Tom Yum Thai Cooking School

Tourist attraction Cooking class Culinary school

👍👍 An absolutely unforgettable experience and a highlight of our visit to Chiang Mai. Oun and Kae are very gracious hosts and teachers, who imparted culinary wisdom as well as a true native’s perspective of modern Thailand, it’s culture and it’s future. We had a really fun evening class making 6 deli... People often mention cooking, experience, great, time, class, home, recommend, market, Thai, chef,

An absolutely unforgettable experience and a highlight of our visit to Chiang Mai. Oun and Kae are very gracious hosts and teachers, who imparted culinary wisdom as well as a true native’s perspective of modern Thailand, it’s culture and it’s future. We had a really fun evening class making 6 delicious dishes and sharing stories and experiences in between the cooking. I couldn’t recommend this class enough - we left as friends more so than students.

Oun was very kind and humorous, and took us to a very local market for shopping. The feeling of returning to the classroom was as casual and comfortable as being a guest at someone else's home, just like visiting my brother's home in Chiang Mai. Still so full that I can’t stand it! I really like this itinerary and hope to go there again if I have the opportunity~

if you thought about doing a cooking class oun‘s house, but you‘re not sure yet, do it bro. you will thank me later. this guy is by far one of the kindest locals we met on our 4weeks journey through thailand. other cooking classes may have more reviews, but this one is so familiar and so welcoming at his own house. there was nothing which was bad or even okay, everything was perfect! you even get a cooking book with all the recipes. just go for it and you will probably have one of the best experiences in the kitchen for your money.

Just wow! Oun and Kae are lovely people and the combined local market shopping + cooking experience was fantastic. I'm not good at cooking but I felt at ease during the class. It's also great that they speak good English and told us many things about the different veggies, herbs & foods. I only wished we booked this earlier because from now on we'll actually know what's on our plates in Thailand 🙈

Had a great experience! Oun is an ex chef who prefers teaching and he is a very entertaining guy. The food we made was delicious and 5 courses was plenty, no one could finish everything they made. The markets were full of sights and smells with so many different kinds of food. The cooking school is at Oun's house which made it feel personal. It was a lot of fun, I definitely recommend.

You should try this cooking school. A favorite experience in Thailand! Cooking school was well organized and food was delicious. Oun was great with kids (and adults). He kept us entertained throughout the experience. The lesson is in their house, which made it even more special.

Sure a lovely experience with a great group of people. Chef and the brilliant members of the cooking school crew were fantastic from start to finish. Each dish was explained and shown how to achieve certain flavours and we all had a great laugh as we went. There was no sense of urgency and it was a very relaxing evening. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Chiang Mai to take the time and experience this cooking class!

After researching cooking classes, we opted for "Tom Yum Thai Cooking School" I recommend the classes with the chef... We are a couple of professional chefs and we are looking for a place to learn Thai gastronomy. We had private and personalized classes with a special menu. (100% custom) If the chef has time he also offers this option, you can always talk to him and get the best for your learning. Highly recommended, very happy and giving us all the tips and secrets of Thai gastronomy. Real Flavour 100% recipe PDF Thanks You chef and Team !

we really had a super fun cooking course. Under the guidance of the good English-speaking owner, we started working with super fresh products where we made 5 different dishes per person. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn Thai cooking

Oun is very personable and you are essentially cooking at his home all day. We didn’t do cooking classes at any of the other schools so I can’t tell you how it compares, but I would say this is a good choice if you’re looking for a more personal touch with less people. He used to be a chef at a restaurant and he has a great sense of humor. Food came out great!

My Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our cooking course, it was very fun and we learnt a lot. The evening course was in high demand so we could only get on in the day, so booking in advance recommended. Euan was very funny and his English was superb. You get to eat all the yummy meals so go on an empty stomach.

Booking & Communication: Booked this cooking class last minute (the day of) and they were able to take us in for the evening class as requested. Clear communication and helpful information when I booked via WhatsApp; they provided the menu, directions, and pictures to their location. I think they usually pick-up at your hotel, but we were pretty far. Market & Cooking The local market was incredible, I expected to choose our own vegetables, but instead we went to a preselected stand and after some explanation of the veggies, they were put in our hands baskets. I imagine that is to save time. Nonetheless, we spent the perfect amount of time at the market and even had time to explore a bit independently. The cooking atmosphere at their home was so laid back and stress free. We took our time and I appreciated that we were not rushed.

Brilliant. We were very lucky to have a private cooking lesson as no one booked same time slot. Owner is very helpful and funny with plenty jokes in his pocket. We made 5 dishes preselected uppon our arrival that were simply amazing. They pick up from the hotel and drop off if needed, but we walked ourselves home just to burn the calories as we couldn’t have enough of the delicious food we made. Price 900bath

Fantastic experience that I’m so happy we decided to sign up for! Oun, the owner and our chef instructor is very knowledgeable and shared a lot with us. He took into consideration our dislike of cilantro - much appreciated 👍 There were a good amount of options for what we could cook, and we made quite a few dishes. The trip to the market to see information about the ingredients was wonderful. Thank you so much for this incredible afternoon!!

We were super excited to learn how to do some Thai cooking, and we were not disappointed! It was actually really easy to do with the instructions from Orn, who is a magnificent chef! We also had our 2 kids with us making food and they did great, Orn and his crew were very helpful with getting our kids set up, even with a stool to reach the prep table. Thank you all for your hospitality!

Eon was a super friendly and engaging cooking instructor. He was very funny while still teaching us about the dishes and ingredients. I had some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had on this experience. It was super cool to cook in his home, everything was well set up and very clean. From the pick up, through the cooking, and the drop off Tom Yum Thai Cooking School was efficient, organized, and pleasant. Highly recommend, and make sure to arrive hungry!

Had a great experience here. Everything from the visit to the market to the cooking was very educational. The instructor is very knowledgeable and has a great personality. He makes you feel at home. The food we prepared was delicious. It was several courses and we left very full. I can highly recommend this experience when visiting Chiang Mai. If you can, do it early during your trip. The education regarding the food of Thailand will surely come in handy when going out to eat.

Prompt pickup from the hotel. Facilities were excellent and so spotlessly clean with the friendliest of staff which were so helpful. Learnt some amazing cookery skills and you will too. We also met some other lovely travellers and made friends. Honestly one of the best things I’ve done while in Chiang Mai!
