Eighty Three Bar Arcade

Bar

😠 I love the concept of a retro bar, but it needs better management. -Arcade controls are slightly broken and the machines are not sanitized -It's almost $10 for a drink that has less volume than a can of pop, -If you're wearing a mask and away from people you will be told you can't dance -The amount... People often mention games, play, music, atmosphere, night, good, free,

Update: I was speaking with the bar owner (Mark) the next day after a quick response to my review. He went out his way to apologize about my experience and to make things more than right, I could ask for no more. Mark is a very respectful owner and I will 100% be back with friends to experience more of the Bar Arcade atmosphere on my next trip to the city! Original: Chill bar, bartender was very nice. Drinks were pricey. Unfortunately, went outside for 15 minutes to smoke and when trying to re-enter the bouncer tried to charge cover. Wouldn't even ask the bartender if I was there already. I was told "it's the owners rules, not up to the bartender." Went next door to bigtide to finish my night, great place with friendly staff

I always have a blast here! Whether we're meant to or not, I always wond up finding a spot and making it my personal dance floor because the soundtrack is always bangin'. The drinks are delicious, the atmosphere is pure fun and nostalgia, and the skee ball to wind up the night was a total blast. Unlike many other spots when I go out for a fun night, I don't feel old here. It appeals to a wide age range and a vast array of patrons, and I love that! Thanks for always being my favourite pitstop in The John! ❤

Very rude bouncers. There was a issue in the bathroom before we arrived, when I went to use the bathroom the bouncer refused to allow me to close the door and stared at me while I went. Very in appropriate I recommend changing security company’s. I really enjoy the place but I’m not going to go if the people I’m charge of security are power tripping in such a way.

Great place to grab a beer. We had a good experience going there. The arcade concept is realy fun. Arcade are free to play and the music match the retro time The. Staff is super chill. Comme after 23h if you wanna see the place full.

If your not ready to go hard on the dance floor but still want to listen to some awesome music with a chill vibe, Eighty Three Bar Arcade would be perfect. It was a great way to start the night off and you get to play some pretty cool arcade games.

A unique experience but one that gets old quickly. The fusion of arcade and bar is, in my opinion, fundamentally flawed in that one is highly social and the other is pseudo-social. Fun if you're there alone or if your group is there for the music and not the games. They nailed the atmosphere and the business model though. Eighty three definitely delivers on what they promise.

We had an amazing time in this place! There is no cover charge and the games are free if you buy a drink. Bartender was super nice. They have lots of vintage games and they play 80s and 90s music.

Went on a Sunday night and this place was happening! They had $5 beers and unlimited game play. Not to mention sweet 90s music video hits on a projector haha pretty sweet spot.

Super fun blast from the past, and a different atmosphere from what you normally get in the uptown area. Most games are free to play, with the exception of the pinball machines. Great beer on tap, and friendly service. Great for a night out with friends.

Quite a fun time. We got a pile of coins from the machine only to find out most machines don't require money. Pinball does. Mortal Kombat did to start a game but endless continues after that. I understand they expect to make money on the alcohol. But I only went for the games and left with a pocket full of useless cpins

Had fun! Interesting atmosphere with the club dance party and video games. It says "Buy a drink and play free" about half of the games are not free, so that was kind of lame. But a good time, and good selection of retro arcade games.

I'm giving this a 4.5 stars. Great concept, some of the games could use some TLC. Beer prices seem on par with the area. I've only gone early in the evening so it's never been busy, which is fine with me as I go for the games. Staff has been very friendly both times I've been there. Whenever I'm in Saint John, I make a point of stopping in!
