It's an older building with no elevator, the beds are small but at least have a privacy curtain which is a plus. Front desk ladies are great. There is one grumpy dude who was cleaning the kitchen and slammed the door when I asked to go in because I had groceries to drop off.

Do not stay here, this place is really dirty. I went and left without staying the night because it looked so unsanitary everywhere. Not a good neighborhood either, do yourself a favor and do not believe the hype. Trying to do a public service here by warning you as I’ve stayed in many hostels while traveling.

Nice Hostel with very friendly staff. Central location and area felt safe. Only a short walk from the BART. Free breakfast between 7-10am is definitely very good. They also had a free pizza night during my stay. Bunk Beds are comfortable and very private as they all have curtains. I’m my room down stairs they are built out of solid timber so you don’t feel your bunk buddy moving around. Only downside about my room down stairs was it very stuffy some nights.

NOT A HOSTEL!… Low cost Rooming House. Mostly permanent residents…but on the flip side, I didn’t get accosted at or in front of the place (I did get harassed by a guy in front of the Hilton down the street one morning when I had to meet the tour guide for my Yosemite tour) No air conditioning, the rooms were pretty warm even in early April… most showers are tiny boxes…there are 2 good showers that I saw (basement and third floor)

Meh, the Website pictures aren't up to date. No good breakfast if you don't have your own stuff. The rooms are basic and alright. Still wouldn't recommend it.

I've stayed 5 times, and the formerly great experience has been gradually whittled down to just a room with 4-10 fairly private capsule-like beds. Gone are the group activities and most importantly, gone are the free breakfasts. Gone is the fun and excitement. At this point in time, there are nicer places for less money in better locations, so search them out instead.

Shady hostel and even shadier people. The 5 star reviews are probably fake. It's located right next to Tenderloin and you can tell. The rooms were dirty with a disgusting smell and staff was unfriendly. Our room was located in the common area and paired with a mix of weird hostel guests (we were the only ones in their 20s) and a door that can be unlocked without a key easily, this led to a very unsafe environment. If you're traveling alone in SF and want to make some friends, check out the Green Tortoise Hostel, best hostel experience I've had so far.

It's a typical hostel: a little run down, but made with thoughts about users, which is the most important: good planning, plenty of room, curtains on beds, big kitchen. The personnel is very friendly and answers all requests. Overall, can't really complain much. Just note that it's not shiny place like those you can find in Iceland or south America. The location is quite good, although now I think you can find hostel with a view in San Francisco

I think this hostel is exceptional for the price range. Very affordable yet comfortable. Almost too good to be true in San Francisco. Very friendly and helpful staff. The beds were comfortable and rooms clean. Thought because the hallway and bathrooms were a bit tiny and squeezed, they were going to be a bit unkempt but to my surprise everything was nicely arranged, clean and tidy. Loved the fact that breakfast was inclusive. The options were a lot. In a city as expensive as SFO having such an establishment offering breakfast at such attractive rates was a big plus for me as it helped me save on cash as I explored the city. And the receptionist was kind enough to store my luggage 🧳 for me during the day in a safe locker room. So you need not to worry when in a room sharing with strangers. The hostel is also strategically located. Most landmarks are some few minutes away which makes it a great focal point. I totally recommend it to anyone in San Francisco on a budget. But it is definitely not wheelchair accessible. Though I would totally visit if am ever back in SFO. High life on low funds.

Very lovely hostel with a nice living room. Rooms are big and with a sink and boards at the bottom of the bed to keep your things safe. Bed mattress is a bit old and you feel the bounces + a odd smell which I believe comes from the carpet on the floor. Breakfast is super nice and wide options, included in the booking. Despite this, I have felt so comfortable there.

Honestly think a lot of the 5 stars reviews are fake, this hostel looks nice but is truly the lowest quality you could get (for the right price though). If you're used to motels and hostels then it should be fine, especially for just a night or two. But I stayed 4 nights in a 10 beds room, with no proper lockers (very easy to steal your stuff if you don't have locks on your bags), very noisy at night, there were people in the kitchen talking super loud every time as if it was a festival, and outside the window in the morning way too early. Bathrooms are very unhygienic, it's clear no one does the cleaning and apparently guests don't know how to clean after themselves. The beds are decent, but the blanket and pillow were very poor quality. Didn't interact much with the staff so I can't say anything about that, but yeah, as someone who has done a lot of hostels throughout my trip in America, this one was one of the worst ones, sadly. It's not a youth hostels like most other places either, I'm used to it being for young people in Europe but here it was mostly people in their late 30s/40s/50s. Not that there's anything wrong with them, it just caught me off guard. Also, didn't really enjoy the free breakfast as the kitchen was overcrowded. Location is REALLY good though!

Some of the floors and walls have seen better days which, at first, may leave the impression that the place is a bit run down but everything you need actually works perfectly. There is a nice mix of guests and beautiful common places to hang or work remotely. The staff are very efficient, friendly and will help with anything. Great value for money and really adds to the whole experience of the city.

I stayed 3 weeks in Adelaide hostel. It was a great time for me. There is every day free breakfast and the stuff as well as the owner are always friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for everything. Keep on as until now.

Everything a traveler needs was provided, including a padlock for sale and room to lock up your luggage. Huge kitchen, lounge, computer access, a giant refrigerator and cubby space in the kitchen. No elevator, but beds each had a bookshelf, outlet, gooseneck lamp and comfortable bed. The address is actually an alley, tricky to find, but well worth it.

It’s a fairly basic hostel, there’s not much to it. The location was all right. We were banking on there being breakfast so that was an expense we weren’t expecting to have to deal with. Staff were cool, they gave us parking recommendations but we couldn’t quite find the spot. They have pieces of paper with directions on it, I’d suggest taking that with you. We parked at the Masonic temple which was a little more expensive but large and safe. One guy also gave us some great bar recommendations, which we thoroughly appreciated. The room was nothing special but the beds were very comfortable. They did have a TV in our room but there wasn’t a way to chromecast to it or install an app we wanted which was annoying. There was 0 atmosphere but I attribute that to most of the travelers being domestic at this point in time. I’m sure when things go back to normal it’ll be a lot more fun.

I travel to here from time to time between my camping and suping trips up and down the coast. The staff is friendly, the people are nice. The last time there was an old lady in her 60s named Allison chasing down people trying to force add cinnamon into their coffee, then she picks her targets and chase them down to blame the entire morning of gunk in the sewage on her targets, harassing them saying clean pan having food stuck on them and all kinds of imaginary accusations she hallucinated, then forcing the guests to clean the sink of an entire morning’s gunk in the sewage. She reminds me of my mom whose name is also allison, hallucinating what other people didn’t do and accusing them of it is what she does her entire life. She even caused the chinese embassy to break into the California legal justice system with some chinese lawyer, it’s surprising she didn’t go to prison yet. These kinds of people obsess over people and things they’ve hallucinated and kept harassing them until they lose the ability to. There is a man in his 70s pretending to be a retired marine general. he shows people pictures of military without him in it and claims those are his pictures. james mattis was whom he was trying to impersonate but he has no idea who he is when mentioned that he sort of resembles him.

I think you get what you pay for. This place works a little more like a “mission” for the destitute rather than a hostel. The smell is terrible and the people is worse. I don’t blame the owners completely, though, but I didn’t even stay for a single night - I was fearful for my health and valuables and o ran straight out of the place and went to a decent hotel just around the corner.

Highly recommend. It is close to the BART for getting to & from the airport. Staff was kind, helped me with food suggestions & a lost bag. Hostel is clean with a lot of individual restroom. Mattress was surprisingly cozy! Privacy curtains & personal light & outlet in each bed is lovely. Wasn't too much partying or noise going on when I was there. People were quiet & respectful. It is a chill & clean hostel.

This is my Favorite place in the city. The Greatest people mostly from different countries around the world. Awesome atmosphere with great use of space. The isolation of people cause it's the hole in the wall never no it's there home away from home kinda place. I found this place in the Spring on 17" and I've been coming back here when I don't want to be out in the world it's my hiding place

Everyone here was super friendly! The staff were very warm and welcoming and did what they could to ensure we were comfortable. The vibe of the hostel is really awesome too! It's bright, colorful, full of interesting things to peruse, the common rooms are comfortable and very welcoming, and the staff were really amazing. There's tons of informational books and pamphlets provided for those looking to learn more about the city, and if you like the social aspect of a hostel the common room makes it really easy to vibe with the other guests. I wound up arriving WAY early by mistake (like, 10:00AM early), because I hadn't looked to see what time check-in was. The gentleman at the counter let me know that check-in was usually 3:00PM, but he went out of his way to make sure my room was ready to go, and I was checked in and cozy by 10:30ish. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the beds are super cozy, the WiFi is fast, and the breakfast options are amazing. The hostel is fairly active during the day, but has mandated quiet hours at night - if noise is a concern when you stay somewhere, the Adelaide very quiet and peaceful, and there's no noise transference from the other rooms. I slept really well! Admittedly my favorite part was the cable options in the room I had; the private room had a nice, up-to-date TV with Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and a bunch of other streaming options provided at no extra cost. It was really nice for late at night when you want to unwind before bed. While the rooms don't have AC (at least that I could see) they stayed very cool and comfortable and it was easy to warm them up as the room had a built-in steam heater, which was really cool. One last thing I think really sold the whole experience was that I accidentally left behind a really important piece of jewelry to me. Housekeeping found it and I received a call from the hotel letting me know that my necklace was safe, and they were sending it back to me at no charge. I know it's a small, silly thing, but it really meant a lot that they went out of their way to keep it safe and to make sure I knew they'd located it and they were going to get it back home with me. This is definitely a great place to stay, and if I'm back in SF I'll be staying here again.

Super friendly staff, and such a cool aesthetic in the hostel, and super hot water for showers with good water pressure. They have a cozy lounge area on floor 1 a good place to do laptop work or read. They have desktop computers available for printing and maybe for other uses. The free breakfast here is totally awesome, fresh fruit, eggs and butter, several varieties of bagels, raisins and oats, and a full kitchen with two stoves/ovens where you can cook from 7am to 10pm i believe. There was also a sink in the room which is nice to brush your teeth at. The only issue with my room was the AC wall port was very loose and my charger fell out.

Always have a great stay at Adelaide Hostel -- curtains on each bed and large spaces to lock your bags. Breakfast is good too 🥯 My go-to San Francisco hostel!

Didn’t like it A lot of unsafe people living as local there. The staff is rude ALL OF THEM Very disappointed about the kitchen They said it close by 10 pm but actually by 9 22pm a very arrogant (not polite guy) called ALBERTO turn off all the lights and starts to spray and clean all the tables regardless IF YOU ARE STILL USING and it’s not 10PM He’s very aggressive person You can see in the past comments here Do yourself favor choose another place 👍 Not safe and mess room

If you're looking for a place to stay in San Francisco, Adelaide is where to go! Such a cozy place, nice beds with clean sheets and lovely staff. During the pandemic is a boomer that we din't get the chance to interact that much with other guests in events as before, but the hostel follows all the covid protocols and proves a safe environment for everyone. We got a private room for 2 and served perfectly for us. It's definitely worth staying here if you want an experience in the heart of San Francisco.

I had an AMAZING time here. The room was clean, every morning house keepers came by to clean and vacuum, all meals you cook yourself but they provide the ingredients, met fellow travelers so it wasn’t strictly houseless people. Only ONE person was houseless and they kept to themselves. Staff was cooperative and understanding when I wanted to extend my stay. They exchange dollars for quarters when you need to do laundry. The bathroom/showers are communal but it’s VERY clean. Just make sure to bring shower shoes. Also if you want to purchase a lock for your bunk, they have them available but I suggest bringing one to save on money. There’s a breakfast spot right across the street. Not much parking available but I flew in so I didn’t need to park a car. There’s a public parking garage near by that costs money but it’s worth it to park there and walk to the hostel. Also, wifi is surprisingly fast. Only reason for four stars instead of five is because if you walk alone, it can be dangerous. So if you’re a single female traveler like me, keep protection on you or have a companion.

For a hostel it's great. Right smack in the heart of the city, friendly employees, generally friendly people staying here and anything you need is just a block or 2 away. Comfy enough beds and some nice spaces to hang out.

This is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. The staff are all really nice. The beds are really good with the storage and shelves and curtains. It also felt quite safe being away from the street a little. It was also clean and tidy 😇😇

I really enjoyed my first stay, but this last time at 10:15 when everyone supposed to quiet down the workers I guess we're so loud playing singing and laughing for a least an hour even banging against the wall. Other than that it was great. I just wish people would think about the room right next to where they are. Either they didn't realize or they didn't care. Hopefully the former.
