Good Place in Myanmar Sagaing Region. The Sitagu Association of Myanmar, headed by the venerable Thegon Sayadaw, began construction on Sitagu International Buddhist Academy in 1994 with the aim of propagating the Three-fold Saddhamma of scriptural study (pariyatti), Buddhist practice (patipatti) and realization of the Dhamma (patipvedha) in the contemporary world. More specifically, with this project the Sitagu Association has set out to build a world-class educational institution designed to provide undergraduate and graduate level training in Buddhist Studies and related academic subjects to qualified monks, nuns and laypersons. Aims of the Academy Taking the Bodhisatta's career as a model, Sitagu International Buddhist Academy was established with three overall objectives in mind: To strive for personal welfare through self-development and the cultivation of knowledge (attatthacariya), To strive for the welfare of kin, friends and associates (natatthacariya), and To strive for the welfare of all people regardless of race, creed, nationality or gender (lokatthacariya). In the spirit of these three goals, the activities of Sitagu International Buddhist Academy will be directed towards Revealing the reality and truth of Dhamma, Delivering Dhamma through cultural activities, Delivering Dhamma through moral education, Cultivating the noble seed of Dhamma in the human heart, Promoting humanitarian activities through Dhamma, Eliminating negativity through Dhamma, and Purifying the mind through Dhamma.

Very clean and nice Buddhist studies centre. We went there on the way to Mingun and found this place to be very clean, attractive and pleasant. Didn't enter the inside of the building, only had a round around it and really loved the place.

This academy has been founded by most respected venerable Sitagu Sayadaw in 1996. The most interesting part in here is the mixture architecture found inside and outside of the main building. Plus, hundred of Buddha statues representing different periods are also outstanding. While it is open to everyone, you can only see inside of the main hall if you know someone from the academy.

Beautiful place in Sagaing. Venerable Ashin Sitagu Sayadaw established this academy. It's near Mandalay. This academy is providing Buddhist studies for students from local and outside of Myanmar. Some monk residences around that big size pagoda. Such a peaceful place to stay and study.

Definitely not your average looking pagoda. The very ornate building of the International Buddhist Academy will attract your attention from a distance. It's ignored by most, including your guide who won't include it on the list of the many pagodas that you will visit in the region. That means that you have the place for yourself and can spend as much or as little time as you wish visiting. Worth the detour.

A massive hall where Dhamma Seminars are conducted. The hall isn't open to the public so it was a great opportunity to visit the place where you have only seen on the screens. And the Eight Wonders of the Buddhist Doctrine are inscribed on the walls.
