Royaumont abbey is nowadays the best-preserved Cistercian abbey in the region of Paris. The entrance fee goes from $10 (full price) to $7.5 (kids under 18, students under 26, families with over 3 children). Some may think that the price is a bit much but you can see for yourself that every cent is invested in the conservation of the buildings as well as the development of cultural activities/exhibitions/concertsyetc... It is accessible to wheelchairs. There are guided tours on weekends or you can walk around by yourself as there are numerous explanatory panels. It is about 50 minutes outside of Paris so there is plenty of parking and quietness. Though I would advise that you call ahead to check that there are no school visits planned the day you are going: having children running around may not be the way you want to discover and enjoy this place. There are a hotel and a restaurant if you want to stay for a couple days. The website is really well done (and bilingual!): you will find all the informations you need. My personal favorite: the medieval garden! Enjoy!☺

I had no word to describe this amazing place and full of history. Location will disconnect you from the city life. I had the opportunity to sleep one night and enjoy the bar area with friends. The room by itself is an experience!

I did not sleep at the abbey, but came for a company event (200+ people) for dinner. The spot is magnificent, organizations was great and the restaurant location was just amazing, right in the church part. Deco was plot to perfection and all the menu was excellent. Service was top as well, so I can only highly recommend the place from an event&culinary perspective.

There's magic in this place, perhaps History can explain, the abbey goes back to Louis the 9th, also known as the Saint King, buildings are romantic, you enter what used to be the monks' kitchen and your caught under the charm.

The abbey impressed us, but the impression was spoiled by the staff ignoring us in the cafe on the territory of the abbey, as soon they realized we're not French.

A beautiful tranquil location. It appears to be a mini-conference space. The streams, ponds and canals provide stunning reflections of the grounds and buildings. It is so peaceful. The grounds and vegtable 'allotments' and sculptures are well worth exploring.

The abbey is wonderful to visit for an afternoon. You’ve got plenty of space to chill, especially when you have a sunny day. And it’s easy to park. The shop offers many nice goodies and books related to the middle age. And the staff is smiling. If you’re considering making an event, such as a seminar or a wedding, that’s a good place to be. They are professional about planning events, so I definitely recommend it.

The Abbey is a real beauty. The gothic design and the serene atmosphere of the park enchant the soul. It’s a real treasure that is well preserved. I was attending a wedding and the abbey create a unique atmosphere and create an unforgettable experience.

Great place, wonderful meals, great SPA, karaoke, flipper and many others. Beautiful park, you can use bikes and visit whole neighborhood. It's quite expensive but I recommend it for any seminars.

Even on a wet Sunday, there are many interesting things to see as well as attending the musical performances. Accessible from Paris by Transilien line H to Viarmes, where a shuttle bus can be booked on the Abbey website. Bythe

A very nice place to stay for a workshop. Convincing combination of preserving the old monument and providing up-to-date standard. Large rooms, good food.

An extraordinary lunch prepared by an exquisite and enthusiastic chef using fresh local ingredients --- C'est magnifique! The 13th century Abbaye was used as the site of the Scottish Womans Hospital more than 100 years ago to recuperate soldiers of the Great War who were wounded on the front, our grandfather among them. The history overwhelms while the ambiance delights and the flavor excites. We fully recommend Royaumont Abbey as a must-do experience for anyone in the area.
