😠 Another one star over here!!!! I’d like to share an unfortunate experience we had in San Pedro with a tourist company. I’m doing this so that maybe I can guide you to a different company. We booked a tour with them to hike the Indian nose. They picked us up too late, and we started to hike at 5 AM.... People often mention hike, driver, great, Indian, experience, tour, road, agency,

Another one star over here!!!! I’d like to share an unfortunate experience we had in San Pedro with a tourist company. I’m doing this so that maybe I can guide you to a different company. We booked a tour with them to hike the Indian nose. They picked us up too late, and we started to hike at 5 AM. At this point, the sky was really bright, and we missed half of the sunrise. When we arrived at the summit, many other groups were already there. We asked, and they told us they had been there for 30 minutes already. We came back to their office hoping to have a refund and some explanation. The only one we got was that they couldn’t control the time at which the sun rises… however, they can control the time at which they leave. We showed them the photos of the bright sky but denied everything. Here are some photos of the sky when we were at a third of the way the and the company (down the main road). I hope you’ll be able to have a better experience 🙂

We had an amazing experience today doing the Indian Nose hike (rostro maya). We were really nervous about booking because there are such mixed reviews about all the agencies. But we really liked the service of the woman that handled our booking. She was very pleasant, clear and informative. It rained the night before up until 2am. But we still got an amazing view. The driver was super punctual, and picked us up from our Airbnb, which we greatly appreciated. The guide, Queo, was great! I’m so happy we got someone who was experienced, pleasant, helpful and joyful. It made the journey safe and such a treat! And the actual hike for me was a bit challenging, but definitely doable. Queo taught us about the area around, the plantation, and even taught our group a bit of Tzutujil! We received cafe, hot chocolate, and bread, which to me was DELICIOUS. Queo also took photos of everyone in the group. I think every person we encountered was really quite nice and welcoming. I’m so happy we did this! And to be honest, I would do it again just for that view. Would definitely recommend.

Booked the Indian Nose hike but my partner got sick overnight, called the 24 hour number to cancel yet they still came to our hotel just after 4 yelling our name. Asked to reschedule and were told we couldn't despite it not costing them any extra (they run the tour everyday)

I’m so glad I walked by Maya Travel San Pedro and asked about their tours. Chonita was so friendly and helpful, we came back day after day and booked all of our tours with her. Incredible service and bang for your buck. Our Indian Nose sunrise hike went flawlessly, pickup arrived at 4. Be in decent shape for a pretty steep 30min switchback climb. We also went on a beautiful horseback tour with Lea who was very kind, which went through local neighborhoods, a lakefront trail, and finally a narrow trail with wildflowers. Dress appropriately for foliage to be brushing on you. Finally, we booked a shuttle to GUA airport with Chonita, it picked us up and got to airport at times she stated, 5hr including stops. It was pretty cramped in the shuttle until we stopped in Antigua, but a great money saving option. Highly recommend this travel agency!

These lovely folks arranged last-minute private transportation for me to go to the Sumpango kite festival, after the festival was rescheduled due to rain so I had to go on a different day and from a different (much farther) location. The communication via WhatsApp to confirm the transport and pay a deposit was great, and the private driver was excellent - very calm and safe driver, very nice, and very patient with my bad Spanish. I am so happy that due to their service I was able to see the amazing giant kites despite the schedule change!

I called to book my transfer from san juan to antigua and i asked how to pay. The lady at the phone told me that it wasn’t necessery to pay at the agency and that i could pay directly at the driver. The only thing i had to do was to send a whatsapp message. That’s what i did but then the driver never arrived! After 15 minutes waiting i sent a Text but nobody replied, after 30 minutes i called and then they said that i didn’t actually made the reservation and that it was my fault! There’s a total lack of communication between the emoloyees, they are unprofessional and not helpful. I wouldn’t recommend this agency

We hiked Indian Nose in July 2023 and had a great experience with our guide (we even took a pic with him!). He was so friendly, encouraging, and informed about everything we walked past on the way back down (the way up is still very dark). However, this hike is HARD!!! Every video I saw said that it was fun and easy, but we were struggling so definitely be prepared for a challenge and bring lots of water! I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed this experience nearly as much if it weren’t for our amazing tour guide!! Thank you, Queo Mejia!

I would give 0 stars if I could. The travel agency we used decided to use Maya Travel as a shuttle bus service from Antigua to Lake Atitlan. Our psychopath of a driver saw a dog in the middle of the road, slowed down almost to a stop, beeped his horn at the dog, then gave it about 3 seconds before he sped up driving over the dogs back end. The dog made awful sounds and I saw it still alive in the road in absolute agony, crying and yelping. Truly one of the worst things I have witnessed in my life as it was completely on purpose. Myself and my partner were so pained by what happened it took us a long time to be able to write this as it happened a couple of weeks ago. I would like to clarify we’re not just western crybaby’s that can’t handle different cultures. We saw lots dead dogs on the drive which was sad but we understand it happens if the cars are going quick and they run out into the road. Before the incident the driver stopped off so he could get himself food, yet couldn’t give a dog more than 3 seconds to get out of the road. He claimed at the time he hit the dog that it ran out into the road as I think he thought we were sleeping but I saw the whole awful thing. There were no other cars around either… We tried to get a refund and the guy we booked through gave us back his commission but Maya Travel refused saying it was an accident. The whole time implying we’re just not used to it. The driver did it deliberately because he’s a freak and I wish him nothing but the worst. Avoid this company!!!

We went on the Indian nose sunrise hike, and it was a really great trip! Pick-up and drop off, hot cocoa and coffee at the top, and we had a really great and sweet guide called Jason. Really a great experience

I used Maya Travel agency for the Sunrise Indian Nose hike also know as Rostro Maya and their shuttle service from San Pedro La Laguna to Antigua. They are price fairly and I am happy with both services. For the hike they were super accommodating as I signed up for their tours late in the evening and they actually responded back when I messaged them which allowed me to do the tour the very next morning. The Guides were awesome and the tour included a hot beverage and bread which is nice touch to enjoy your beautiful view . The collectivo and the driver were also great and for both services they picked us up from the Airbnb. Overall this services I got from this travel agency was awesome, they are a trustworthy company. I encourage anyone traveling to Guatemala to check them out as they have many other tours and services available.
