I couldn't decide whether to give West Beach a 3 or 4 star review. I'm a bit sour over the cost/value, and frankly feel a bit taken. The room was clean & large, the bed comfortable, the staff pleasant. We had an ocean view with a big sliding glass door and patio that looks over the road so it's somewhat noisy. But basically, it's an old roadside motel that's been remodeled to a clean, well-located Best Western. I don't think the street/ocean view was worth the added cost. I would recommend staying a few blocks inland and taking a nice walk to the beach instead.

So I'm coming here like others I've seen post about the horrible customer service they received from this hotel to also tell my recent experience. I had planned a trip to SB for my wife's and I anniversary. The first representative I spoke with, Mila?, was very pleasant and professional to speak with. I had requested for the nicest room this hotel had and was accommodated with a third floor room with a view of the harbor. I had asked about a floral shop to have flowers brought to the room. Mila assisted me helpfully with a nearby florist. After speaking with the florist, they advised me to check with the hotel to make sure, besides the flower arrangement, if white rose petals were ok to place in the room. I called this hotel and received the ok from Mila, but I would need to call the day of our reservation to make sure our room was ready so the florist could come in to decorate. The day comes of my reservation, and I had the unfortunate dreaded luck to speak with what I was advised later was the assistant manager Patrice/Patrica, honestly do not want to remember her name. I had inquired about the status of my room so to contact the florist next and was advised from this assistant manager that first off no one other then staff was not allowed in the room, which makes sense somewhat but not what I was advised, and that rose petals or any type of scents/parfums were not allowed in the rooms. I advised this assistant manager that I had confirmed this previously with Mila that this would not be an issue and that I had already spent quite a bit of money for this floral arrangement. The assistant manager then looks over the notes on my room and tells me, "well I see that but we don't allow rose petals in the room and I don't know what else to tell you!" I then ask for her name and promptly hang up on her mid conversation due to the lack of customer service and professionalism I was receiving from this so-called assistant manager. I arrived at this hotel over an hour later and asked to speak with this incompetent assistant manager to only be told that she had left for the day. Another associate asked if they could help and I aired my grievance about the lack of any professionalism of this assistant manager, how she was a minor but annoying inconvenience of my wife's and I anniversary and the type of training they give at this hotel due to the fact the first associate I spoke with did not mention any issue with the rose petals. Come to find out from the associate I spoke with this day, the first associate had been working for this hotel for a few years. So I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who has tried doing the same loving gesture for a significant other. Now, if this had been brought up on my initial contact, I would have taken my business elsewhere. But the fact I was getting the run around is what finally did it for me. I requested to receive my flowers and cancel my reservation. I would like to say thank you to Mila and the last associate I spoke with, don't remember his name, for your help and utmost professionalism. To that assistant manager, you are horrible and disgusting at your job. If I had spoken to you the way you did to me with your rudness and unprofessionalism , I could understand why you would speak to me that way, but I was not. Stay away from this hotel and take your business elsewhere cause they do not deserve it.

Incredible accomodations. The 5:30 cheese and wine was a delight. Tasty danishes in the morning too. We got a garden view which also showed the pool and the ocean. The place is designed to have comfortable social settings for guests and I really loved it. Also no air freshener in the rooms which is awesome. We will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Santa Barbara

The location met our expectations. Unfortunately, the rooms are sub par, particularly for the high price. The beds were terrible and there are no screens on the windows or patio door (staff said that's on purpose for liability reasons). So the room was very stuffy and we had to sleep with the old wall air conditioner on all night which was extremely noisy. Basically paid $460 a night for 2 terrible nights sleep. There are a lot of hotels in the same location... we will choose another one next time.

Beautiful Inn. Location is the directly across from the water. We had a big balcony on the third floor with a huge balcony with chairs facing the bay. Big! room plenty of drawer space for clothes and really nice shower with very good shampoo and soaps. The perfect location.

The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were very comfortable. The grounds were relaxing and we spent much time lounging by the pool (which was heated!). We also appreciated how close it was to different things in the area, including the beach right across the street. An extra bonus was the 24 tea/coffee selection!

We found this hotel the day of our arrival. It was a group of 4 of us and prices were ridiculous that weekend but they were able to give us a great rate for a suite with two bedrooms. The stay was comfortable and chill. They also mailed me a very special purse that I forgot at the hotel. Most hotels never mail you your forgotten belongings. I am so thankful they did!

Nice until the pot smoke from hotel room below. We had to close the window and could not use the balcony. The hotel is very well situated next to beach, sunset cruise boats and restaurants. And the staff are friendly and kind.

What an amazing place to stay during a vacation. I loved it here. The breakfast is really good and appropriate. This inn is very close to the downtown so it has a perfect location just opposite the beach. Loved my stay here ❀️

Great motel in Santa Barbara. The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms very good. The breakfast provided was a great start to the day. Complimentary wine and cheese was offered in the afternoon. This could be enjoyed in the hot tub. Gastronomy and the beautiful pedestrian zone were only a few minutes away.

This place is clean, nice for its age. Right across from beach, very walkable. Staff is wonderful. I would come back if every in this area again.

Location was great for an ocean view room! Room itself was a little dated but clean. Hot tub was great for the cooler foggy night. Breakfast met our needs to keep us going until lunch.

Nice ground but very noisy in the so-called marina view room which was really a parking lot view. Over 2 hours of noisy work (drilling) when we arrived on a Wednesday & more than 2 hours Thursday. Comfortable room but many plugs and the charger falling out in the shower was only lukewarm both nights. I recommend staying at a place at least two doors away (there are many hotels) where your view should you choose a view room will be at the beach. The photo is our "Marina view"

This is an excellent hotel on a beautiful location close to the Santa Barbara pier and West Beach. The heated pool was very comfortable even in an unseasonably cold March day! The breakfast is quite simple, but overall ok value for money.

Old motel that has been nicely renovated located across from the beach and conveniently located close to tourist attractions and activities. The pool area is lovely and has many chairs and tables. The free continental breakfast was nothing special. The free cocktail hour served unpalatable wine and cheese and crackers handed out in a styrofoam bowl. Oddly, most of the staff were unfriendly.

Folks don't get misled, THIS IS A MOTEL. it's insane they command the prices they do (we paid over $500 for one night) . Location is great and staff very friendly and competent but in the end this is just a mediocre motel.

Nice hotel right by the beach. Nice little pool area. Okay breakfast and nice happening with wine and cheese in the afternoon. Friendly staff. Easy parking.

Beautiful location across the street from the beach. As per our many stays here service is excellent! Sadly though, our bed in room 203 was too firm & made for a poor night's sleep.

2 nights stay in the West beach Inn. It's a motel which has been refurbished with the room being modernized. Bathrooms are very small compare to other hotels. We got upgraded to a harbor view which was very nice. Wine and cheese in the evening and continental breakfast in the morning. Walking distance to the wharf and food selection of restaurant around.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay. This hotel was very overpriced for what it is. It is an old hotel with a good location. The breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese were not great.

Unfortunately we did even get to stay here because we are sick, but FIVE STARS to the customer service! Theresa (sorry if I am remembering your name wrong) was so helpful and kind and made sure we didn’t pay extra fees to cancel since we used another site to book. Whenever we do come back, we will definitely stay here!
