It’s not just a gym here, it’s a family. I’ve been a member of larger gyms, the ones where you’re frowned at for not lifting heavy, laughter behind your set, etc… and this place makes me feel SO welcome every time. The PTs are genuinely happy to see you when you enter. On top of that, I’ve never been fitter than my first stint at HRF. Through PT sessions and just general support I felt incredible (and even broke the 20 minute 5k!) all down to this lovely little family gym. I’ve now embarked on a large weight loss goal and no doubt they will all be there every day, or when I need. 10/10 value. 10/10 staff. 10/10 fitness.

Let me start this review by saying I am not a “gym goer”. I see a treadmill and run in the opposite direction… slowly. BUT, a couple of years ago my wife persuaded me to give Ryan at HRF a go, and try a PT session. Honestly, I haven’t looked back. Understanding your fitness motivation, style and ethos (or in my case, lack there of), was the priority for him. Understanding how each of his clients react to different styles of motivation is just one of the million things that make Ryan and HRF as a whole, awesome. You rock up at some ungodly hour, tired and quite honestly a little grumpy, and within 2 minutes you’re laughing, ready to work hard, and leave feeling instantly better. Whilst Ryan got me hooked, it’s the whole team. Will has never trained me, yet instantly makes me feel welcome and pumped. Plus Murph (his dog) gives the best post-workout cuddles! Ollie always says hi, and if you want it, there is cross PT session banter galore! It’s a real community. Not wanting to waffle on too much, there are two other things more I’d like to mention. 1. Ryan is a qualified sports massage therapist and honestly, being 36 trapped in what feels like a 70year old body, he’s been a god send. Injury after injury, he’s fixed me. 2. Unfortunately we moved a little further away, that coming regularly to my PT sessions hasn’t been possible. But that’s no blocker! With their app, they are able to provide you plans and sessions to do home work outs (or at alternative gyms if you have access), with everything you could possibly need to keep going - down to the number of reps, rest between sets, videos on how to if a new exercise, and those all important reminders to get to it if you’re feeling a little lazy. It really is the full package at HRF. Best decision I ever made listening to the wife (not just on this!), and if you’re looking for something entertaining- challenge Ryan to a game of golf !! Thanks HRF team - you have something special going on.

I have been coming to HRF for the last few months and have absolutely loved it. Ive done those commercial gyms but hated it and thought it was just because I didnt like exercise. Turns out it was actually because I was not at the right gym. I attend all the groups Fortitude, Thumpers and Bootcamp and could not recommend them enough, they are hard, hard work but you have so much fun as well. Both Will and Ryan who run the classes are always on hand if you need any help or will adapt the exercise so its personal to you and if your ever unsure or anxious they are always there encouraging and supporting you. Ive had a few issues with calorie counting and Ive messaged Will and his always been on hand with kind words, support and looking for ways to help me. I could not recommend this gym anymore if I tried. Thank you Will and Ryan for changing my lifestyle and for being there!!

I joined HRF in December 2022 shortly after moving to the area from London. I was heavily pregnant at the time and really just wanted to keep moving safely. Will and Ryan were so welcoming and helpful and made me feel safe and at ease training whilst pregnant. Fast forward to post baby and again feeling safe and looked after with genuine interest in my and my little ones well being and the best bit was being able to bring baby with me to the gym - an absolute game changer for new mums who want to keep moving! Thanks all x

Great atmosphere, great coaches, classes are fun and challenging week by week. I've been seeing Ryan for well over 2 years in a mixture of group, duo and solo training sessions. He is brilliant, I always have a blast going to do my workouts! Being with HRF has really kept me motivated to keep up with my fitness goals, it is genuinely the longest I have stuck with a fitness routine in my life. Also, Murph (Will's Border Collie) is always happy to see you when you come in and keeps you motivated with his chatting!

Will, Ollie and Ryan have something very special at HRF. I can vouch for this having been a member of many fitness establishments over my 56years. Firstly I would like to say (and not lightly) that my 6 months at HRF has been lifechanging. Joining in May has been the best decision I have possibly ever made for my health and wellbeing. Engaging with Ollie as my PT has been the best thing I have done this year (and it’s been an awesome year all round, so that’s a big thing). I have been active all of my life, but hitting my 50’s was a rather big shock for me …. form, strength, bone density and flexibility suddenly (and it was suddenly) start to decline. I am ‘on the go’ always (driving most people around me mad!) but I felt sluggish, my running times were rubbish, hiking (which feeds my soul) was harder, my skiing this year was tougher. And this for me was a real blow psychologically (which I now can see was actually quite profound). I was really keen to sort it out but didn’t know how, had taken a little bit of PT during Covid but I didn’t really get much benefit. I had googled HRF a few times and was really attracted to how it seemed to be friendly and inclusive. The reviews were exceptional. I then e mailed Will and got the warmest response back, non pushy, professional and kind. It felt 100% right and I got a call from Ollie (did he know what he was taking on???!!!). And again, professional, knowledgable, positive and kind. The journey started. I was very nervous. I knew these guys trained athletes (because they are the best in this industry, so no surprise there) and I clearly imagined I would be the random ‘old lady’ amongst these high performing sportsmen/women. Well …. there are super amazing athletes there, but they are all humble, lovely folk, because that is what Will’s culture attracts. There are also folk that look like me! And even another Northerner!!! And Murphy the dog (who runs the show!). It is a serious entity as all 3 of the professional trainers are super experienced, super qualified and above all, 100% client orientated. They literally put heart, soul and their brilliance into every minute spent training us. But that is where the ‘serious’ element stops, because HRF gym is the friendliest, most inclusive, warm, energising, welcoming place. A real family feel, genuine too. Clients are friends, age ranging from young teens to 90s, everyone chatty and smiley (other than me doing jump squats!!!). It is a very very special place and unique in it’s specialness. Now, Ollie Crees, my wonderful (read patient!) personal trainer. I have no words to sufficiently express my thanks to him. Going back to the start of this review, he has changed my life. I have never stuck to a gym training schedule and in all my adult life and gym visits, I have never looked forward to them, granted you always feel better after exercise, but looking forward to the gym is something new. I also get a little panicky when I know i am away and will miss a few sessions. Ollie has very cleverly put together a programme for my specific needs and it has been an organic and comfortable journey, but the results have been profound. My new strength, health and fitness has helped every aspect of my life. I have a very demanding job (which I love but it demands a high level of resilience), this has helped me so much with work related stress. I lost my precious Mum having nursed her, the year before, Ollie’s work has helped me process this huge loss. It has helped my head so much. But above all, I feel ‘myself’ again, which is incredible. And I feel healthy and up for anything in this precious life we have. Hiking is easy and enjoyable again and I can’t wait to ski strong this season. So I have a lot to thank HRF and Ollie for, and I know the other members there feel the same, they are all so lovely too. And it is obvious that this magic has been cultivated by Will who owns HRF, who is literally the nicest human ever! Join the ‘club’. It will (1 million %} be a GREAT decision. Linda xx

I joined HRF after returning from Australia in October 2021 at 117kg. Through the help of every member of staff and some PT sessions with coach Ford I am sitting at 104kg and feeling the best I’ve ever felt. They ensure you feel part of a community rather than just a gym and really go the extra mile for their members. Honestly made some great pals here and would not look anywhere else when it comes to my fitness. Cheers lads, you’re all awesome 💪🏻

Absolutely love going here for PT, Ollie is great and takes everything you say on board for each session. Gym is friendly and supportive and you’re never made to feel you can’t do something. Would always recommend to a friend.

Joined this gym after moving from London and wanted something local but was super surprised in how lovely everyone is and they have such an amazing community. The weekly gym classes are so good and really test you (I used to do hardcore insanity London workouts and these are on par with them especially Monday eve and Saturday bootcamp) They are so welcoming but what I love the most is it’s so good to go and do a work out with out having to wait for equipment or being overcrowded. A breath of fresh air. A wonderfully friendly, intimate and motivational environment to hit your fitness goals. Will and the team are really inspiring and committed and would highly recommend the PT sessions! Definitely invaluable to getting me ‘back on the horse’ fitness wise and couldn’t have done it without them all. Great fun too!

Brilliant facilities, brilliant location and brilliant coaches. HRF has all the gear you need to get fitter plus the support and encouragement of a welcoming community. I’ve never walked into this gym without a coach or other member saying hello with a massive smile.

👍 It's fun but very tiring. A very good work out. We spent about 3 hours climbing the different walls they had, I am not as fit as I used to be and this really showed me how unfit I am. They can supply you with the climbing shoes if you need them. I suggest wearing light clothing, I only own jeans an...
