Honestly the best hostel Iโ€™ve ever stayed in, the beds are nice and private but the vibe is extremely chill. Thatโ€™s mostly due to the social and relaxed people that work there, who feel like they enjoy being there just as much as you do. It has a perfect balance of social and relaxed, and it has great facilities. I wish I knew this beforehand so I couldโ€™ve stayed more than 2 nights! Oh, and if you go there, make sure to ask Nick why the hostel is called 1948.

Hands down the best hostel that I have stayed at! I stayed here twice during my time in Thailand, it's in a perfect location, the beds are big, comfy and everything is super clean! Nich and J really go out of their way to make your trip perfect (even when you're in a different part of the country!) and help with absolutely everything you need as well as being great company. My Thai home from home, I already miss being here..

You won't find a better hostel in Chiang Mai. I guarantee it. The staff are amazingly welcome. Very knowledgeable and will happily chat for hours. They don't feel like staff but more like friends which is a great feel. Security in the rooms is great, all the amenities you need are here, it's plenty social and great for chilling at the same time. Met some amazing people here, so hopefully you all do too.

This is my favourite hostel Iโ€™ve stayed in after 7 months of backpacking. The staff were extremely friendly and make you feel at home and so good at bringing everyone together. Perfect balance of social and chill. Rooms are very clean and if you need anything the staff were always happy to help with whatever made u feel more comfortable. There was also a Lovely wee lounge area to binge some Netflix on be rainy days. 1 minute walk from the old town so perfect location too! Thanks so much to the team ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค

This hostel was just a brilliant vibe through and through, right in the centre of Chiang Mai with lots near. Nick was such a helpful and friendly host while I was there. The style of the hostel is such a vibe too, really hit those chill city vibes. The pods where really comfortable in the mixed dorms, I was in front of an ac so a long needed coolness in Thailand all around haha. I noticed it late but I really liked the info whiteboards in the reception, giving tips and hints on what's going on near, liked the idea of the WhatsApp and Instagram group for sorting plans, perfect idea! For safety there is the nice added touch of a keypad for the front door at times and the dorm room

If you need some privacy in a mixed dorm this place is the one. The beds are quite large (I'm 6โ€ฒ 2โ€ณ and I had tonnes of room) and they have adequate space behind the bed to keep all your gear safe and sound. The whole building is very clean and well kept. the Aircon was sooo good! I would go as far to say that it sounded like light rain asmr at night. Hanging out there was 10/10! If you're a lover of music - The host always had good tunes playing in the common areas. He also has some great tips for what to do when you're in Chaing Mai & will do his best to help you figure it all out. Next door had one of the best coffee shops we could find and everything you could really need is probably just around the corner as well. I almost wanted to scrap my plans and just stay there for another few days. Best Hostel going and Nich is the best host you could ask for. Bualadh bos ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

From the off, Nick welcomed us in with open arms. In a big group of 6, he still managed to make a personal connection with each of us, and make us all feel super welcome and comfortable. From great breakfast spots and delicious pad Thai, to recommended tours - anything you need, they will help! Rooms are lovely with AC, showers and toilets plentiful and clean. They even have a PlayStation! Could not recommend more! Shoutout 1948!!

I loved my stay in 1948 hostel! Nich is the best host there is! Kind, generous, honest and always full of energy. He has the best places to recommend as well. The hostel was clean and the rooms tidy. Most importantly, I met the best people here and theyโ€™ve quickly become close friends of mine. Would recommend 10/10!

Really loved our stay at 1948 hostel! Very hipster hostel - like the whole city. It was clean, friendly and nice atmosphere! Nich is a great host and helped us a lot. Can't recommend it enough!

Clean, easy to access place. Nice and welcoming hosts that are always willing to help you. The location itself is really convenient - there are bikes rentals, shops, laundry and restraints in walking distance. It's also not kind of a party place which has its advantages and disadvantages depending on your goals. Overall a nice place to rest, recharge yourself for the next adventures while being connected to the city center.

If youโ€™re looking for an amazing place to stay, and an even better host to have you, definitely check out 1948 Hostel. From the beginning one of the owners, Nick, immediately sends an email asking when youโ€™re coming, if you need any help with anything, and heโ€™ll bend over backwards to help you out any way he can. From managing a last minute booking (we selected the wrong dates), to renting mopeds or recommending great trips, 1948 Hostel takes care of you. Its great to meet some relaxed chill backpackers, and is located in a great spot in old town Chiang Mei. We had an amazing time, and even better memories, and most of it I have to credit to 1948 Hostel. Great bunch of guys, Nick will take care of you like your his boys. Cheers.

Nick is generous, hospitable and ready to help in any way he can at all times, the best host weโ€™ve had in Thailand by a long way. The hostel is clean and comfortable with a very good atmosphere. Will definitely be staying here again on our way back through Chiang Mai.

Defo stay at this hostel if you're ever in Chiang Mai! Nick makes the place feel like home, and was so helpful with plotting things to do. Plus the little cubby beds are really cosy and I felt very safe in the hostel. Great place to meet people and chill out, or drag people out with you!

Amazing hostel, perfect level of sociable combined with a chill vibe. Very easy to get a good night's sleep here whilst only being a short walk away from some of the main city sites. The owners are incredibly friendly and attentive, regularly taking the hostel guests out for drinks/trips around the markets in the city and always going the extra mile. Will 100% be back some day!

1948 is an exceptional hostel, for a couple of reasons. The first being the location. You are planted right where you need to be to enjoy Chiang Mai. Most importantly though, the owner and the staff are the most welcoming and helpful crew that I have encountered in my travels. They have wonderful suggestions and won't hesitate to help you out to figure out the best plans for your travel style. This place was recommended to me and I am going to pass that along to you. Enjoy!

The the perfect hostel! Itโ€™s clean, has everything you need, an awesome location to anything you need in or around old town, and the staff is great. Beth was so friendly and gave us the best recommendations for the city. Nick the owner was also super accommodating. Thank you all so much for the pleasant stay! Definitely stay here during your visit to Chiang Mai.

1948 is the best you can find in Chiang Mai. The hostel is clean and has everything you can possibly need in a really good location. The atmosphere is super chill and perfect for finding new travelers. Nick is simply the prototype of the perfect host, always ready to help you with anything during your trip or just for a friendly chat. We had an amazing time and we decided to stay two more days! Be careful it's really hard to say goodbye!

1948 hostel was fantastic. A homely, comfortable hang out in a perfect location, just outside Tha Pae gate at the Old Town. The rooms, air conditioned, were cleverly designed with each bed space having its own blackout curtain, reading light, bedside light switches, power outlet and USB A outlet. Showers and toilets were spotless and plentiful. The staff were friendly and warm, always on hand to make a recommendation,ย  facilitated my (very) late check-in, the extension of my stay, and kindly printed out my visa for my next stop.
