I visited Gran Canaria at the end of August. I booked a "discovery" dive (uncertified/noobs) by accident. I had filled out an online form, so when I got there, 2x they asked me if I knew it was a discovery dive. They were worried I wouldn't enjoy the experience due to lots of gesturing and safety precautions that occur with inexperienced divers. I wasn't looking for anything too intense, so I decided to stay in the class and listen to the safety briefing and instruction for the divers with little-to-no experience. I'll cut to the chase: These people are very safe, their briefing was the best I've ever heard for any skill level, and they know how to help newbies overcome their water and breathing fears. Best of all, they charge reasonable fees and are genuinely nice! I had such a great time with them that the fact that the dive was a beginners' dive didn't matter. They are a great dive crew, and their practices are great for beginners and seasoned divers alike. I'm going out with them every time I'm here.

My Son Jack (13) had a fantastic dive experience:-) Although Jack has dived before we found Sophie ticked all the boxes with a clear yet detailed demonstration of the equipment and some excellent direction on how to stay safe and have a memorable experience.. James too took a great interest in all the participants giving genuine interaction to ensure everyone got the most from their trip. Brilliant. Hubby and I both did a discovery dive. Sophie was amazing with the booking. Explaining everything including being very understanding in the lead up. We had to change day due to post virus coughing! The day was brilliant. Facilities, equipment and the diving all fab. The instructor made efforts to continually check safety and understanding. We both felt very safe. Saw lots of sea life too. Def don’t hesitate. A professional and super friendly service. We will be back.

I had emailed other dive centres before I contacted League's Ahead by whatsapp. Almost instant response and from there Sophie handled the booking, answering all of my questions. Nothing was a problem. In the space of less than an hour (I was working, or it would have been quicker) we had arranged dates, pick up times, health forms, and shared insurance/licence details as well as a short history of diving. I hadn't dived since 2018 so opted for a refresher dive before 3 main dives. And was pleasantly surprised by the cost (incl equipment) And then I did nothing until the day of the dive. I was picked up as agreed and taken to the dive centre. All of my equipment was looked out and waiting for me to try by size. Normally I do this when I arrive and it takes time. I am also usually quite nervous meeting people.....not this time. From there the van was loaded (each person has a blue IKEA bag with their name on it) and we were taken to the dive site where we split into groups. Some were snorkeling, I was on refresher for dive 1 and others on a regular dive. Dive briefing was clear and informative and I was talked through the skills I need to do. The dives themselves were excellent. A lot to keep the eyes distracted. I had an issue with the prescription mask I had brought with me. Not an issue for League's Ahead. A spare was taken and I changed over. After the dives we changed and all of the equipment was loaded into the van. And we got dropped back at our hotels.....this is the first dive centre I haven't cleaned my own equipment. I was impressed! 2nd day of diving was the same. The welcome and genuine feeling of being cared for got me through a tired start. Sophie and James were on hand to look after us. 2nd dive site was incredible. Plenty of life and interesting rocks to swim round and through. Caves aren't my thing but they are there for those who want to explore. Some highlights ***Booking...so simple. You know that vibe you get when something is good? I had that in message one! Thank you Sophie ***Communication. I didn't send more messages after I booked, but one of the other divers booked on the day before, which is usually a day off, rapid response. ***Friendliness.....off the scale! Everyone associated with League's Ahead was warm, welcoming and interested in you. ***Safety.....this is a top priority. Forms are ready, checks are done. I had some issues with nerves on the refresher....not a problem. Surface and time to relax. ****Staff.....I don't recall all of the names. James and Sophie are the owners. They are both incredible people. Shout out to Ethan who supported me in the refresher as part of his Dive Master course. All of the staff are amazing. They will ensure you are well looked after and safe. And James took loads of photos and video clips, which I had the same day via WhatsApp. My family were so excited when I sent them back home! Thank you! I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. The marine life is there in abundance, I had an idea of what to expect. Leagues Ahead have absolutely nailed the customer experience. Their knowledge of the area is incredible. I wasn't sure I would go back to Gran Canaria for a holiday, but this experience makes me think differently. It was definitely a highlight of my holiday. And lastly....thank you to my fellow divers. The friendliness you all showed made this an unforgettable experience.

A MUST VISIT! I always forget to write reviews so the fact I’m writing this means it was great! I’ll start with the positives and then list the negatives :) Transport: Pickup was on time, instructors (Kyle & James) very welcoming and friendly whilst on route chatting with everyone on board. Upon arrival met Sophie & Paulo at reception also very friendly, tried wetsuits, boots on etc and then travelled to the dive site (roughly 20-25minutes). Instructions: Once we arrived at site James talked us through everything we needed to know very thoroughly ! A lot to take in but he did it in a way in which you remembered everything and with the recap at the end you had full confidence before you enter the water. I was lucky enough due to group size to just have me and Kyle diving due to there being two other couples who went with Kyle & Pauli (2 people per diver). We got into the water and ran through the training drills that we had discussed before hand to ensure I was used to the water, calm and to access whether I was competent enough to go to some of the deeper spots (a 12m limit for first time divers). The dive itself Being with just Kyle was a great experience, he was always near by monitoring things but ensuring I was free to explore and look around, pointing various things out and guiding me along the ocean bed ! After roughly 35-45 minutes (depending on oxygen levels which depends on how heavy and regularly you breath etc we returned to the surface). I asked Kyle how deep we got, as I felt as if we were probably around the 6m mark but it turns out we went to 11.8m basically the limit, but because of how relaxing and well planned the route we took etc you didn’t even notice! After the dive we all took a breather and discussed each others dives and experience there was another female instructor with a snorkelling group (didn’t catch her name) but she was also super friendly and fun! The instructors went through there groups with a little booklet showing the names of the sea life they saw down below and then we all packed up and got on the journey back to our hotels ! Negatives! There’s absolutely NONE! the only thing that could even be considered a negative would be if you were super unlucky and managed to now see any sea life, but that’s at the hands of the ocean and not the team ! They plan a very great route trying to give the best chance possible to see what the ocean has to offer :) but even so just the experience of diving is amazing itself. I’ve tried to condense the review & not make any spelling mistakes or forget names (failed miserably) but genuinely there is so many positives and for the price and the staff themselves they deserve more than 5* ! Would genuinely say you have to try this at least once if you are in the area ! <3

I used leagues ahead diving this morning with my cousin and we had a blast! Not only did we see lots of cool fish, we learnt so much about the equipment and the best diving techniques. Both James and Sophie were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Even though I was a complete beginner, I felt so relaxed and super safe with their guidance and help. I can’t wait to go out again! 🐠

1st time diving in Gran Canaria and what an amazing experience it was!😍 - Only wonderfull staff @ the diving school. - We got picked up @ and brought back to the hotel. (Thank you SÓ much Ilze you're amazing!💯💪🙌) - Got advised to join on 2 dives on one of the most beautifull sites of Gran Canaria As soon as we arrived at the diving school you could really feel the passion all the staff members shared towards making your experience sublime The synergy they have made the the tour and even the paperwork feel like a walk through the park even after all these years without diving! And after a short time we were heading towards Taufi to go and explore & enjoy the underwater world of Gran Canaria. Since it was my 1st time diving in 10 years (I got disconnected from my diving family for a long time due to complications in my life) i had to do a refreshment course. James showed us the dive site from up above while he briefed us about what to expect & filled us all in about the needs to have a perfectly safe and enjoyable dive💪💯🙌 Together with Sophie💪🙌💯 (our instructor for the day) and Jenny (my diving buddy for the day) we went through the gear preparation and in no time we were heading down the slope towards the beach. As it all came back to me i started to feel emotional and realised how much i had missed the feeling of being part of the diving community and how wonderfull it is to be there with the fish & your friends. Diving creates bonds verry fast after all. During the 2nd dive we went a little deeper and got to visit the swim through cave with a little suprise hiding for us inside (you will have to join them for a dive to find out what is was though because i will not spoil it😁) We saw a lot of sea life including octopus, baracuda's and some of us even saw a seahorse🦄 But this is not what made these dives the most enjoyable. It was the people and the fun we had, the passion we all shared and the politeness of everyone, the emotions and the bonds we created even though we were strangers. A memory that will last for ever with awesome people, a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ dive school in a country i had never visited before! Thank you all so much Sophie, Ilze, Elsa and James for giving me this experience!❤

I recently had the privilege to learn scuba diving through Leagues Ahead Center a PADI center in Maspalomas, and the whole experience was nothing short of phenomenal. Right from the get-go, Sophie, who coordinated the program, was incredibly organized and always reachable, making the process seamless. The instructors, James and Paulo, were fantastic. James was extremely patient, attentive, and supportive throughout the training, which eased my nerves and made learning fun. On the other hand, Paulo's vast knowledge made the training educational and engaging, a perfect combination for anyone looking to learn scuba diving. Jarod, who assisted in the background, was great and always there when needed, adding an extra layer of support that enhanced the overall learning experience. And of course, the days wouldn't have been complete without Emile's delightful coffee (also an instructor), which kept us energized and ready to dive into the day's adventures. The logistical arrangements were top-notch, with hassle-free pickup from the hotel and a favorable student-teacher ratio that ensured personalized attention and ample opportunity to have all our questions answered. Amazing experience. We had Emil as our guide and he was absolutely brilliant. It was our first time diving and he really was patient and taught us the right techniques and skills to relax. Amazing organization and impeccable service. A great thanks to Sophie, she is brilliant.

🤩 Absolutely perfect from start to finish 🤩 Super-professional with exceptional communication, Sophie and James really go out of their way to ensure their customers have a great experience, including very kind flexibility to get me to the dive site that I was most keen to see… and it absolutely lived up to the hype! 🙏 As you can tell from their website, they know the locations inside out, and their attention to detail shows in every aspect of their services. I’m already an Advanced Open Water diver, but would STRONGLY recommend doing a course with them if you’re considering it. Leagues ahead diving was the most fun experience of our vacation. It started with excellent communication at the beginning with James who answered all our questions through the phone. Ben was the best instructor we could have wished for. He is patient and gives clear instructions. I was a slow learner and he made me feel confident by being so professional. We did lots of research looking at other diving centres too, but I’m glad we chose this one. I don’t know how the experience could have been better. I wish these guys the best of luck sharing their passion and for anyone having doubts: don’t miss this amazing opportunity. I fear enclosed spaces/no oxygen and if I can do it, you can do it too🙌🏼🐠

I went diving for the first time after 11 years (when I got my license) together with my boyfriend who had never dived before. We both had a great time diving with Leagues Ahead. Very enthusiastic people, clear instructions, good equipment and they gave us a lot of freedom underwater. Thanks to Leagues Ahead, we're both very exited to dive a lot more often in the future.

I had the pleasure of diving during a recent trip to Gran Canaria with Leagues Ahead and would highly recommend them. They took my partner, 13 year old son and myself on a try dive. The whole experience was amazing from start with organising the booking incredibly simple and being picked up from our hotel on the day. The dive was brilliant and conducted in a very relaxed and professional way by Paulo and Kyle. My partner was particularly nervous about the dive but was patiently supported the entire time by Kyle. It's safe to say that had it not been for him she may not have done it. You couldn't ask for more. Amazing!

Had an incredible time doing the open water course with Paulo. He went above and beyond, adjusting the course based on my vacation schedule. Very knowledgeable - I felt comfortable the entire time. Great experience. Communication with Sophie was incredible as well. :)

In my short time as a diver Leagues Ahead are the best dive centre I have had the privilege to dive with. They genuinely make you feel like part of the family. I am gonna be careful what I say now as I know the L.A.D of the month is awarded on the basis of the reviews but I had the pleasure to dive mostly with Paulo who was an amazing Dive Master. Relaxed and attentive and with an amazing eye for wildlife. James a consummate professional who you feel immediately at ease with both in and out the water. And it is impossible not to mention Sophie holding it altogether back at the centre. Her attention to detail, customer and kit care are second to none! A very big thank you from me and my dive buddy boyfriend for making us feel so welcome and for helping to make memories and hopefully a friendship that will last a lifetime. Awesome!!! The contact with Sophie was super nice. Never have such a well organized diving school as this one. The most important data was queried in advance via Forms and the equipment was prepared accordingly. This saved a lot of time on the day of the dive. The instructor Paulo is great. He has been very nice to us. He was able to calm down an anxious diver in our group so that he could continue his dive. Thank you so much for this beautiful day with you!!! Dive with these guys!!! Like seriously. They are queer friendly and extremely kind humans, while also knowledgeable about the island and dive sites. Their gear is top-notch and new. They take AMAZING care of you, and they make sure you feel safe. You don't need to do any boat dives, the shore dive are great and all you need!! Enjoy this cute cuddle fish!

Had an amazing experience diving with Leagues Ahead Diving in October! Booking the fun dive and communicating with Sophie and James was super easy and very informative. I was pretty nervous because during my previous dives I experienced many problems with equalising. I explained my concerns and the dive master I was paired with (Emil) made sure I was comfortable the entire way down and did not mind us going slower when needed. This really helped me feel more at ease during the entire dive, I did not feel rushed at all to go down fast. My second dive went even smoother and I was able to enjoy it the entire time. All in all an amazing experience with these guys, extremely kind and very caring! Can definitely recommend.

I went for two dives with Ilze to Tufia beach and had a great time! She picked me up and dropped me off at the end at my hotel, the dive was fun and safe, and she did her best to show us as many animals as possible! It was a fun experience and I’m happy to have met her 😊🤿

We had a fantastic experience with Leagues ahead diving, initial communication with Sophie was very easy and she put us in the right dive for us, having not dived for a few years. James then took over and was very friendly and professional and very knowledgeable about the dive site and surroundings. Kit was new and very well maintained and safety was paramount. Regarding the dive site (Tufia) I was amazed how clear the water was and the variety of sealife you can encounter. Octopus, Parrot fish, cuttlefish, Barracuda and Sea horses to name a few. Did my Open Water course last month with these guys, and I cannot recommend them enough. James, Sophie, Kyle, Paulo, Viva, and Emilio were so friendly and helpful. My instructors Kyle and Paulo were so informative and patient when it came to explaining/doing the skills, they did not hesitate to repeat anything I was unsure of. One of the great things I found was that they did not take on too many people per instructor (like other dive centers in GC) which made the whole experience more personal and allowed the instructors to be more one on one. Again, I cannot recommend these guys enough, would give 6/5 stars if I could. I passed my open water course and I'm hoping I get to do my Advanced Open Water course next year with Leagues Ahead. This dive center is probably one of the best we’ve dived with. You just cannot go wrong with Leagues Ahead Diving. James makes you feel at ease instantly and gives the best dive debriefs. And Sophie, she’s just amazing. She plans everything brilliantly and makes the booking process a breeze. A real pleasure dealing with her. The equipment is great and they put much thought in where to dive depending on the weather conditions. They will even go to the opposite side of the island if need be. @Sophie: thanks again for your thoughtfulness, the extra layer that you prepared for me for the night dive was spot on!

I spent a wonderful morning with this company this week. WOW….. what an experience from start to finish. Sophie made our booking so easy and straightforward and was a pure delight to deal with. James met us at our hotel (at the exact agreed time 🤗) and from the moment we stepped into the bus the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. We had two incredible dives where we saw lots of marine life topped off by spotting an angle shark and a huge stingray … the dive site was fabulous and the overall experience truly wonderful. 🥰

My girlfriend and I went on a snorkelling excursion for the first time, and it was absolutely amazing. Nothing bad to say about the experience, we got picked up by Kyle and Chris and they were both very friendly and energetic. Chris took us out for the snorkelling and he made the experience so much better than it already was. He was extremely patient and had a great passion for what he is doing, which made everything 100x more enjoyable. He also gave us great advice about what to do on the island, which made our holiday, as a whole, much better. Lastly, the whole process was incredibly simple, Sophie was very helpful and there was no issues organising a time and date. Without a doubt a 10/10 experience, I would 100% recommend to anyone coming here on holiday. Thanks guys!!

Must Do! It was first time experience for us and diving with James was wonderful. What to expect before and during the dive was very well communicated by the team along with the short training before dive. Being a tourist pick and drop by Paulo one of the team members was really helpful. Would not forget to mention that we could leave kids at office with Sophie who was kind enough to watch over while we go for dive. Overall the whole experience, team hospitality, calmness, detail orientation was amazing.

We had the most amazing experience with Leagues Ahead! My partner and I have never done anything like scuba diving before (we hadn’t even put on a wetsuit or snorkel before) so we were a little apprehensive and had no clue what to expect. The whole Leagues Ahead team were great. We got picked up and taken to their base, got fitted for our wet suits and left for our first dive. On arrival we got straight into learning about diving, how we use the equipment and so on. When we got into the water, I had a little panic but again the team were amazing and calmed me down straight away. They were very patient which I was extremely grateful for. The training itself was really enjoyable, clear instructions on what skills we were going to do and how to do them all. Any questions we had were answered clearly. We originally booked for the 2 day scuba course and ended up adding on the 3rd day and completing our Open Water Course. We saw some amazing sea life on all of our dives too. I would highly recommend Leagues Ahead to anyone and especially those who have never dived before. We really hope to dive with them again if we return to Gran Canaria. Thank you to Sophie and James for being so great and the whole dive team - Fatema, Viva, Emilio and Kyle!!!

This was one of the most professional experiences I have ever had. If you are looking for a scuba experience, please have it here with Sophie and her partner James. Let me tell you why: - I booked this experience via WhatsApp from Phoenix, AZ in the states. Sophie was very prompt in responding to my many questions and made it very easy to know what she needed to confirm our dive. We were all set within days of communicating with Sophie and that made me feel very comfortable and prepared. - The team picked us up at our AirBnb and made it very easy to confirm the day before. From the moment they picked us up, James and his Divemaster Kyle were very kind and welcoming. - They took us directly to the dive shop to try on our preselected gear (the bags of gear had our names on them, nice touch 👍). Sophie explained the paperwork very calmly and slowly which made for a comforting experiencing, though I am not surprised based on how she communicated ahead of the dive. With typical European efficiency we paid, tried on our gear, and left for the dive site within 20 minutes. - Once we go to the dive site, James and Kyle reviewed safety, communication, and the dive plan for the day. They helped us set up our gear and got us down to the water within 40 minutes of arriving at the site. - James and Kyle were very knowledgeable of the area and we were able to see sting rays, octopi, and more fish than you could count. - After we finished diving, their team dropped us off directly back in front of our AirBnb. Summary: On the ride back, the professionalism of the guides set in as I reflected on the seamless experience my family and I had. Thank you to the entire team. Highly recommend.
