April 2022. Bed was super comfy and they cleaned our room everyday and rooms included espresso machine which was a plus. Otherwise wouldn’t say the hostel is inviting, very noisy weekends and staff aren’t all that helpful or kind, wouldn’t recommend for solo travellers. The area is great for not being too far from the centre but can be very busy and rowdy also.

It was my first time staying in a hostel and I loved the experience! Staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean (at least the one I had). The bar floor has a space that gives you a chance to meet other travelers which is amazing. Two of the metro stations are a few minutes walking distance from the hostel and you can find restaurants/ markets nearby. The only thing you should keep in mind is that the hair dryers weren’t working at all. But still, recommended! 🧡

My stay here was very good. I lived in a 8 bedroom dormitory. It's a great place to meet young people. There is also karioke every night. It's very lively. Also, the staff was very polite. All of them very helpful and kind.

Amazing place!!! Very comfortable beds with nice curtains, lamps, and lockers for each. The communal bathrooms were very clean and modern and the water pressure in the showers was amazing. The common area downstairs is very social and they host great events (karaoke Mondays :)). There’s also a patio out back and a terrace with views of the city, including the Eiffel Tower! Everyone who works there is super helpful and kind. You really feel welcomed! It was a great stay, overall. Oh and one last thing, the €8 lunch/dinner croque monsieurs are great and BIG! 3 sandwich-halves plus a salad.

The hostel is extremely clean and the staffs are very friendly. Rooms are small but clean. You can draw the curtain of the bed and have your own privacy. Breakfast was reasonably priced.

  • 5/5 Hannah 2 years ago on Google
I had such a fantastic time here! It's a very sociable hostel, despite the fact that there is no common room or shared kitchen. The view from the roof is great, you can see the Eiffel tower and the sacré coeur. My room even had a balcony! Beds are big and tall enough that you can sit up. Curtains around beds are a bonus too. The only negative is that the bathroom light is on a timer which also controls the lights in the shower cubicles, so every time I had a shower I got plunged into darkness halfway through 😂 so it would be great if there were light sensors in the shower cubicles too 🙏 thanks for making my time in Paris so much fun!!!

Had an amazing 4 nights at The People - Paris Belleville. Excellent location, so convenient to get the metro to anywhere in town in 1 or 2 trips. Shout out to Kirra who was amazing help, recommend bars for live music, restaurants, things to do etc. Great common room area downstairs and met more fellow solo travellers here than at any other hostel on my 3-week Europe trip.

  • 4/5 Christina D. 1 year ago on Google
The staff were friendly at the reception and at the bar. The room was ok, but it had a weird smell. It makes a sense since there are 6 different people. The toilet was cleaned. There is only one for each floor. The hairdryer didn’t work so I had to go to the upper floor. The lunch/dinner was delicious. (Especially the Caesar salad, I order 4 times). Also the breakfast was delicious. You had two choices. I’m not quite sure of the location. It’s not so safe for the females especially if you are a solo traveller but it’s not a problem of the hostel. It’s 2min waking distance for the nearest metro station. Overall I had a pleasant stay. Merci

Had a great stay, met nice people. They had rain showers I mean 🤤 location was very good! Maybe not the cleanest but it's a hostel... 🤷🏼‍♀️ would definitely recommend!

  • 4/5 Tom T. 1 year ago on Google
Stayed for 3 nights in a 6 bed dorm. Great, quiet rooms with good beds and curtains for privacy. The bar downstairs is nice and does a decent breakfast and food. Only downsides are there is no kitchen and no cooking facilities at all which is odd for a hostel and only one toliet for an entire floor is not enough. Decent location with easy metro lined to the centre. Overall a good experience staying here.

The staff are all really nice and friendly. The room and bathroom were always all clean and set. The location is amazing, about 20-40min using the public transport to the main tourist attractions. I definitely recommended it 🤩

A really lovely hostel- very welcoming staff and lovely breakfast for a very reasonable price. The rooms were super clean and kept really nicely. Really nice evening activities too! I was a solo female traveller of 20 yrs old and I found the vibe to be friendly and safe inside the hostel. My only issue was that it could feel a bit dangerous around the area at night, and I knew one girl got her phone taken from her hand by a pickpocket as she was coming out of the hostel. But overall as long as you’re vigilant and keep your eyes open, it’s a nice area to explore.
