This hotel was a renovated Holiday Inn Express that had been changed over to The Kinney, a Hilton Tapestry collection property. This place has potential because they've done a great job decorating and having a fun game area. Staff is pleasant. - RESORT CREDIT - Because of our status, we had $30 / day resort credit. Unfortunately due to staffing issues their restaurant & bar were closed except for Saturday morning breakfast. Sunday night they had beer & wine only. We ended up using one of the resort credits on a bottle of champagne, although it was a cheaper brand than was listed on the menu. It was hard to use the resort credit when I have Celiac disease and our waiter said that even the eggs have gluten (which makes no sense.) We ended up having to get 4 cappuccinos on the last day to use our resort credit. - NOISE- While it looked cool and they did a good job on decorating, as well as having a fun game area for adults, the walls were SO thin and the curtains didn't blackout the sun in the morning. The curtains are actually too short, so sunlight streams through. People who don't know how to close a door and just let it slam behind them were common and it literally shook the entire room every time it happened. It felt like the building was going to collapse when the doors slammed which made me wonder if there is something structurally wrong with the building. The older I get, the less patience I have for kids who scream and go wild in public. (It's a good thing that I don't have kids.) In the morning, some little kids were making so much noise banging on stuff and screaming next door that I was able to yell, from my bed, at them to quit making noise. I know they heard me because the noise instantly stopped for a few hours. You can hear staff on their two-way radios at like 7 AM, and on the weekend. I don't want to be up so early due to noise. I don't know how they can soundproof, but this building needs it. - MAINTENANCE - I let staff know that our mirrored closet door wouldn't close. The tub spout was also loose and pieces of grout were missing in the shower, which may explain the water damage on the walls. There was stuff peeling around our ceiling in our room as well. I also had to take a bath with a rag stuffed in the drain because it was missing a stopper. I mentioned it to the front desk and the staff pulled a stopper out right next to the desk. She said they have a problem with people stealing the stoppers? Very strange issue. - CONCLUSION - This could potentially be a cool hotel if it was an adults only place and maintenance issues were fixed, but as is, I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the thin walls and doors that make the rooms quake.

Long story short. I booked an INN nearby for my wife's birthday. I failed to adequately express my love for her by way of true, restful, classy, quiet, modern, and clean environment. My bad. She found this hotel in a matter of minutes, and they were Extremely helpful with our check in. What an upgrade from where we were. They saved the birthday weekend!

I booked this hotel since I was a Hilton member, and because it looked boutique. It was hardly boutique in any way. The decor of the lobby and the general area looked semi-chic but the service and the staff hardly could support it. The room, was done up with interesting lights and furniture but the room smelled like smoke, and the toilet was hardly boutique. The location however is very convenient, easy access to Hwy 101 and a mile away from the hustle and bustle of downtown SLO.

We checked in extra late after a long day driving. We stayed 2 nights arriving very late the fist night and leaving very early the second morning. Upon arrival it was obvious the room was only minimally cleaned. We use the floor to care for our disabled teenager and there were large crumbs and peanuts around the room on the floor. It was gross. The surfaces were sticky and there was jam or something in the fridge. The fridge also wasn’t working which made things tricky with my son’s medication, but with as gross as it was, I wouldn’t have used it. We were assured it would be resolved the next day. The room was cleaner the next day when we arrived back there but the carpets (that desperately needed a deep clean) still hadn’t been vacuumed and the fridge hadn’t been checked. I talked with a manager, Megan, who apologized and assured me they would issue me a 20% courtesy credit for my room and would email a receipt. We drove all day and when I checked my email that night I was charged $696 for the room and issued a credit for $85. I called several times over the next 3 days and was constantly promised a call back from management but never received it. The only reason I can give this overpriced hotel more than 1 star is Barbara who worked at night was genuinely as helpful as she could be under the circumstances of a sold out hotel in the middle of the night. I’m still waiting for my $55 credit but frankly don’t feel I should have been charged for that first night with how dirty the room was on arrival. The signage ensuring the extra measures for cleanliness due to Covid were frankly offensive at that point!

I stayed here for 3 nights. Hamed is hands down the kindest, most genuine, and most helpful person I have ever interacted with in a hotel. Checking in at 1am I was greeted with a warm smile and welcoming demeanor. He made sure that all 3 nights of my stay at the Kinney were an absolute delight. Anything that I needed during my stay, he was glad and eager to accommodate. 5/5 would stay here again just because of the wonderful staff.

This place is very uncomfortable. The beds are hard. The walls are very thin. The carpet has no padding. I seriously recommend against staying here. I was tricked by the photos into thinking they invested in the property. It's a 1 star motel with some kitchy trappings.

Don't stay here if you like to sleep. Pros: Rooms are very clean. Front desk and bar/restaurant staff are very friendly. Modern decor. Fun vibe. Cons: The walls are made of paper mache/tissue/toilet paper. If the person in the next room goes to the bathroom, you hear it. If they watch a YouTube video on their phone, you hear it too and can make out exactly what they hear. If someone leaves their room, you will hear it. If the guy above you walks around, the floor creaks and booms. You wake up. If you like to sleep at night, don't stay here. It's a shame.

Really nice hotel. We stayed here and ate at the nearby Madonna Inn. Hotel feels modern and has good facilities, including a nice outdoor pool area. Breakfast was good in a large sports bar type of restaurant area. Very friendly and helpful staff who allowed us a late check out so the kids could have a swim in the morning before we got back on the road.

Very cool modern upscale hotel. Clean room, nice pool & hot tub, friendly staff. Comfy bed and good shower.

The lobby was nice but Hilton status wasn’t acknowledged and had to wait a very long time to check in. Room was ok. AC unit didn’t work, phone also didn't work. Was told I had to lift the wooden cover of the AC unit to find a button to turn it on. Bath tub doesn’t drain. Most hotels have some sort of complimentary water but had to purchase even though my Hilton status is supposed to give free water bottles. Overall it’s just an average hotel. Not worth the price. Will stay elsewhere next time.

The parking lot was taped off every day for paving that wouldn’t occur until the following week and my friend injured herself moving the cones in the dark after the front desk told us to move it ourselves. Additionally rooms had no trash or ice bags and we never received housekeeping even though we requested it. There was also mold in the sink and the shower. And my diamond member status benefits weren’t honored such as the points bonus or the food and beverage credit

We booked this hotel in a whim during our roadtrip because hubby was too tired to drive. This hotel has newly renovated rooms with beachy decorations. The bed was big, spacious, and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and good size. My favorite thing was the beautifully decorated lobby. It gave a modern look. There was an outdoor and indoor game space which was fun. There was a small bar near the indoor game space and it was a bit awkward to place some games there as a family. The swimming pool was small but I wish that they could clean it. We only took a brief dip since I was kinda grossed out.

Great little gem near Cal Poly campus, check out the schoolyard their on site restaurant with great selection of food and drinks with free retro arcade machine, lots of seething choices inside, patio where your can admire the mountains and a beautiful courtyard , bring your laptop to catch up in a serene atmosphere or just relax. Rooms are ample with interesting decor, they even have bike rentals for $5 hour or $20 a day just wish I had more time to explore, Wanted to see the cal poly architecture graveyard. Maybe next time.

We stayed here while visiting some wineries and the area. It was nice and clean. Bed is super firm - too firm for me. Staff were so nice and restaurant was handy but pricey. Burger was super, super salty!!

When I arrived to the hotel, I thought it was an apartment building. Once I found the main entrance I was able to check in easily and the room I was given was on the opposite side of the hotel, and you can move your car closer to another entrance almost like a motel. The main reason this is a 2-star review is because when I returned to the hotel about 8pm after I was done with work, the power at the hotel was out due to a wildfire nearby. I used my cell phone flashlight to navigate the darkness to the front desk to figure out what to do in this situation. I simply asked how to get into the room since I thought the power outage would also affect the doors/key to the room. The response I got from 1 of the front desk employees was rude and incessant not to mention they also lied about other accommodations being available nearby. I was expected to sit in the room in pitch black, no emergency lighting on and no flashlight or glow stick. Not once did they mention any details about the power outage but I was told if I switch hotels they would not be refunding since it was out of their control (they did refund me in the end). Only because of that nasty interaction with the staff, I packed all my things while on the phone with a nearby hotel that had power. I went back to the front desk to inform them I was leaving. It was another unpleasant interaction with the staff before I was finally out of the hotel. I understand that the power outage is out of their control, but they need to do better about dealing with the situation and communicating to guests. They also can’t expect guests just to sit in a pitch black hotel room and not provide any sort of temporary lighting. Definitely would not stay here again because of the staff but the hotel overall just gave me motel vibes and not what I would expect of Hilton.

Great location in SLO with quiet, clean, newly remodeled rooms with almost comfy beds. Well my Japanese with liked then and I thought they were a bit firm. Shower and soaps were nice. Big TV in the room. Interesting pictures.

The hotel location is a bit hard to find but quiet enough. Rooms are average clean but the mattress is a bit bouncy to sleep on. When people walk around, the floor would make a weird sound and the doors do not prevent noises. Hence your experience at the hotel would heavily depend on the neighbors. The staff are not professional nor friendly. If you choose to eat at the restaurant, make sure you save proofs of your room charges as they may put other rooms' charges to your account. When we checked out, we found five charges that were not ours on our receipt. And the hotel staff was quite reluctant and hostile (blaming guests for mischarges but it turned out to be the restaurant/ hotel's direct responsibility to misassign charges to wrong rooms) to help figure out what went wrong.

Every employee was amazing, room was very spacious and unique, there bar area is pretty cool. Didn't have time to enjoy the fire pits but out the window that other guests looked mighty cozy having drinks by a fire. A few blocks away from downtown got an uber back home after barhopping was only $10.

Absolutely loved this hotel! It was so kid friendly. Jessica and Chris at the front desk went above and beyond to be helpful and were so friendly. Any staff we walked by said hello and smiled. The room was fun and clean. The pool was clean. It was all around a great time!

The location is great (right off the freeway and close to downtown), the staff is great (very friendly and helpful), but the condition of the property leaves a lot to be desired. We were disappointed and it was definitely not up to the "Hilton" standard we are used to. The jacuzzi wouldn't get hot, the pool furniture was old and rusted with huge tears in the cushions, our bathroom door was warped so would not shut properly, there are cracks in the walls, and overall the property just needs maintenance.

Let me start off by saying that the front desk staff was polite and professional.😊 This was supposed to be a romantic, relaxing get away from my husband and I but, I must admit that I was sadly disappointed. Not only were the rooms, not cleaned properly, we had to change rooms due to spots being on the sheets. And when we got moved to another room…. the duvet cover had make up smudges on it!! Although we never keep the duvet covers on the bed, it’s just the principle of the matter. There was children running up and down the hallway all day all night & we were on the second floor so you heard every movement above you whether it was walking, running stomping…..you name it!! And lastly it was the location for me. We had to drive 15 minutes up the road to actually get to Avila Beach for our presentation. I was under the impression when I booked this getaway that we were staying at that particular beach location, But that was not the case. Had we’d known that we were being mislead, we definitely would’ve taken that 3.5-4 hour ride to Las Vegas and really enjoyed ourselves like we did before at the Hilton Grand Vacation hotel on the strip!! It was pure perfection in Vegas. To sum it up, very disappointing!!

We had the best time staying here to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday! The hotel is in a perfect location to get to downtown slo fast, Pismo in 20 mins and Paso Robles in 30 mins! The staff at this hotel was better than anywhere else we have stayed especially the late night team! We could not of left with a better experience!!

Good customer service. The man at the front desk was very helpful and kind. However, it was an old hotel with old facilities, covered up by new, modern aesthetics. The rooms weren't very soundproof. The television had a volume limit. And the decor was a bit odd, like a parody of what a college student's room would look like on the Disney channel. The location was good though and we were able to walk to downtown which was nice. Free parking is also a plus. It was nice they had a hot tub, but it had a strange tint to it like it hadn't been serviced too recently.

This hotel is super cute, clean, and convenient. I love the lobby area design-cute games and recreation. The customer service experience was also excellent. They fairly and kindly assisted me with a difficult situation where I needed the room a little longer than would normally be allowed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to SLO.

Very nice hotel. I liked the location -- easy walk to Cal Poly campus; easy walk to Farmers' Market on Thursday evening. Good room. Clean bathroom. Good water pressure in the shower. I would stay here again.

Really really cool atmosphere! I loved the design of the building and rooms. Beds were comfortable and staff seemed really nice. Took a star off for lack of complementary breakfast or coffee. At least it’s in an area that has quite a few coffee houses nearby. All in all, would stay here again. 👍🏻

Welcome- 5/5: Was easy to book for a last minute trip. The lobby person at night was SUPER nice. They informed us some tips for our stay in SLO. Room- 3/5: our room was a small room with 2 beds. Was very clean and nice except that it was very noisy and dirty on the floor. It looks like someone took a tiny poop on the floor which sis honestly disgusting but the floors were super thin you could feel the furniture shaking if someone walks in your room and you can hear upstairs too. It was very cold out there and the heater was great!😊 Location and entertainment- 5/5: a little walk to downtown won’t hurt and it is very nice out there. The hotel also has Leroy’s. Leroy’s had a few games and those were nice but thank you to the girl that works in night in the lobby she literally fixed 1 game and made drinks for everyone who ordered. Overall- 5/5: great hotel I do recommend it especially the pool it’s very nice.
