I
love
Motel
One
and
have
stayed
in
many
over
the
years.
I’ve
noticed
there
is
a
spectrum
in
quality
with
some
being
better
than
others.
Dresden
Zwinger:
wonderful,
Dresden
Neustadt:
on
the
high
end
of
just
ok,
Hamburg
Altona:
almost
wonderful,
Rostock
city
center:
the
worst
yet.
Upon
entry
the
lobby
felt
under
utilized
and
unwelcoming.
It
didn’t
have
any
of
the
usual
charm
and
welcoming
that
I’ve
come
to
expect
in
a
Motel
One
lobby.
One
of
the
things
I’ve
always
liked
about
Motel
One
was
the
common
area
lobby
that
truly
felt
welcoming,
and
like
a
place
somebody
should
want
to
have
a
drink
and
a
conversation,
or
read
a
book.
This
was
not
that.
I
took
the
elevator
up
to
my
room,
and
walked
down
a
hot
and
muggy
hallway,
arriving
at
my
room.
Upon
entering
I
realized
the
room
I
had
been
given
overlooked
a
busy
street,
and
was
also
uncomfortably
warm.
The
room
was
blasted
by
sunlight,
and
opening
a
window
to
cool
it
down
was
the
only
option
because
our
AC
seemed
not
to
work.
I
went
down
to
the
lobby
and
asked
about
the
air
conditioning.
They
said
“we
would
have
to
turn
it
on
for
the
whole
building.
So
we
haven’t.”
Referring
to
the
system
that
allows
guests
to
turn
on
and
off
their
AC
themselves
at
the
room
level.
Instead
it
was
off,
according
to
the
desk,
for
everybody.
Ok…
but
it
is
listed
as
a
standard
amenity
on
the
the
Rostock
Motel
Ones
room
description.
As
a
result
we
had
to
sleep
with
our
windows
open
to
keep
the
room
from
overheating.
The
noise
of
a
Friday
and
Saturday
night
as
young
people
enjoyed
their
evenings
woke
us
up
repeatedly
resulting
in
two
terrible
nights
of
sleep.
Something
that
could
have
been
avoided
had
they
delivered
on
their
own
amenity
promises.
The
breakfast
was
ok,
but
on
the
expensive
side.
I
would
recommend
guest
go
to
the
much
cheaper
and
in
my
opinion
tastier
Cafe
Paula
rather
than
the
one
at
the
motel.
I
haven’t
stayed
in
a
Motel
One
since
before
the
pandemic
began.
My
fear
is
that
this
one
represents
cost
cutting
changes
across
the
entire
company.
Compromises
that
make
me
think
I
should
have
spent
just
a
few
more
euros
and
gotten
a
room
at
a
nicer
hotel.
